I had a very unusual experience with Basic Landscaping. I hired them to plant trees and shrubs on my property and signed a contract for $53K. When they were done, they charged me additional $2300 for planting extra plants, which was never discussed with me before it was allegedly done. Nevertheless, I paid additional money without saying anything. At the end Basic asked me if I wanted to sign a maintenance contract. I declined because it was very expensive considering the amount of work being proposed, required inclusion of lawn maintenance (I do that myself), and also had language regarding dumping yard waste on my property. The biggest issue I had with Basic was that they planted the wrong trees and refused to replace them. The centerpiece of my landscape design were three trees with bright yellow and red leaves. Basic planted a green leaf variety of the same tree, completely ruining my landscape design intent. When I complained about this, during the warranty period, Basic initially tried blaming me since I did not sign a maintenance contract, probably assuming I was too ignorant to figure out what happened. When that argument did not fly, they tried blaming the plant material supplier, which again had nothing to do with a $53K planting contract I had with Basic. Finaly, after many months of stalling, they said that I complained too late. I understand that sometimes mistakes happen, however I found it unusual that a contractor who made a mistake would aggressively attack me, in writing, and refuse to do anything to correct a problem. Additional to the problems described above, another Basic proposal, to address the lawn flooding issue, had a ridiculous solution - move the water from one end of the lawn to another, and the proposed price was incredibly high considering it involved two guys with shovels for a day. read more

I'd like to commend basics landscaping on keeping their word and doing a fabulous job! The foreman Henry was professional and meticulous. This is our second job with Basics Landscaping and this time they added a fence and stack stone to the front of our house. There was a miscommunication on the fence chosen, and they kept their word and came back and replaced it to make a beautiful finished product. They are a trustworthy company and do great work! We needed a lawn care company for the purpose of chemical treatment for grubs and other seasonal issues. And what a disaster that turned out to be our beautiful grass had weeds and grubs and every time we contacted them their receptionist told us to take pictures how many damn pictures do you have to take how about they get out of their offices and check the properties of their contracts. Their answers are usually your watering too much or too little and divert the blame from terrible service. Do me a BIG favor avoid this company like the plague they have nothing too offer but excuses and they try to put the blame on you We paid $1000 for this outrage and fortunately we were refunded for services we didn't receive. One final note I have to say I was very surprised by them the way they treated us I thought they were the answer to our issues. read more

DONT ever use this place. The most unprofessional experience I have ever encountered, plus terrible customer service added to the insufficient knowledge about outdoor products. I paid Farah $500 to provide computerized designs for my backyard. Obviously, I also wanted to see what they could offer as far as construction, so I asked about stones, bbq, etc for the backyard. They were quick to send a 70k proposal, and when I asked for a contractor to come so I can discuss the project, they said they only do this after you sign the proposal (what???, no thanks). After going to see them twice, and not being satisfied with their products, and being told incorrect information about outdoor stones about quality and price, I sent a courteous email that I had gone with another company. She told me this was "an unprofessional rude joke" and proceeded to go on for two paragraphs about how I was going to ruin my backyard and how her company was sooo much better and to send her pictures of my backyard so they can see the disaster after and show their customers these photos, all without knowing who I went with. After responding to her how unprofessional this was, she sent 3 more emails of incoherent babble claiming I was wrong, making the wrong decision, how I used them and wasted their time and mocking me. I was shocked at how these people talk to customers and even more shocked the owner allows their employees to talk to prospective customers like this. I was kind of on the edge about them given their negative reviews, but am sooo glad that I did not go with them, I caution others to not make the same mistake. Oh yeah, she then told me I was gullible for believing in Google and Yelp reviews, and I should be reading their customer reviews posted on their website....lol. OK! Horrendous company, look elsewhere. UPDATE - I just read the owner's comment, hillarious. So it wasn't Farah and it was some "other representative." Funny thing is the owner "Michelle C" was copied on all these emails between Farah and I, and she never stopped the "other representative" from sending those emails either, or directly apologized once to me on email. More proof these guys just lie. read more

So I contacted these people to do some paving work around my house. The guy came and quoted me around 4700 for the job. I told him money was a little tight and that I needed to postpone until after the winter. Saved up around that money to get the job done, now I called them and they come out to take a look and now its 6500 dollars. I can't comment on their work, but if it resembles anything like the way they do business, I would stay away from these people. read more

What can I say. My expectations were exceeded! Incredible job done with the pavers, trees, bushes and landscaping, and the whole experience was fairly painless. Farah and Jay were very helpful, answered all of my questions and always accessible. The crew were clean, fast, friendly and efficient. I had no problems going to either Jay or Farah, and even the crew on site, with my concerns or ideas. After working on a proposal-the price was pretty much what we had expected. I had even gone to individual vendors for certain items (bushes, paving stones, railings) and the price quoted to us by Farah actually beat or matched them. No reason to go piecemeal with the project then. I don't know how some people had an unfortunate experience with Basics. That is unfortunate, but we will and are still using them on more projects. read more

I have only done 1 project with Basics Landscaping (it was to large for me to handle) & it turned out amazing. The price was slightly higher then other places but the quality of the work & attention to detail was well worth it.
