I wish I would have…read morethought to read the reviews before hand; I would have urged my male friend not to move there. Every time I went to visit it was something out of a nightmare. First of all, let me just say ROACHES!!! They supposedly spray twice a year. Well let me just say that sh!*t don't work! It got to the point that every time I went over there, I was either killing or witnessing roaches. My friend was very disturbed one particular morning he told me, when he went downstairs to do his laundry. The door was not yet opened. Upon opening the door & turning on the lights he witnessed all kinds of roaches fleeing from every which way. He was so disturbed that he could barely finish his laundry; which led him going else where to other laundry facilities. I personally witnessed german cockroaches as well as American cockroaches as per my research. Several times there was wasted garbage in the stairwells where people were too lazy to pick it up. The hallway corridors look like something out of the movie "The Shining". Now, back to the roaches. I've seen them crawling out of people's front doors in the hallway, smashed dead on the corridor walls, crawling on the carpeted floors in the hallway when I would come for a visit, inside of the apartment in the kitchen on the counters, under the sink, across the kitchen floor, even in the bedroom on occasion. Just totally ridiculous. Someone was talking to me about Bartlett Lake Apartments & said that they refused to move there because of them having a roach problem 20 years ago. I was blown away. I would not recommend anyone to live here unless they enjoy living in filth with creaky floors & loud obnoxious neighbors. Please! Do better if you can. Don't bother to come here.

She is strict but I feel that it is actually a very refreshing and great thing to have because we knew and felt that the property was kept up well and that we would be heard and taken of very well too. The tenants are her NUMBER ONE PRIORITY! Living here has been great. We have never really had any problems with our unit and any problems we bring to Linda are usually fixed within a 24-hour period. Communication with her is fantastic, and she is always available to listen to our concerns! She is also ALWAYS so warm and fantastic with my 2 kids even when they pester me to visit her office every time we walk past it! She is always willing to put aside time for YOU. If not for the fact that our family is simply getting just too big for the units they offer here, we would probably have continued to stay on. We will truly miss the amazing tenant care and service we have received at Parkside over the last 2 years. We are really going to miss living here. I think we experienced the usual challenges of downtown rental living, but management was always responsive and professional. Our unit -- and the living spaces throughout -- we're clean and maintained (of course, the maintenance and cleanliness of the tenant space is primatily the tenant's responsibility). Speaking from a nearly ten year perspective, we were very satisfied with Fountain Square. Now that we're back in a single-family home, I miss the conveniences, friendships, and consistency of Fountain Square living -- Amd we miss Elgin.

When I walked in, nobody greeted me and a woman walked out of the office and right away said "do you have an appointment" to which I replied that I was just stopping by and before I could finish my sentence she abruptly cut me off and told me that no body can help me if I don't have an appointment they are too busy, and then shut the door in my face. Extremely rude and unprofessional, and a huge red flag for the complex itself if these are the people that would be handling my inquiries if I did choose to live there. Parking was limited as you are only assigned one spot, but street parking is plentiful as long as you follow the odd/even rule properly. The apartment itself was lovely. We had a one bedroom corner unit. Beautiful wood floors and lots of windows (they didn't open and close very smoothly, but they did their job! We were lucky to have a lovely view of the lovely historic home just across the street, which had a beautifully maintained yard and often featured cats at play. Utilities weren't costly at all. Heat and hot water was included which meant we only paid for AC/electricity. The building manager, Mike was very friendly and highly responsive with every issue we did have. I couldn't speak more highly of him. We had an issue with a couple of our packages being stolen from the front entrance inside of the secured doors. We brought the problem up to him, and he had cameras installed all around the building about a week later! Though we only stayed in Elgin for a year, we couldn't have been more happy with our little home at 401 E Chicago!

We had squirrels, raccoons in our walls in the ceilings for six months. after many emails and attempts to get this fixed, they always would say we are working on it. Please bear with us. We also have gotten our car burglarized by getting our catalytic converter cut off in the middle of the winter. When we first moved there, they said they have security cameras that were watched 24 hours a day, which is a lie. I've gotten police reports and they asked me to talk to the property manager to get license plate detail from the cameras and they say they do not have any cameras there that they would have to watch it 24 hours a day and they will be responsible for any accidents on the property. To replace my catalytic converter cost me over $2000. One of their own workers that work inside the office was stealing rent money for years, roughly about $300,000 --$400,000 and they try to cover it up, By increasing rent that was originally agreed-upon $30 a year to Now $150 a year increase. They never fix anything incorrectly, they just put patch holes. Parking lot has nothing but potholes and cracks in it. Hallways they used to shampoo and clean, now they never do. It smells like wet mold. If I could give this place a zero, I definitely would worse apartments in Bloomingdale......
