FIRST EXPERIENCE: I had my first tattoo done at Chicago Tattoo Co during Covid. The artist did an amazing job, it's beautiful, I practically fell asleep during the appointment, the lines were clean and the steadiness of their hand was impressive. No blow outs or anything. They made sure I was happy with the size and placement. Wonderful experience. Unfortunately, that artist seems to have since left their business. MOST RECENT EXPERIENCE: The second interaction I had at Chicago Tattoo Co was with Tim. I recently lost my dog who was a huge part of my life for 14 years. I was looking to get a piece done of her that looked "faded" as if she were just beyond the veil. I brought an awful sketch with me that I did in about 30 seconds in my car before going in. I can't draw, but I wasn't trying to create something good anyways. Just something to express the "faded" idea I had in my head, since I couldn't explain it with words. Instead of trying to understand what I meant, Tim's first reaction was to judge the drawing. He said things like "I'm trying to be nice" and "no one will know what this is" "it could be a pig"... Once we got past the -its just an example- conversation, he moved on to the size and details of the piece. He said "good" tattoos have to be a certain size and I needed to go bigger. I was not willing to go bigger. By the end of the conversation, he had insulted my quick sketch, my idea, and many people who have tattoos currently that don't live up to his standards. I felt bad for those who have tattoos they love that he crapped all over. He literally called them "shitty tattoos". RECOMMENDATION: I cannot recommend Tim for literally anyone, despite his obvious talent and skill. A man that only appreciates the work he'd do himself is not an artist I'd want tattooing me, because they're likely to have trouble listening. However, Chicago Tattoo is a hub of very talented individuals in general, and its a clean environment. I have attached an image of the sketch I brought in and another sketch that took me about 8 minutes. The second is closer to what we discussed in person, but I can't imagine the first is SO bad that he really couldn't understand what I meant through conversation...it was just a visual aid anyways.. Side Note: Wether someone else likes or recognizes what your tattoo is shouldn't matter. It's what the art piece represents to the person getting it done. Get whatever you want. :) read more

I found Chicago Tattoo by searching for good reviews and best Tattoo parlor in Orlando. I am from Indianapolis originally, so a place from Chicago was also very appealing to me. I came in March of 2023 to see the physical location, meet the artists and make a consultation appointment. I was referred to Fred. Fred is a 25 year veteran of tattooing and a straight shooter. He specializes in 3-D tattooing which is what I wanted. I am over 65 and he was kind, honest and explained the science behind what happens to ink in older skin. He told me exactly what I needed to hear to decide the best tattoo for me (and very professionally explained why the design I had picked out wasn't the best for me, nor the location, and why). I was disappointed sure, but I will be wearing this tattoo a long time and highly respect his previous experiences and opinions. Having the facts up front is exactly what I wanted. Chicago tattoo was such a great experience. They take your temperature and have you wash your hands before coming in. Everyone wore a mask and it was a very clean shop. They really take the time to help you figure out what you want. I was at a consultation for over an hour trying to find the perfect design for my tattoo and the guy at the front was so helpful and patient the entire time. I was looking to get a clean minimalistic tattoo to pay homage to my life long following and pride which is Real Madrid CF. I am not going to lie, I did do some shopping around, but Chicago was by far the best looking shop, and it emitted a good vibe, a place where I did not feel intimidated or made me feel as an outsider. I was approached by Will, and he herd my ideas, gave me some pointer and sketched out a better rendering of my original design. As my face turned to amazed I asked him "when he would be able to do it?", and as I finished the sentence he stated "right now... Why wait?" So I agreed. I was amazed as Will, meticulously and with some level of obsessive compulsive disorder, prepped his work area for the job at hand. Very profesional. Getting the Tattoo done was the easy part, and throughout the process I chatted up with some other members of the Chicago Tattoo Team such as Von, Rocky, and Fred. They made me feel welcome as they did to their other customer who where getting ink of there own. This review is for fred. For being extremely rude and insensitive. I went to Chicago tattoo for a small zodiac sign tattoo for my brother that just passed away. He did the tattoo upside down saying he never saw the image and just tatted it, came up with different excuses. How does one not see the image I showed them and you came up with these bogus prices and printed the image.He pretty much said it wasn't his problem. So I asked him hey let's come up with something to fix it and he said theres nothing he can do, pretty much my problem. He was very arrogant unprofessional. I've worked with plenty of artists and not ever met someone so rude and insensitive like Fred. And was over charged. read more

On June 10, at 63, I got my very first tattoo. I had been thinking of getting one for many years. I'm leaving a review now (weeks after I got it) because I wanted to wait and see what the final product would be. Bottom line: I'm tickled pink and am glad I went to Chicago Tattoo. I'd recommend them to anyone. My first consult with Faith and Fred was very informative. My original plan was completely different from what I finally decided, based on recommendations from Faith and Fred and their expertise. After I thought about my Plan B, the design Faith prepared was exactly what I had envisioned. Before anything else, she made sure it was what I wanted and where I wanted it placed on my arm. Faith was meticulous and a perfectionist during the entire process--from the design to generating the tattoo. The procedures for sanitation also appeared to be top-notch. What I'd like everyone to know--especially those who have never had a tattoo--is the following. The process of getting the tattoo was not particularly painful, but it was very time-consuming. The healing process was more painful than getting the tattoo, but that may be an individual by individual thing, depending on the complexity of the tattoo, where it's placed, and your body's healing mechanisms. I was in the studio for about 6 hours for mine. The more complex and intricate the tattoo, the more time is likely needed for the artist. You may want to find out, first, approximately how long it will take so you won't be surprised and make plans for that same day that you'll have to cancel. If you are single and don't have anyone at home to help apply anti-bacterial medicine or lotion, you may want to re-think getting a tattoo on your back or other area where you cannot reach while the design is healing (just my personal opinion). Faith informed me that the healing process would take 4 to 5 weeks and she was right. Patience is a virtue while your design is healing. The first day you get it, the area may look red and inflamed and you may think--wow, this is the way it's going to look weeks from now, but it will settle down a bit with some of the stencil disappearing and the red areas healing. Bactine spray was my friend and I used it often, as well as antibacterial gel. For the first 2 weeks, my tattoo area felt like a very bad sunburn. Because I had no intention of hot water from the shower hitting the area on my arm that already felt like a sunburn, I covered it (wet wipes and plastic wrap) while I bathed and it worked like a charm. During the healing process, parts of the design looked more red and irritated than others, the design looked like it was fading (but it wasn't), colors looked like they were changing (but they weren't), and by the third week, the skin settled down and the design area began peeling, with some areas a little raised and "bubbly" looking. Ultimately, the time that Faith took to be so detailed paid off. I've gotten compliments on the tattoo and it's not even done healing yet. Thank you Chicago Tattoo and thank you Faith! If I get a hankering for more ink, I'll be back! read more

My boyfriend and I have both been tattooed by Caroline. She's hilarious and very talented. I've never seen a bad tattoo come out of this place (I have friends who have been tattooed here as well). As for Covid guidelines, I felt very safe coming in (note: went alone per safety guidelines) and was asked to wash my hands before entering the lobby. I called ahead of time to make sure capacity allowed for the visit. Also wore a mask, everyone in the building was wearing a mask so no complaints there! Definitely schedule a consultation and see if Chicago can take care of you. Reasonable prices and talented artists. Went to get a tattoo by Norbert. I gave him a design to clean up and he did it perfectly. He did exactly what I asked for and did it well. I also tend to pass out with needles and he did an incredible job to make sure I was okay and ready to continue. The tattoo barely hurt (it is located on the inside of my forearm). I had my first tattoo done here almost a year ago by Marten. A couple of friends recommended that I go here, and I am incredibly happy that I did! The shop is clean, the portfolios are organized along the walls, they have good music playing, and the jewelry is displayed neatly. I got a simple tattoo, and it was definitely uncomfortable (I got it on my ribs), but it passed by quickly. I found this shop after being referred by one of my good friends. It had been years since I have gotten a tattoo, and I didn't know if any personally here in Orlando. When I first walked in, the shop seemed to be cold and unwelcoming, but that really changed as soon as I started talking to the artists. I ended up going with Von, and I don't regret that decision. Freddie is amazing for piercings. Nicole did her research to get her ears re-pierced after two piercing failures over 5 years. You have to be 16 and need a form notarized with parent present. But Freddie took time a few days ahead of time to talk to us. I hope my review doesn't make this place unpopular to the 'cool kids,' but I heard they had a good reputation and I wasn't disappointed. We visited another shop and they pale in comparison of thoroughness and focus on quality of materials. I recommend to anyone over 16, which is the only folks they will service. :) read more
