I am glad I bought my gold before this last rip. The US regime is on its last legs and has printed USD into oblivion. Stock market, gold, housing haven't made tremendous gains, it is just our dollar is losing power. I used to shop at Dewitt downtown, it is too much trouble to find parking etc... I visited here a few weeks ago and have been meaning to make a review. I came in with a broken chain and they quoted me $35 for the repair and about 3 days, which is the best price and time I've ever been quoted on a repair. After one day they called me to tell me it was already finished. They then proceeded to only charge me $20. I immediately told everyone I know about this place, I wish I could give them 10 stars. It sounds funny to say you have a jeweler. But, yeah, that's what I say when I recommend this place to others: "You should go to my jeweler- Emerald City on Brookpark near Ridge Rd. " I've been coming here for years. They secured my loyalty long ago when I was venturing to get my wedding ring reset. Other jewelers would pull out their book of findings and fittings where the prices were right there in black and white and then quote me double the price. Disgusted, I looked for yet another place to go and since I love "The Wizard of Oz" I thought I'd give them a try. Glad I did. Only Emerald City gave me a reasonable no-bullshit price. I've since recommended them to my sister who got our mother's wedding ring refurbished for her own upcoming nuptials. I've consistently been impressed with the service here. They always take a genuine interest and go the extra mile even if you're just stopping in to get your rings cleaned. Oh, and I love looking at the tchotchkes. I have purchased a number of items from the store as a few of my family members have as well. Aside from the really great service, no pressure atmosphere, you can't get a better deal on jewelry. I just shopped with my son for an engagement ring and going to another store (in the Mall), the manager just deflated in front of us when she asked us where we had shopped, saying " well.. they sell wholesale and we can't get to where they are(pricing)." They were about 38% more and that doesn't even count that the quality and clarity were even less the Emerald City piece! FYI, my brother had purchased a large diamond ring a few years back from Emerald City and took the ring to a number of other jewelry stores to confirm he had done well. All of them did with one saying "not only can't we even GET something that size and quality, but we would be almost double the price if we could!" That was an exact quote. read more

I have an old pink sapphire ring that I was looking to sell. After googling estate jewelers, I found this store. After reviewing their website and reading the entire section they have devoted to selling estate jewelry, I decided to stop in and possibly get a reasonable offer. The older gentleman who helped me simply weighed the gold portion of the ring and offered me $22. I explained that I was selling the entire ring including the stone. He looked at the ring and said "Well, I have no way of knowing what this is." He then asked if I wanted him to remove the stone. Thanks, but no thanks. I would think anyone employed in a jewelry store would have some knowledge of gemstones, estate or not. Not here. I would be very leary of making any type of purchase here. This review is a little late in coming... In May, my guy and I took the Lake Erie Scenic Route out to Huron for some kickin' hamburgers at this place right on the beach. After burgers, we went for a walk on the beach where he got down on one knee and proposed. Beautiful ring, it was his mother's. I jammed that sucker on my finger. Beautiful, but snug. On our drive back to Cleveland we called every jeweler in the book asking about getting it resized - every single place told us that they were closing and wouldn't be able to look at the ring... and even if they would, it would take two weeks to resize it and return it. Disappointed, we decided to call one last place - Emerald City Jewelers. They were closing in 45 minutes and it was going to take us 30 to get there. They were welcoming and inviting and gave us a good humored, "As long as you make it before closing!" We made it. One of the salesmen looked at the ring and after hesitation gave us a rough ballpark of what he thought the resizing would be - an incredibly fair price. He said that barring any unforeseen circumstances, we could probably pick it up tomorrow. The next day, I got the call to pick up the ring and received an apology - the estimate was going to be more because due to the rings age and wear the price would be slightly higher because the settings had to be tightened so the diamond and rubies wouldn't fall out... but the price was still incredibly fair and not far off from the original estimate. The work was beautiful and the ring fit perfectly. And I had it with minimal waiting. I could show it off to everyone! But the entire takeaway from this whole situation.... 1. They were speedy 2. The work was good. 3. The price was disgustingly reasonable. 4. This is the most important part - working in a jewelry store, I cannot even begin to fathom how many engagement and wedding rings pass through their doors. How many congratulations they pass on to customers and how many bridezillas and bridezillas-to-be that they encounter. But each and every person we talked to seemed to care about how important this was to me. They were sincere and cared and were respectful and even though I knew the things I was asking them for were probably ridiculous and out of line (coming in 15 minutes before close... asking for the resize ASAP) they were nice and good natured and had the kindness not to squash my excitement by trying to reign in my ridiculous demands - they tried to meet and exceed them. My girlfriend gave me a fossil watch recently and I fell in love with it immediately, just needed a few links taken out. I had to get something at Walmart and thought maybe they could do it, they said they could, then their tool broke and told me to come back later, I did and was told they couldn't do it again because the associate wasn't trained. Was sent to another Walmart 20 mins away and was told that the policy was never to touch a fossil it was against all Walmart policy and the first Walmart was in the wrong. After being incredibly frustrated, I was driving home and passed Emeralds. I did not want to stop in because I heard most jewelers are very expensive for a simple link removal but decided to stop in anyways. I was greeted by a very nice man at the counter! Right away he had noticed that the pin moved by Walmart was in the wrong place, and said he would also fix that while taking out the link. Not only did he fix it and remove a link, he suggested one more link and was happy to go back and remove one more. He was incredibly helpful and happy to be there assisting me. I now have a watch that I love with a great fit. The store is also very nice and well organized, I had an amazing experience and would 100% go back and recommend. LASTLY, remember when I said most jewelers are expensive? Not this one! All of that only cost me $5 and it was very quick service, I was in there maybe 20 mins max!
