Five stars on this company. I brought in two watches. The one watch just needed a battery. My other watch needed to be repaired. I had taken my watch to a major clock and repair business in the Berea, Ohio area. For years they replaced my battery and pins in the band, always telling me that its not the pins, but the hole had widen and it will keep falling out. The last time they did not put the battery in right and bent the hour hand. I thought my favorite expensive watch was broke. My wife new how much I like my watch and for christmas bought me an expensive watch. I liked it but liked my old watch more. I called the jewelry shop and they informed me about Basch's repair business. It turned out the reason my watch was not working correctly, is the hour hand was bent when the other store put in the last battery (young know it all man). Basch's watch repair expert realized there was a broken pin stuck in the pin hole, and unbent the hour hand. Watch looks and works like the day I bought it ten years ago. I took my watch in for repair before Christmas to Basch's. My watch had a pusher that popped out and I spoke to Norm about fixing it. They were very nice about it and told me they would get it back after the holidays. They get it done in a timely manner. I went on a business trip the following week to another time zone, and when I go to change the hour the dial comes out of the watch on the plane. I store the piece and the stem snapped. I took it back to Basch's and spoke to Norm about the bad repair job. He takes the watch and seemed to be put out and like it was my fault. They take the watch and didn't give me an estimated time to fix. I called 3 weeks later and they seemed angry that I was calling. The lady said they don't know when it will be fixed. Almost 2 months later I get the watch and they had the audacity to charge me for the repair that they messed up. Never got a sorry or anything. They had my watch for over 2.5 months. Other people had good experiences. This was mine. They never apologized for the poor work and were fairly rude to me. read more

As someone who is new to the area, I relied on Yelp to help me find a locally owned jewelry shop, that specializes in the restoration and repair of watches. I needed a new band put on an old watch, and certainly expected to pay for the service. Norm did the work right then and there, to my delight. While I waited, Mary cleaned two pieces of jewelry for me, and explained to keep silver from tarnishing. When both were done, there was no charge for the services! I was astounded, truly, by both the expertise of the work, and the genuine kindness of the people that work there. Amazing customer service! I stopped in to have my husbands watch looked at because it had stopped working. Mary took care of me & was wonderful. She insisted on cleaning my wedding ring while the watch was being checked out which was so sweet. She was very upfront about the process on how they would attempt to charge the watch first (free of charge)& then next step would be to change the capacitor which was $48. Luckily the watch just needed a good charge. When I came to pick the watch up a few days later, Mary remembered me & offered to clean my ring again. I had two very special watches which were in sad condition. A beautiful beloved Bulova and an Elgin pocket watch, both family heirlooms. Both needed extensive repair and cleaning. I could not be more pleased with the results. Both are beautiful and working as they should. From time to time I will take the Bulova back for a tuneup (I gave the Elgin to a family member). And each time they do great work. If you have an important timepiece that need repair this is the only place to take it. No disappointment here. Plus the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. I had an awful experience with Norm Basch and his shop. I took my vintage Tudor Submariner watch bracelet in because the folded link was damaged. I asked the girl at the front desk if it could be replaced with my spare undamaged link. Without allowing me to speak with the watchmaker, she takes it to the back. Instead of replacing the link, they add the link. The girl at the front apologizes to me and I ask them to please remove the correct link, but in the process the spare link which was undamaged is now damaged. I realize these old folded links are difficult to adjust, but the lack of communication was frustrating. When I asked to speak to the watchmaker, Norm Basch comes out and gives me a condescending lecture about what they did and argues with me about what just happened (I'm pretty sure he was not even the one who initially worked on the bracelet). He tries to fix it, but is unsuccessful. I try to explain to him what just happened but he argues with me more. Then he just walks away without saying anything. Then the girl at the front begins to start charging me for the damage they did to my watch bracelet. After she saw how astounded I was, she didn't charge me. Now I'm left with a damaged vintage watch bracelet which will be difficult and costly to replace. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

After letting my watch gather dust for months, I finally went out to get the batteries replaced. I didn't want to go to one of the places in the mall, so I hit up Google and found these guys. Super friendly staff and they had me back up and running in about 5 minutes. I nosed around while they were working on my watch and they had a pretty interesting selection of old pocket watches, jewelry and clocks in the store. It also looked like they have a pretty sizable workshop area in the back to do repairs. The only reason I'm not doing a full five stars is because I don't know enough about clocks/watches to speak intelligently on the subject. Since all I needed was a battery I can't really speak to anything else. I can say that my experience was great and whenever I need a new battery, or if I ever need repairs, this is the first place I'll be coming back to! read more

We have used them twice and each time service was fast and done right. Replaced the crystal on my Movado watch. I would trust them with any high end watch you have. While waiting for a quick battery replacement on our last visit they cleaned my wife's ring with out being asked. The chain stores could use a lesson from them. I will never patron this "jewelry" establishment again. I brought a watch in for repair and waited two weeks without a status update or phone call. When I called them, they informed me that absolutely no progress had been made, and that they were still trying to find the part to the watch. Really? Two weeks without any sort of status update? I found them hideously unprofessional and rude. They didn't apologize for the wait, or for not giving me a call to tell me two weeks had gone by without ANY progress. When I told them I wanted to come in to retrieve the watch, they were rude. Sorry, but last I checked the customer should be served. I will NEVER go back to Basch's again, and I wouldn't recommend any potential new business to step foot inside. read more
