Smitjwick's Irish red beer

In short : a classic British pub bringing good food and fun times. I was on an Alaskan cruise with my family and our last stop was in Victoria, Canada . We were in search of poutine and stumbled across this spot in our Yelp search. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is a dark British pub. They have a good amount of seating and a table of 8 was found quickly for our group.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were playing a game of rock bingo and my server quickly gave us a game card and stampers to play as well. It was so fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food: I couldn't believe how delicious every dish was!!! We ordered 3 plates of poutine (it was my families first time trying the Canadian delicacy haha). We also ordered a pizza, burgers and fish and chips. All delicious!!! They have an extensive beer menu and everything your heart can desire . Come here if you are in the area. You will be glad that you did!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Vibe is good here in the evening![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Came for lunch and it was empty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was good and beer was tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'd say it's a good spot for a casual date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Stopped in after getting off the ferry. Waited for a bit to get in, service was slow. But, there were alot of ppl and looked like only 3 ppl working, so no surprising. Beer was cold, food was good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I loved the vibe, would totally come back![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food was great. I think the fish and chips were fine although the breading was mushy in some places. The beef dip was exquisite!

Service: 2 out of 5 stars The service was good, once it got to you. As you can see from my photos, it was not crowded inside. We were seated promptly and then just as promptly forgotten about. I mean, it took such a long time to address us, that we nearly got up and left. Once the server arrived and asked for our drink orders, my wife asked if she could try a type of beer and the server was off... before asking anybody else what they wanted to drink. Again, it was a long time before she returned. She was friendly when she was around. But it was extremely frustrating to watch 3 employees walking by us and not make contact us in any way, not even eye contact. Food: 3 out if 5 stars The food was nothing to call home about. My wife got the Thai peanut bowl and the lettuce in the bowl was wilted. But she said the chicken and the rest of it was good. Our friend got the French dip and she said it was good as well. I shared the chicken strips and fries with my daughter and they were mediocre. They offer honey mustard OR ranch to dip the chicken in but they would not give me both. Ambiance: [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place looks incredible inside. It reminded us of the pubs when we road tripped around England. Dark wood and soft lighting give this place a calm, relaxing feel that you would want to sit in for a while and have drinks.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All in all, I we wouldn't come here again or recommend it. There are just too many other, better, options nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you're wandering by and want a neat, relaxing spot to sit at the bar and grab a couple beers with your friends, this may be a good spot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Excellent English pub in the same building as the Doubletree Hilton - better than anything we found in the UK on a recent trip! We stopped by for a late lunch (after 2 pm) and it was mostly empty, but we got great service. We ordered drinks - Guinness for me, a Spaniard G&T for my better half, and a Shirley Temple for our teen (in Canada they are add OJ). Our server also helped us order some appetizers: crispy dry ribs, chicken wings, classic poutine (with pulled pork) and langos. All the food was delicious; we each liked something different, and there were NO LEFTOVERS!! Bill was over $100, and we tipped generously as the service was exceptional. We would be happy to return.

Our new "go-to place" in Victoria! We had dinner here 3 times during our week up here. Great selection of beers on tap (31?), cocktails and happy hour 3-6pm specials on drinks and food. I had some good local IPAs (18oz pours). I had poutine with bacon (great gravy) and also bangers and mash (excellent). Spouse had Langos (fry bread) and potato skins and shared a Caesar salad. Server clearing up told us about the Beef dip that "she was obsessed with" - so next time! I forgot to take a picture of the bangers and mash. Excellent - 2 large bangers, mashed potatoes with their awesome gravy, and very fresh sautéed carrots broccoli and roasted red peppers. Fantastic! Service was great (midweek). We'll be back!

Bartholomew's Pub really hit the spot. We were looking for a place to sit and relax, while enjoying a drink and good eats. Bartholomew's Pub is exactly what I envisioned when thinking of what a pub would be like. Awesome atmosphere and excellent service. Ceili, our waitress, was awesome. We had Fish and Chips, Beef Dip, wings, strips, and loaded fries. Everything was delicious. The beer was excellent. Bartholomew's Pub is a must when in Victoria, BC, Canada. Whether it's to have a cold brew, good eats, or hang out in a great atmosphere, you can't go wrong with Bartholomew's Pub.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]What a fun place to eat and enjoy Victoria![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of our first stops for lunch when arriving and it did not disappoint! I would highly recommend!

If you find yourself in Victoria looking for a good old fashioned pub look no further than Bartholomews! They allow kids until 9pm and they have a rock solid happy hour! The service was very friendly and the whole atmosphere was a warm pub "Cheers" vibe. They have TVs for hockey and a great local beer selection!

My son had the pizza, while I tried the poutine and toad in a hole, both of which were delicious.

I enjoyed my cod and chips. The mac and cheese was enjoyed by my kids. Be warned - a cheese pizza is just cheese on crust so its really heavy. Ambience wise it has an old atmosphere feel and the staff was great.

I was honestly shocked by how good the food was. I had initially assumed it might be a spot primarily for tourists, but a dear friend of mine who is a local mentioned that people in Victoria actually love coming here. She even noted that some friends from her children's school were there just the night before for an alumni weekend. The menu absolutely exceeded my expectations. I was blown away by the fish and chips; the fish was moist with a light batter and wasn't oily at all. The burgers, Irish stew, and shepherd's pie were all delectable as well. The real standout, however, was the sockeye salmon in a pesto preserved lemon broth--it was so addictive that I wish I could replicate the recipe at home. It is very easy to see why this spot has received so many accolades, and I would love to return the next time we are back in Victoria!

The bun was incredibly fresh, light, and pillowy, while the pork belly was melt-in-your-mouth tender with the perfect balance of richness and tang from the kimchi. The pickled vegetables added a bright crunch that tasted incredibly fresh. We started with the salmon tartare, and it was phenomenal! Rich, buttery, bursting with flavor, and so good we were literally fighting over the last bite. And the scallop? Order one for each person. Seriously. It's far too delicious to share. It had just the right amount of heat, leaving the perfect lingering warmth that immediately made us want another. Do yourself a favor and give yourself enough time to work your way through the menu, because every dish we tried was outstanding. Each plate was thoughtfully curated, beautifully executed, and cooked to perfection. I like to call it the C³ trifecta: curated, created, and cooked. Without question, this is some of the best food we've had in a very long time. We can't wait to come back (when visiting) and continue eating our way through the rest of the menu.

Ambiance was great - super warm and welcoming which was magnified by the host. Super lovely. Then the wait staff. Whoever is hiring/training is doing a great job! We also sat right beside the pick up window so it was fun seeing food come out! The food was fantastic. See pictures for what we ordered. Not sure if I can remember the names of everything but it was a perfect combo!!
