I visited Basic Kneads for a 60 minute deep tissue massage with Lindsay. When I called to make my appointment, the receptionist was very professional and helpful in assigning a massage therapist to me based on my needs. It was easy to get an appointment, which was why I ended up here instead of Escape Spa (which is very nice, but not easy to get an appointment with a few days notice). Basic Kneads is definitely not a huge spa with luxurious facilities, but it was clean and welcoming, and provided a relaxing atmosphere. I was not necessarily looking for a spa-like experience, I just wanted to get a good quality deep tissue massage. I was really pleased with my experience, and found the staff to be professional and courteous, and most importantly- I got a really good massage. After a few stressful weeks and some extensive travel, I was in desperate need of a deep-tissue massage. I'm pretty new to Nashville, so I was on my own to find a massage therapist and location that wasn't exorbitantly priced but still offered great service. Thanks to Yelp, I found Basic Kneads. I liked that I was able to book online, and that there were some late evening (7:30) appointments available. The prices seem on par for the area and quite a bit lower than those at a full-service spa. The location, a cute purple and white house right off of Charlotte Pike, was super convenient and easy to find. The interior was welcoming, clean, and comfortable; it almost felt like I was walking into someone's home. (Also, I love a good pun, so Basic Kneads met all my requirements.) I've had my fair share of massages, but it's always a little intimidating walking in to meet a stranger who's about to give you a full-body rub-down (maybe that's just me). Linda immediately made me feel at ease. Like any good therapist, she asked about problem areas or places where I needed extra work, and she gave suggestions/asked questions about pressure and intensity. I usually like to zone out during a massage, but Linda was hilarious and engaging so we ended up chatting the whole time. Work plus a regular gym and climbing schedule leaves me with a lot of tension in my back and hips. I have an appointment with Gabi every month, and she always makes sure to assess what my problem areas are and focus on those with a combination of massage and cupping techniques. Small touches like aromatherapy oils, warm neck towels, and eye masks make the whole experience very soothing. I have been coming to Basic Kneads for awhile now, and I have always just seen whoever had a slot open at the time. The rooms are comfortable, and every massage I have had here has been good. Today, I Saw Julia, and she was amazing! I know who I will be asking for from now on. She was super intuitive and found issues I didn't realize were there. I have suffered from migraines almost my entire life and I have been to several other places, but Lindsay did such a wonderful job taking care of the problem areas around my neck and back. She was extremely thorough and knew exactly where to find those ailing spots. She also reassured me to breathe, which is extremely helpful when getting a deep tissue massage. Lindsay also offered me tips on what to do at home when I am feeling the onset of a migraine and how to stretch myself out.
