I am a longtime customer of Bartlett Tree Services with multiple engagements over about 10 years. Unfortunately, based on my recent experience, I will no longer use this service and will actively discourage my friends and neighbors. I hired Bartlett Tree Services to remove a tree that was damaged by a storm and to replace that tree. 1. The company took an unacceptable time to complete the work. The assigned technician, Bryant Sunderman, was difficult to communicate with and went days, and sometimes weeks, without responding to texts or emails. He also demonstrated a lack of professionalism in communication. 2. The work, once completed, was unacceptable. While the tree removal went relatively smoothly, the new tree installation was very disappointing. The tree specimen was unsatisfactory. The tree had poor branching, which will most likely result in split at the branching location with any future stress (i.e., wind storm). The tree was held up by one very poorly installed support with a single loose wire. A proper installation would cover the wires to protect the tree and should be at two distinct heights. The tree roots were fully exposed. Additionally, the tree was installed completely off center from the target location, which had been marked by a flag. The tree was supposed to be installed equidistant between two accent lights, but instead it was 40% closer to one light than the other. 3. The installers damaged property. After the installation, one of the two accent lights was no longer functional. 4. Upon contacting Bryant to request a new tree specimen and to repair the shoddy work as part of the agreed-upon price of more than $900, the company offered excuses for the poor work and offered only to return to check the installation. Having seen the poor work completed the first time, this was no solace. 5. To fix the errors, I was forced to hire a separate landscape company to complete the new work, which cost an additional $300. For these reasons, I will no longer patronize this company and will discourage others from doing so. It's very disappointing. read more

I recently needed a very tall tree with many branches extending over my neighbor's yards trimmed. I was referred to Bartlett Tree Experts by a realtor friend. Eric met me to review the job and what he suggested should be done. I agreed with his estimate and had him tackle the job on May 1st. What I loved most was Eric did exactly what he said he would. He and his team of specialist promptly arrived at 7:30am. We reviewed what was to be done and his very experienced and cable tree experts, Hector and Cole began to work. They worked fast and efficiently to accomplish the goal at hand. Hector and Cole were experienced, professional and cordial during the job, answering every dumb question I asked. I first heard of Bartlett through a booth at the botanical gardens plant sale. Since they give free consultations I scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and give an estimate for treatment for our trees. While the initial estimate came back quickly it was extremely difficult to get a hold of the arborist and the office staff. Any rare communication I did get was extremely short and not helpful towards scheduling what needed to be done. I really felt like this company was giving me the run-around for some unknown reason. I see Bartlett Tree trucks in our neighborhood quite a bit which makes me wonder why they didn't want to complete services for my particular house. If they didn't want to work on my house or were unable to they should at least tell me and not leave me hanging, ya know? He has diagnosed issues with trees on our home property as well as in our HOA neighborhood with 100+ year old legacy pecan trees. He takes to the time to explain and show the possible diseases or insect issues with these legacy trees, and then provides recommendations. Where do I start! Beginning with Bryant, who patiently held my hand while I fretted over trimming my two 50 foot Pine Trees, the first time since they were planted 35 years ago! Bryant was very informative, knowledgable (not only a degree in this specialty but certification) and he made me understand and feel comfortable about all of the work to be done! He visited me at the start of the job, making sure everything was on track, and assured me I could call anytime with any questions. Now "my crew": Bryant told me he would send his most experienced and qualified Canary Isalnd Pine tree crew since the thinning and trimming was a challenge due to their fullness, height, and location on the property lines. Evan, Erica and Eddie arrived right at the scheduled time, and I was immediately impressed, first with their appearance, and then how friendly and warm they all were to me! I told them I was very "nervous" about the work to be done . . . as my trees, which I first planted when we moved in 35 years ago are very special to me . . . I enjoy looking at them every day! I asked Evan and Erica to sit with me in my home and look out my windows to understand how important the "finished" appearance and look of the trees is to me. They took the time to understand what my expectation was and to please do it right. Off they were, and my trees were not an easy assignment. I watched essentially all of their work, all three, while they let me choose some of the branches to trim, and some to keep (to preserve my view). All three of your wonderful crew did an INCREDIBLE job under challanging site conditions. I asked them to please make sure they cleaned both my adjoining neighbors yards and the HOA lakeside area, as all three surround my yard . . . In the end, you would never know your crew was there, having done massive trimming and removal! With the chipper work finished, they blew and cleaned the entire area and the street too, again leaving no trace they were ever there (thus avoiding any potential neighbor or HOA complaints)! Just to aggressive on the tree trimming charge. My fault as I should have asked what the would be first and then offered about $100 less. Was a very small tree with very small branches. We had a bad problem with insects in our trees, they were really damaging the trees and creating an issue with our pool. Bryant came out and immediately identified the issue. His crew came out and sprayed the trees and then applied a treatment to the roots. The following week they came out and trimmed all of the trees on our property. Everything looks great! The bugs are all gone and the trees are healthier. The grass under the canopy now gets more sun, and already looks better. The crew did a great job of hauling everything away, and used a broom and leaf blower when they finished so it all looked perfect. Highly recommend this company. read more

Bartlett Tree Experts have been trimming the Mediterranean Palms in my back yard for almost 20 years. They have this down. They know for me "less is more", and today, they really did a superb job. The three team members, Noah, Eddie and team leader Evan arrived and did a fabulous job. They spent time with me LISTENING and in minutes I knew - they had this. My skraggley juniper was trimmed like I like it - a perfect bonsai shape, but it happened in stages - Eddie trimmed, Evan walked back and examined, Evan trimmed, walked back and checked - like it was brain surgery for them - they were that meticulous. The Mediterranean palms were painstakenly trimmed by Noah, and afterward breathed a breath of relief "we can finally breath again", and my Queen looked like true royalty. I had spoken to Chris Howell from Bartlett Tree Services about taking care of some trees at the house I recently purchased. I had 2 trees in the front shaped and thinned. There was another small tree in front that had been breaking so they removed it. During the process, Chris checked with me to ask if I was happy with the work that was being done. I mentioned a couple spots I wanted addressed and they were taken care of. In the backyard, I had a very big palm tree removed. They did a great job. And there was another tree - also a huge tree - which had developed two trunks off of the main one. One side was curling downward which could have had future problems, especially if it got weakened or was hit by lightening, so they trimmed that side and cabled it to the other side to give it strength. Then they came back and ground down the stumps from the trees that were removed. Everyone who worked on the trees was very professional, efficient and cleaned up beautifully. Chris communicated with me continually before, during and after the job to make certain everything was to my liking. Tammie in the office called me afterward to ask if I was happy with the work. For the record, I did not do business with this company. With that said, I did have a "arborist" come out to my house. He pushed to have his company trim the trees in my yard which is understable as that's what they do. However, when I offered to give him $100 if he could walk around my lot with me and to give me advice on my trees and what I should do to them he refused. He claimed it was not worth it and they wouldn't make enough money if they didn't do the actual work. I'm thoroughly confused if someone is turning down $100 for less than 30 minutes of professional advice and more concerning is how much are these guys over-charging to do their services where $100 for 30 minutes is not worth it to them. This lost any trust I had for this company. I ended up having another company come out who gladly took my money and gave me good advice. read more

This tree service is really wonderful! Just had them out to trim two large trees on our property, and four young men spent four solid hours on them! They moved all of the pots and other things that were in their way, carefully put everything back when they were finished, cleaned up even leaves on the ground that were already there, and the trees look wonderful! My trees and shrubs were examined by a trained, licensed Arborist, Bryant Sunderman who was pleasant and professional that made recommendations and did not over sell. I have dealt with other tree services in the past and it has been pricey and the trimming and fertilizing questionable. This Service isn't cheap, but reasonable, fair and done right. Justin-the material application tech is personable and pays attention to detail. I used Bartlett Tree for nearly 20 years for my home near San Francisco, and have been using them in Arizona for the past three years. They have pruned the trees in my yard twice -- several Mesquite, Palo Verde, and Ironwood trees -- and applied sub-soil pesticide to get rid of insects infecting the roots of one tree.
