I've been visiting this location for over 10 years. The best thing about this location is the lack of crowds. They've recently remodeled and added more foods in a new international section. Their pizza is pretty good. I usually purchase a pizza dough and make my own. The dough can be split to make 2 pies. It rises well and has a good flavor. Parking is covered which makes a difference in the AZ heat and there are no traffic jams. Check them out sometime. They might become your favorite place to shop. read more

5 stars for Brian the Sushi Chef! I have had OKA Sushi, it was bad and for 1/2 the price you can come to Basha's and see Brian. If you go and find my review you will see, I placed Bashas Sushi ABOVE Oka which is remarkably bad for Oka. Brian's Sushi is consistent every single time! He has been there 5 months or so. Friendly and outgoing Brian is an amazing asset to the service industry!! As for as the 4 stars, pricing is ok, if you watch the AD's consistently. Like today we needed water they had the 35 pack of Basha's water for $2.99 and Powerade $.79 if you buy 10 $7.90! Small remodel can step up their game with Safeway down the street. providing the appearance matches the pricing, then people would be willing to pay a bit more. read more

I WAS a SAFEWAY customer many years Sometime ago they stopped using cashiers and forced you into self checkout I was pleased to see BASHAS's had cashiers. I became a loyal customer. The last three visits. NO CASHIERS. You must use self checkout. Today no cashier plus it would not give me the discounts advertised. I'm sure between digital coupons and anything else, I didn't do something right. BTW a cashier would have helped I have been in the SERVICE BUSINESS over 40 years. Bashas' just reminding me why I stopped going to this location on a regular basis. Today, I was at the hardware store and had to pick up one item at the grocery store. I went to Bashas' since it was right there in walking distance. I pick-up and paid for the one item I needed. I noticed I was overcharged for the item based on the price on the shelf by the item. I took the time to take a picture of the wrong price so I could bring it to the attention of your customer service dept. I stood in line with another gentleman while your customer service representative talked to her customer "friend" about upcoming football game and what she going to serve. Your customer service rep didn't even acknowledge we were waiting. I finally left, overcharged and under serviced! Safeway all the way! read more

Bakery is great, cashiers are professional, but the deli is painfully slow every time I visit . Order takes 20 mins every time when being helped, customers always frustrated and I've seen multiple walk outs on multiple occasions. Today was no different except the worker was sick and coughing all over my deli meat. read more

A great grocery store - large enough to have good selection, small enough to be personal and to have employees that care. The available foods are obviously curated with some care - if you're a foodie, this is the best choice in Fountain Hills. For those who care about COVID-19, this is a store where both the staff and patrons mask up without complaint or avoidance -- I felt much safer in this store than in others in the area. Perhaps it's because it's a little more upscale - slightly pricier, and certainly a better selection of high quality food. Not sure I'd buy staples here if I were price conscious, but right now, the higher adherence to COVID-19 precautions makes me indifferent to the slightly higher prices (and I'm sure they aren't more expensive in all regards, just some). read more

This grocery store was very convenient- when we were staying nearby for a Long-weekend-Vacation. We went to this grocery store several times during our trip. They had really good produce, good local beer selections. And, I was really impressed with the in-store Chips and Salsa, it made a great snack to have around the Condo to graze on occasionally! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I also liked they had automated check-out options that made it really quick and easy as well. We were there in December, but I did notice on the parking lot they had a permanent-Shade structure to help provide man-made shade for cars in the parking lot. It would be progressive if they had Solar Panels on the top of that structure- but it was dark when I was there so I couldn't tell. If they don't have it, I hope there is a plan to do that soon! And, the other thing to consider is in the Fountain Hills neighborhood most businesses close down really early, this Grocery Store was one of the few businesses open 'til 10 pm, but definitely confirm hours before driving there! read more

Found a big piece of glass in my husband's lemon filled powdered donut this morning. This is our go to store for donuts..they make them from scratch. They are usually great... He swallowed some of it...I took it and the piece of glass back to the store and showed it to the Bakery Manager and I said I would take all the lemon donuts off the shelf....the store manager refunded my money. when I was leaving. . My daughters and I went thru the self check out and this older grey haired gentleman with bad tattoos on his arm and I think he had an earring In his ear wouldn't stop staring at us. He literally wouldn't stop staring....it was soooo uncomfortable and unnecessary. Did he think we were going to steal something?? I have no clue but dont treat people like their criminals. This is my local neighborhood market that I frequent a couple times of week. Went in today to get some illy coffee and some banana nut bread from the bakery and found out that the machine that makes the specialty coffee is broken. Aww...was so bummed out. I hope they fix it soon. Anyways besides the banana bread that's so yummy and the artisan sourdough bread from La Brea in California, make sure to go to the deli section and try the Crunch Chinese Chicken Salad and the Broccoli Salad. They are awesome lunch menu items for people who need a quick and easy lunch. As far as service goes, everyone is always so pleasant even during the busy times. Love this place. read more

Bashas Deli has decent food and good sandwiches but the staff has been the worst forever. Pre-covid, Post-Covid, does not matter. You can stand at the register for 15 minutes and they will act like you aren't there. When they aren't short staffed everyone behind the counter goes on with various cleaning and other tasks and completely ignores you. When they do come to the register and you ask them to make you a sandwich they look like you just ran over their dog. Every person that works there now doesn't help each other out during a rush or otherwise - they all stick to their own lane and always look completely miserable the entire time. The attitude they give is seriously that they give ZERO shi** about you and their job. I was on my lunch break and had a half gallon of milk and wanted to buy a soda and a bag of ice so I went to the deli thinking since no one was in line it would be faster. I waited for 10-15 minutes at the counter while 6 people ignored me. I guess the ONE lady of the half dozen people in the kitchen that is supposed to mind the register was taking 15 minutes to make a single sandwich. When she's done I ask for ice and she tells me to go get it at the front of the store. NO **** the ice is at the front of the store, but she can scan the code and sell it to me! Then I ask for a large soda and she tells me the machine is broken and goes on to ignore me again. I took my half gallon of milk and checked myself out rather than endure her BS attitude for another minute. read more

*This is my neighborhood store. Used to be very good. Helpful friendly staff. New management in the last 6-8 months. It has gone downhill. Many of the nice experienced cashiers have transferred out to other stores. New trainees have not been trained. Many items in produce are not marked. One of the meat staff is really VERY unhelpful, other are still great. I have had a very bad experience with one of the new managers. When I asked who is the manager, I'm told there are several, whatever that means. You are going to loose customers and staff unless you fix the "management problem"! read more

The only reason I am giving this store 2 stars is because of the bakery -the donuts and the cakes are ok. Just ok. As for the rest of the store, the selection is limited, the prices are higher, and the store seems dull,dirty and outdated. The produce is particularly awful. This is the second time now I have opened a clamshell of mixed salad greens to find it is completely rotten in the center. The prebagged apples were also rotten -only I sportted that before I got them home. The produce is terrible and in this case, inedible -and pricey!!! The bulk section looks dried out and old, I think the bins haven't been refreshed or cleaned in about 10 years. The staff as a whole seems very unhappy. The butcher, without fail, has been short,curt and unhelpful -almost sarcastic -every encounter I have had they are unpleasant, unfriendly and unhelpful. The cashier didn't speak until she had to give us the total even though I had greeted her. Just a crappy grocery store -don't do it! Don't shop here -you will regret it! Now I have to go back in (in my spare time) to get my money back for this putrid salad. WHY why why did i go here when there is a Safeway and Frys within 1-2 miles? My experience with Bashas has ALWAYS been extremely totally disappointing. From the stale baked goods right down to a $55 bottle of CBD oil that made me vomit. Did the manager give me at least a store credit NOT, was he going to put it on the shelve? I hope not, this is what happens when one gets lazy and won't drive the 2 tenths of a mile more to go to Fry's. Their prices are WAYMORE than Fry's and the convenience factor is NILL. The last couple of weeks we discovered the yummy breakfast sandwiches that they make here. They do both bacon and sausage on biscuits with egg and cheese. They are so good. Unfortunately the poor customer service has finally outweighed the yummy sandwich. The last two early mornings that I went in to pick them up there were none out. So I made the mistake of asking the unpleasant woman behind the counter if they had any. She bit my head off and said they will be out at 6. I said well it's 6:12 and she snapped back that she would get them out as soon as she could. Well then don't say they will be out at 6. Right? Every other Friday morning I go in early and I pick up a couple of breakfast sandwiches and a few groceries and then I get $100 in cash and head home. The usual gentleman working the checkout is awesome. He is friendly and fun and efficient. But today I experienced the other end of the spectrum with Martha. I brought my purchases to the front and told her I would be taking out $100 in cash. She said oh I can't do that you need to go to the service desk. After standing at the service counter for a solid 5 minutes a very nice lady came up but could not give me cash without a purchase. I explained that I had purchased several items but that Martha could not give me cash and while I was waiting for her to figure out how to get me my cash I asked why after months of getting my cash every other week why suddenly I could not do it. I was told that Martha had "decided" to be difficult today. That is the last straw for me. I will drive further to safeway and or frys. I will miss the breakfast sandwiches but this store has at least two unpleasant unhelpful people there in the morning and I am tired of being treated badly while trying to spend my money. Bye bashas. Well... Where should I begin? There is so much to tell and so little space to do it in. Bashas. I don't know why I even try any more. I must be a glutton for punishment. There never seem to be enough checkers at this store and the self check out system is horrible and slow to use. The prices are a little higher than I would like and finding someone to ask for help is a task that is way harder than it should be. I am finally calling it. I am done going back for more punishment. They are over priced, understaffed, their shelves are often poorly stocked, and they are consistently out of their main sale items. What shame! Such potential, with no follow through. Go here if you like high prices, long lines, poor service, and frustration. The only highlight of going in is seeing all these hanging green signs that say 'sensational savings... and service too'. It's hilarious to me how they have left service as an afterthought in their advertising as well as in day to day practices. It's always good for a laugh. read more

John and Brian in the fish department bend over backwards to please me with the freshest selection.
