Hello to the person in the bakery dept today 8/28, 3.55 pm. Came in to buy a Tiramisu cake I had seen the day before but apparently you were all out or as you said when I asked you about it " if you don't see it we are out of it". Wow aren't you clever not even a follow up Q of would you like something else or would you like to order it or even a per functionary is there anything I can help you with? Nothing no interest what a waste of my time and why does Safeway hire people who could care less about customers? Always so hectic in here. Long lines, and my goodness what's with the people that have carts literally over flowing and they go to self check out?! I don't think I will ever understand that. Parking is not fun Let me tell you, that woman at Starbucks is a total *****! Another lady made me a brown sugar espresso (my go to drink) And it tasted like pure milk. No coffee whatsoever. Even my husband gagged. I told the older woman that my drink was off and any way I could order something else? And she tells me, oh so rudely, "if you want another drink you'll have to pay for it because we made that right!" So I left to continue my shopping. When I came back around to the front of the store to leave she chased after me and said she was sorry her co worker admitted she messed up on the drink. YALL IT WAS NUTS HER BEHAVIOR TOWARDS ME. I had just had back surgery & had no car but accidentally placed a drive up order instead of delivery. Tina, one of the Drive Up & Go managers in the Home Shopping Dept at Safeway in Fountain Hills went so above & beyond to fix the problem and get us our groceries. The delivery driver (an older lady) also was so exceptional and delivered all the heavy things I could not carry. Tina even sent a little note with a spray of daffodils. I cant express enough how terrific these employees are and how kind and helpful. It means so much to have such a terrific store nearby. For lunch today I picked up some of their delicious chicken tenders from the deli (they were on sale today...and they really ARE Delicious!) , from the meat department I picked up a tray of Main St. Bistro Scalloped potatoes. i used to use this store for all my shopping. They had a great manager who was always in the floor and was hands on. After his transfer it's been downhill. Outside of the staff shortage and complaint of no checkers I'm now having issues with sale items not available. Today I went to do my weekly shopping and the turkey breasts never came in, there was no shredded Swiss cheese and no cream cheese. Last week was same with item like daffodils not arriving. Going downhill! Items not always in-stock as well as ridiculous prices. Today, Jeffrey was my Cashier and wasn't so friendly. I had forgotten to mention that I had a 40 pack of water below in my cart, until he said in an accusatory tone, "Oh, well what do you have down therrrreeee?". I didn't know what he was talking about until I remembered the water! I apologized to him and explained I forgot - he didn't say anything. He made me feel like a sneaky water bandit or something. Whoever was working on July 27,2025 @ 5:02pm , the lady gave me a hard time. I told her to hold on let me call to see what cake my family wanted she told Me "I don't have a second", walked away. I was already waiting 5 mins before she walk up to help me plus another worker had to look for her. Worse and Worse as the years go by. The service provided is really not service. It's trash. I had to go back to Safeway for an item for my husband. Although I hate that store I love my husband and respected his wishes. I was intentionally ignored at the Deli while waiting with a customer being helped. When it was my turn the lady walked away and went back into the kitchen. I kept saying excuse me excuse me but she kept walking. I was on the phone with my sister and told her that I guess I'm a ghost because the deli worker totally ignored me. A young male came over and asked me what happened and I told him. He apologized and asked if he could help me. While he was helping me my sister asked what happened. I told her and said the lady was totaling acting like a B. Two other deli workers, Rachel was one of them but I didn't catch the other lady's name were ease dropping on my conversation and were whispering and staring at me. One lady was telling Rachel what I told the young male. Shortly afterwards Rachel shrugged and waived her hand like oh well, who cares. I said I know I don't matter to you guys and you think it's okay to ignore African American customers. Rachel started yelling at me and telling me I don't get to call her co-worker a name. Keep in mind I'm talking on my cell to my sister and never said anything directly to anyone in the store. I told the lady I said that's how she treated me to MY SISTER by ignoring me. I never said a word to any one of the employees. One deli lady told me to leave. I asked for the manager. The Rachel lady acted like she wanted to fight me (whole time behind the counter). I told her I was gonna yelp about my experience and she said YELP ME, YELP ME, I'm Rachel. She also pointed out the manager and said she's the big boss, go tell on me. The managers were standing there and never asked me anything. They were telling Rachel to shut up but she continued yelling. Rachel ignored all management and they allowed her to yap. I then called Rachel the B word since she kept screaming and yapping at me. I told all of them they weren't going to do anything to me. I guess they thought because I was all alone I would be terrified of their aggressive behavior towards me. I told them they were all ganging up on me because their employee intentionally ignored me which is just how it goes at the fountain hills Safeway. It gets worse and worse every year. This is why I don't typically shop in Safeway. Besides the high prices, the employees are mean and wicked! read more

We have recently moved to the area and Safeway is our new store for groceries! We used to live near the Fry's located near us that was a new store- so, we hoped we would find a new place to purchase our food supplies. The store is always so clean and the staff was is pleasant & helpful! Each department displays things nicely. I love the meat department's way they display bacon! Today was by far the worst experience at this store. The flower department ladies are charging random prices for "their time" with no listed prices around. Food here is considerably higher then sprouts and any market now. Their staff don't even look at their produce to make sure its not rotten so you get home to discover your food is bad. I purchased an organic cauliflower which after removing the plastic you could see the rotten brown spots on it. For the prices and horrible service I will be driving to sprouts moving forward. read more

I've been shopping here for 20 years, and have been disappointed lately with the experiences that I've been having at this Safeway. Today, for example, the deli would not be open until 8AM. The checkstands would not be open until 7AM. The produce looked like --excuse me--crap. Onions and melons that I would be afraid to purchase. Bread shelves were all but bare, and the person stocking the shelves had boxes of bread all over the floor. This is while the store should be open for shopping. I have had multiple instances of shelves being stocked while the carts full of items were blocking the aisle, and the stocker unconcerned about allowing browsing for needed items and passage for shoppers. This used to be a reliable place to shop. If the store is not fully functional until 9AM, OPEN AT 9AM AND STOP WASTING MY TIME! read more

Not the best for quality, freshness or friendliness. I've purchase chicken on sale here and later found out it was pumped full of salt water to make it weigh more. It was so stringy and disgusting i had to throw it all away. I will post a picture and the picture is of "fresh" chicken that i just purchased and never froze. I've purchase big tubs of yogurt and brought it home to find out it was expired. Always watch your receipt too! They also need a self checkout, it would help a lot! read more

Flowers!!!! Our Wedding was last Saturday. I needed to cancel contract with my florist within 2 months for the big day! I went to Safeway and found a gem called Tamura!!! She is the awesome!!!! She helped us with gorgeous flower arrangements and even made a special order for some specific arrangements I needed. Everything within a month for our Wedding!!! She was always available and had everything ready timely!! I will recommend her to any bride or anyone who needs any type of flower arrangements within Fountain Hills. Bakery Area-----We had my husband's parents 60th Wedding Anniversary dinner last Friday. I wanted a nice cake for about 30 people. I ordered a simple white cake to match the topper I had with rhinestones since it was Diamonds Anniversary. We ordered just a week ahead of time and it was a beautiful cake! They added the rhinestones ribbon to match my topper!! The cake was vanilla with buttercream and it was sooo good!!! Everyone loved it!! I think they did an amazing job!!! read more

I wish the Safeway close to my home was like this one, this location is huge! And it's well stocked with many varieties of products, specially organic, vegan / gluten free healthy products. I have waited several days to post this review, but I still feel like I did when I left the store last week. I will not return due to an interaction with a rude and aggressive employee. I have shopped at this store several times a week for over a decade but this interaction left me feeling unsafe. I was at the self-checkout and an employee assigned to the self-checkout came up to to me and asked me if I had scanned an item, as my receipt was printing I stated that I had and handed her the receipt. she looked at the receipt while aggressively crushing it in her hand and holding her hand up in a fist just standing on the other side of my cart blocking my exit as she had since the beginning of this interaction. At no time was I rude or aggressive to this woman, so there was no reason for her to react as she did. Persons who are aggressive and threatening have a short walk to escalate things to another level. Not interested in shopping somewhere where an employee feels ok behaving in that manner. read more

Buyer Beware! I am writing this review to caution Safeway shoppers to be aware that even after you enter your Safeway club membership number or your loyalty phone number at the cashier, this does not ensure that all the discounts for the items in your purchase are accounted for. This problem has consistently happened to me where I only buy items that are discounted and some of the discounts are totally ignored by the cash register. I encourage buyers to add in their mind approximately what they have purchased to make sure they don't end up paying more than necessary. Take with you the Safeway ad that arrived in your mail because apparently the cashiers don't feel compelled to tell you their is a coupon for your item! Buyer Beware! read more

Hate to do write this review with a low score, but this Safeway location is ALWAYS out of sale items, i.e. eggs, beer and other items, specially towards the end of the day, they don't have enough people to re-stock sale items, when the have beer on special they have two on the shelf, try to get some one to help you....good luck with that. First I would like to say that this locatioon overall is decent. Nestled in the little town of Fountain Hills it's not bad considering its mainly occupied by snow-birds and old money. However, my problem lies with the meat department. No matter how many times I bring my conccern to management or the staff at the meat department, nothing changes. Here is my concern: "GLOVES" Gloves are not just to keep the workers dirty hands off the meat you are buying but to keep good sanitation at a high, especially when your store is located in old folk land. Now here is where the problem escalates: The "Butcher" gloves up (only one hand) and reaches in the meat case and handles the product you are requesting by picking it up in all its rawness and juiciness (depending on what you are getting, mainly chicken as I got) then places it in some type of packaging. Ok not so bad, right. However, instead of taking off the glove and regloving to proceed with wrapping your item up in butcher paper, they continue the job using the same soiled glove getting raw meat juice and meat shrapnel all over the outside of the butcher paper. Then to add insult to injury, the slap the price tag on and hand it to you with a smile. I wonder if they are thinking, I hope this poor b*stard gets salmonella. You're are dirty people and management you suck for not staying on top of this especially when it is brought to your attention. Oh and one other thing, after the snow-birds leave, please keep the store just as nice and fully stocked for us full time residence who contribute to your salary. read more

Cashier Barbara should learn respect. We went through the line and immediately she was angry about us being in her space when she was behind the counter. Even after my brother and I moved to the end of the line, she kept complaining how we were crowding her when she was never crowded to begin with. It is possible that she was having a bad day, but I could care less about that. At least show basic customer service skills. read more

I love the Scottsdale Safeway. They should send their training staff to Fountain Hills. Waited over ten minutes for help at the deli. Then I decided to pull out my cell phone and call the store manager. The deli staff was goofing off in the back. The home just rang and rang. No answer. Wow. Then I announced to the crowd that was waiting that I was calling Corporate Safeway and the Signature Coffee lady went to get us help ( she knows how to ring up food) she could have done it herself. I like to praise Payman, an employee of Safeway in Fountain Hills. He has been at this location for approximately 14 years. He is very friendly, professional and helpful. Customers love him. He presently works in the Meat department, but he knows the ins and outs of the entire store.He know most of the customers by name which is a good business approach, and makes people feel special, recognized, and welcome.
