This location is a joke compared to the ones that we've been to in Phoenix, Sedona, and Camp Verde. The manager of the deli clearly does not want to have to do his job or even be at his job. Why in the world would you be in a customer facing job if you're that unhappy? This deli manager also said they would be doing away with the five dollar daily deals at all stores and he was throwing a temper tantrum about having to shred chicken for the chicken pot pies. All the employees are professional, and very nice. Never had any issues. I prefer the bakery department at bashes instead of Frys and Safeway. The donuts taste like the old fashioned bakery donuts. I don't like Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts, i prefer the old fashioned donuts. The cakes are better than frys, Safeway. It's best to call ahead to see what they have. They have all kinds of bread, variety of cheese, deli, hot meals...they used to have red and green deep-fried burritos, they don't have the red burritos anymore. Produce, and organic produce, a whole liquor dept, meat dept are helpful. They have frozen food, ice cream/desserts. They have a Starbucks. I believe they carry crushed and block of ice as well as water filling machine outside, I'm not too sure if they still carry small propane bottles. Decent size store near the hotel I was staying in. Went in to get some snacks And water for my room and had to make a trip the next day when I had a hangnail and realized I didn't have nail clippers First trip I did self checkout. Worked pretty well except I realized I picked up a few items that were on sale for a good discount and I didn't have a number to put in for the discount . Did not want to sign up as I am not a local but wanted the savings. Asked the person working the self checkout area if he had a number he could use because I wasn't local and he said no. They do this at stores in my area so I thought it Was a universal thing - guess not Luckily the customer at the register behind me offered to input her number so I could get the savings - thanks mystery lady ! Second day I did regular checkout and the cashier was very friendly . I've visited this location several times on my days off on Sundays and there's no one to help get fresh meat behind the counter. So I went on a Saturday in the middle of the afternoon and there was ZERO seafood. The whole reason I went there prior was for Cod. It's Saturday... middle of the day and Zero seafood. I understand you need to sanitize but on a Saturday afternoon there's your window to sanitize.... BULLSHIT. And the one person helping several customers looked liked he went on a meth bender with Jack Daniels. When I came in at about 4:30pm there was only ONE person working in the deli, Amber and she did a great job handling all the people's requests graciously all by herself. (Another gentleman joined her around 5 and was working his butt off too. Sorry, but I'm from Tucson and our Bashas' has from 3-6 people working at all times. For any manager/leadership reading this (which I hope), my experience occurred on Sunday, September 3, at about 12:30 PM. It wasn't busy, despite it being Memorial Day weekend. When I went to check out, I forgot my Bashas phone number (a really old number from a long-gone landline; plus, my wife usually does the shopping there. ) and I became flustered. Feeling pressured by the cashier, a young woman, to enter a new phone number via text messaging, I entered it wrong, which made me more flustered. The cashier offered me no help. I had asked what the discount was, the cashier said she didn't know. I told her to forget the phone number and would just pay the regular cost. I also told her didn't want the receipt. After I paid, and was heading out, I realized my groceries were really expensive. I had no idea not using a phone number cost me a lot more on groceries. So I went back in and asked for my receipt. She said it was too late, she had "already thrown it in the trash." I said I'd get it, and I went next to her cash register and fished it out from the little bucket of trash below her conveyor belt. I eventually got customer service to help me. I entered a new phone number, and was refunded $32 on my grocery bill. Anyway, I've lived in Flagstaff over 50 years and have been a patron of the store before it became Bashas. Further, as a young man, I worked as a bag boy and a stocker at four different grocery stores. I know the gig. My cashier was awful. Not only was she nearly zero help, it was obviously beneath her to reach down to grab my receipt located at the top of her little trash bin, but it was OK for me (a "valued customer") to do it while she stood and watched. They not only have the best fresh meat, they bend over backwards and make it their pleasure to check on all of their backup for the glass coolers for bacon and etx. And personally wrap your orders expertly. They are like family to us and our friends that drive from Holbrook to Taylor for their delicious meats. Best Bashas in the AZ! First off, Bashas, makes the best donuts ever. EVER! They are made in house every morning. My kids love the Chocolate filled with buttercream frosting. They call it the whip cream doughnut because it looks like whip cream is coming out of the top. The cherry fritters are the absolute best and no other donut can top "the fritter." The bakery chick was super helpful and had the best smile. They had a health food section and everything I was looking for. If you are a working class citizen in Flagstaff this is not the place to go if you want if you want to get meat from the meat deli. I showed up at 6:55pm after I got off work and they already had their meat covered in plastic. The guy said he wouldn't serve me because they closed. Yet their website says they're open until 7pm. But the guy wouldn't serve us. I love their meat products at the deli. But I will no longer go there because of the way that guy at the deli treated me and how the manager handled it. En route to Scottsdale, AZ my family and I stopped in Flagstaff for a few days. Visited Bashas' in Woodlands Village as it was nearby and we needed fruits and other foods. Gwen in bakery dept. welcomed us and offered to assist. In the afternoon, I began eating one of the mangoes and its flesh was discoloured. Slice the others and they were all the same. Three days later, bought Resers original potato salad (3 lb) and macaroni salad (1 lb) for dinner. My daughter was opening them and exclaimed... the potato salad was expired! I returned to the store, went to Renee, our cashier earlier. She told me to get another one and as I looked through their freezer of remaining Resers containers, all was past expiration except for one. I told Renee and her response was she'll get someone to move them. And on our last and final visit the same occurred, bought cup of Organic Oatmeal - Full Circle market brand, checked it upon purchase and items was more than a month past the 'best before date'. My eldest daughter brought it to the Manager's attention and our money was refunded. Absolutely unacceptable selling expired foods. Shoppers beware or go elsewhere. read more

Basha's is my store choice, and will only go there out of desperation. I'd rather drive to the other side of town for a gallon of milk. Every time I've been there in the last 6 months, the only cashier open is the 15-Item-Limited express lane. Meanwhile, the self-checkout line is a mile long. Every other scan seems to fail, and if you have a cart full, checkout takes forever. I know everyone is trying to manage the minimum wage - but no where else in town has service suffered more than this store. Worst experience here this morning! We were looking for a small pre lunch food so thought Basha's is a good choice since we visited and ate at other Basha's locations. But this location has very bad service, rude lady at the "hot meal" bar. How ironic that the "hot meal" section does not have anything hot and she plain refused to heat anything up. We had ordered for a crab cake, empanada, steak roll and beef stew. We were given stone cold items, ALL OF THE ITEMS WERE STONE COLD. It's not even in compliance with food and hygiene regulations if hot items are cold when served. The beef stew was so cold that the fat had formed a layer. We wanted to have the food at their dining corner so asked for a spoon or fork. She handed one when asked for two. She just couldn't care less. Her attitude was deplorable. All she said was NO for everything. No wonder this business is bought out by a California group. Basha's has a tagline "an AZ family legacy@ Shame we are losing this legacy to CA. So, my wife purchased some chicken that was on sale... a Manager's special. When we got home, the chicken was spoiled and smelled absolutely horrible. Clearly it would make someone sick if they were to eat it. We called Bashas' to let them know what had happened and were unable to get a manager on the phone. The cashier that we talked with could care less that they sold us rank chicken. The following day, we were able to get in touch with a manager. However, she never apologized and showed no remorse for nearly getting our family sick with spoiled chicken. We will definitely not be going back to that place. Today was not a good shopping experience for me at the Woodland's Bashas. I always try to shop their to shop local. Today I bought some Produce and stocked up on beer and liquor. At check out I asked if they would double bag my items with the plastic bag on the outside of the paper bag. This keeps breakable items from rolling around and also would have kept my produce cooler. The boy at the check out acted like, why do you want that, and was sort of put out by having to do it. The girl was nice enough to start. I wasn't paying attention to the bagging as the boy stuffed everything into the one bag with my organic bag of tomatoes on the bottom. When I didn't see the tomatoes anywhere, and I saw the stuffed bag I asked where my tomatoes went? He said he didn't see them and she said no I know I put them on the scale. l told them I didn't want them crushed. Long story short they were on the very bottom of the bag. I told the boy I'm sorry but you try not to crush stuff, he just gave me the 'so what' look. I started trying to rebag myself as he was not wanting to be at all helpful. The girl came and basically just put all my groceries and liquor in my cart with a couple empty bags, and for me to move on. The boy walked off... I went over to the manager who was nearby, to see if he knew how this boy was packing groceries and really acting insolent to customers for no real reason other than he didn't want to and didn't know how. He just kind of smirked to himself as well and said he would give me some kind of credit for my tomatoes. I said no thanks as I was just another older woman and not worth 2 cents. So somehow I'm the bad guy for not wanting my soft produce in the bottom of the bag with liquor bottles on top. It made me feel really sad and low as well. I hope Basha's owner's will review the video of this incident which occurred today around 1:00 pm. They can see for themselves what happened. For me, I'm done there now. I do know many of the bagger staff are excellent and usually the checkers are too. But this has done it for me. No respect for the customer and the manager is fine with it? Not happening... There were NO employees on the floor to help me. Then I get to the checkout and the apple pay system wasn't working. I literally left the store empty handed. I really enjoy the West Side Basha's. I have *never* had to return meat to this store, the staff is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. When I need a special order, the manager is always very friendly and accommodating. My favorite place to buy groceries! Nice health food section as well & very reasonable priced. I live literally 2 minutes from this store but I never go here unless I need 1 thing quickly. For big grocery trips, I hit up Fry's and (to a lesser extent) Safeway. The prices at Bashas' are sky-high when compared to WalMart, Safeway, and Fry's. When I buy regular items here, I notice the prices are about 10-15% higher than when I buy them at Fry's or Safeway. The interior of this store is outdated by about 20 years. They need a renovation BADLY. The produce area feels like a cave with its poor spacial lighting and low ceiling. The signs they make for product displays around their store are probably the biggest reason I don't want to give them my money. For an extended period of time (at least a couple months), they had a display next to one of the front doors on the inside that read "Fresh Ground Nut Butter's". ... Yeah. With an apostrophe. I'm not the grammar police, but if everybody who works in that store neither knows the proper grammar nor decides to fix it, what does that say for the rest of the store? What else aren't they doing/fixing? Products are never in the logical place on the shelves. I've felt like I was on Supermarket Sweep when trying to locate soup mixes, brown mustard, and buttermilk in the store. Employees have walked right behind me (sometimes scrambling to get around me) while I scratched my head and looked puzzled without even stopping to ask if I needed help, let alone muttering an "Excuse me." Front-end staff are always either emotionally neutral or would rather carry on a personal conversation with a fellow associate two checkout lanes over, sometimes even regarding the store they work in and their feelings toward it. (I could tell you a multitude of stories...) The bakery department is one of the few areas of the store I can appreciate. More than a few times, I've driven over there for a loaf of bread right before dinner or early in the afternoon for a doughnut. The bakery staff are always nice and friendly and know right where every single product is that they put out, and when it was made. The meat department, though I've been there once, had a very knowledgeable employee tending to it and he helped my girlfriend and I right away with packing up some meats and whatnot. Overall, I've just never felt as welcome in this store due to its outdated, cold look and feel, higher-than-average prices, and its typically unfriendly employees. This store sells rotten apples. I called the store and explained to a store representative that I did not have receipt, but I had the Basha's shopping bag and the rotten apples. He said "Too bad, you need the receipt" and basically hung up on me. I should have been allowed to return the apples but I guess Bashas is not interested in believing an honest person who has shopped at Bashas for many years. I won't be shopping at Bashas anymore. Quite a few locals drive past big box stores to enjoy the family ambiance at this Bashas, and to support a local Arizona business with deep ties to the community. Employees and supervisors in the bakery and deli are very competent. Despite what others have said, I know when I get fruit here, it will have a semblance of "taste". Customer service on all levels is exceptional and it is a pleasure to see the same employees there year after year. They do have a team spirit of cooperation that translates to how the staff treats customers. On a particularly busy day, I saw management team members drop what they were doing and step in to help the front-line staff; that action alone would get my vote!
