Gehringer Mechanical always does decent work for us, and they get out to us in a timely fashion…read more All the techs are good to deal with. Tim Ruhl was the tech for our last Service request. He got all the lighting issues resolved, and with minimal interruptions to our office staff.

Beware if you choose to use this company for your plumbing and heating needs!…read more I am glad that I didn't let Gehringer steal 17k out of my pocket for a new heater that I did not need. Sorry Gehringer, you couldn't get the 17k out of me, but maybe you will have better luck with other customers going forward! Facts: Gehringer Mechanical came out to clean my heater as they did in previous years. Upon paying the bill the technician mentions that I have a CO leak and need a new heater. The technician did not provide any back up data to his findings to show me. (Nor could they provide any when I asked for it). Luckily for me, I decided to get other opinions from other heating companies only to find that Gehringer lied to me. I had no CO leak and my heater was fine. Was Gehringer really trying to try to sell me a heater? When I called Gehringer to confront them on the findings, they were trying to find excuses! I demanded that they send me out another one of their technicians free of charge to prove to me that I really need a new heater. When their second technician came out and did the testing with the meters, everything was fine. NO CO leak and I was told the heater was good and safe to use. They even sent their equipment for testing to see if calibration was off, and as I expected it was fine! There is no explanation as to why the original technician told me I needed a new heater. I was also told that they will not hold their employee accountable for this, because he is their best technician! If this is the best your company has then you don't have much of a company in my opinion. Seriously, do you really want to have a reputation as a dishonest company? Gehringer claims this was just a simple accident. I am not sure how they can call this an accident. Your technician intentionally told me I need a heater knowingly that I did not. I am not sure this qualifies as an "accident".

Our boiler was not working in Dec 2025 and we had Caleb M from Arctic Enterprises come to service…read moreit. He did work and claimed he resolved the boiler issues. We began having the same issues again in Feb 2026 as the boiler would intermittently shut off. We called him and emailed on a Monday morning as we had not had hot water through the weekend. He did not respond for many hours and then told us that he would have to get back to us later. On Tuesday he said he would have to call IBC and get back to us. It was not until Wednesday evening when we called and texted him and again, that he told us that IBC was having issues with their boilers and it needed a software update. He said he would go to the supplier and see about getting a USB stick and ask them about said software update. We looked it up and attempted the software update. It did not work and we told him this at 8am Thursday morning. Still no hot water for us. He then said that "IBC was having issue with the update crashing the module on certain version, unfortunately the only way to bring it back to life is to replace the control module and reconfigure the boiler" He then told us it would cost 1386.77 + GST and labour on top of that. We responded "If this is IBC tech problem that crashes their equipment then why should we be responsible for the replacement cost?" He responded "IBC didn't tell us to install it, I said I was going to ask if the update applied to the existing software. Here's IBC's tech support number if you want to give them a call." He did in fact tell us that the software update was required and on IBC's information site, they state that the software update does apply to our model. We responded "We called on Monday and have had hot water issues for five days now not including the intermittent working of it since you came to wok on it in December. The work you completed and we paid for in December did not fix the issue. This boiler was worked on in Feb 2025, April 2025, July 2025, Dec 2025 and is now again not working. Hopefully you can understand our frustration with paying for work that does not fix the issue. This boiler was only 5 years old when it stopped working last Feb" Then he said "IBC tech was hard to get ahold of and unfortunately that's out of my control. If you're unhappy with my services I understand if you'd like to go with someone else. Estate mechanical is really good with IBC boilers if you'd like a second opinion. I have other jobs booked today and tomorrow sorry for the inconvenience." We texted back "So you never had any intention of coming this week and planned to leave us with no hot water for over a week?" It seemed that he never had any intention or had not booked any time to come service our boiler at all this week. All he had told us was that he would go into the supplier and ask them on Thursday morning. Then he messaged the following "I said I would call and check if the update applied this morning, you did it yourself so stop messaging me, I'm blocking you now". This is such unprofessional service. We were seeking help, after he had preformed service less than two months previous for the same issue on the boiler. We feel he did not respond in a timely manner and that after our questions he chose the immature response of "I'm blocking you" We would not recommend seeking service from Caleb M.

They were on time, checked out the AC, added coolant and then took a quick peek at the furnace. They said both look good for the age (17 years) and should be good for a while. I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.
