I absolutely love this place. I know there are NYC pizza snobs who would beg to differ. Whenever I'm in Jersey City, it's one of my go to spots. They have numerous pizzas in the window, you choose then they toast them up in the oven for you in a couple of minutes. So many delicious choices. Definitely hits the spot after a night out and they are always busy with quickly moving lines. The crust is so thin and crispy on the generously sized pieces. Always a hustling city vibe but friendly. Check them out

I work in the area a lot and stop here for quick slices frequently. First off the service is great. Guys behind the counter are always great. The pizza here is always good. I can recommend the vodka slices, the pepperoni is always great, sausage slice very good, and the Sicilian was great. Place is always busy which is a good sign. There is a small seating area inside but would usually just take the slices home. Prices are very reasonable with a good location near the closed walkway. Great spot for a quick slice.

If you're staying in Newark this is the place for late night eats. After enjoying some adult beverages down the street, we stopped to grab a couple slices before heading back to the hotel. It was so good, we went back the next night too. The service is fast. You pick your slices, they heat them up, and then serve them piping hot. There's a few tables to sit at but the doors are wide open so it's chilly in the fall and winter. Don't let that stop you.

Really good pizza in the Jersey city Area. Don't know why would it only have a 3.2 on yelp. It's always fast and super good. It's a brick oven pizza place and that's why it's "burnt". People think it's bad pizza probably only had papa jones and pizza hunt and don't know real authentic Italian pizza ‍

So this may be like one of your typical pizza spots that's in the middle of a extremely busy party area. Usually those pizza spots have bland no flavor pizza and they just try to push that on people who have been drinking and don't care about the taste. Well I was drink and I did care about the taste and great pizza is what I got. The place is small but the flavor is big . Didn't talk to the staff much but got two slices. 1 pepperoni and other buffalo chicken. They were both super good and had that crispy crust like I like . I'd definitely end my night here again. Great pizza

Solid slice of pizza for 5 bucks. Missed New York style pizza, and this did not disappoint. Was quick and easy

Two slices! A free fountain drink comes with! Good special

Being a JC native, I remember the days of the pizza parlor that was super small, had counters instead of tables and some of the best pizza ever!! I actual childhood memory was taking the train to Grove Street and getting pizza in the EXACT spot that Basiles is now in!!! How crazy!! Basiles pizza is pretty good, very thin crust! I would have liked more cheese and sauce but I understand it's because the crust is very thin. I just had two regular slices so next time I want to try something else and I will update my review. The space is cute right on the corner of Grove and Manila. Workers were very chipper and singing along! Drink machine in the back and a restroom if u need to go! The speciality pies looked great. Prices are a bit higher than a couple of my favs for a slice but inflation so I get it. Def will return.

    The pizza crust is amazing

My favorite pizza place in Jersey City. Huge slices with perfect crust. It's crunchy yet soft and chewy. The dough holds up for how large it is. Decent selection of flavors and have hot honey bbq and buffalo to top your slice off if you want. Yum yum another slice in my tum tum.

Nothing wrong with this place for a cheese slice. Totally classic thin slice that was very crispy. Wasn't too oily, felt pretty light. Tomato sauce has a nice sweet taste to it. $3.50 a cheese slice. Felt like a classic nyc place, no frills and door left open, metal tables. Fresh hot pizza even at 9pm on a Tuesday

Never have I ever had a better slice of Za in my entire life. Basiles deserves every good thing in this world. Dave Portnoy was right.

They give you a bag in the rain unless you buy 4 slices to go. Wouldn't even let me pay for a box.

The menu is pizzeria standard: slices, pies, hot and cold subs. Not wanting to wait for a fresh pie, I snagged a slice of plain Chewy crust, slightly sweet cause, easy on the grease and priced right at $2.50

If you knew me, I always considered pizza as a separate food group aka the sixth main food group! Established in 1982, this small family-owned cash-only restaurant has been a beloved neighborhood staple known for its authentic Italian pizza along with other Italian dishes and a cozy and family-friendly atmosphere. With a glut of pizza joints, how would this pizzeria from Larry and Joe compare to others I've tried in the neighborhood!? PURCHASE [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 3.5 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($5.00): A large container filled with oddly similarly-sized rings, these were hot, medium-browned, semi-crunchy, and didn't have a tendency to crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (not sweet Maui) stayed intact. They were slightly oily, no dipping sauce given, and surprisingly good. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=Fo3zPbAgICQdKvznZJsvGA Mozzarella Sticks 6pc ($7.00): Simple finger-sized medium-browned cheese sticks with homemade marinara dipping sauce, we enjoyed them but nothing special to report. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=XdrF2nAAywvu13PpkK4mIQ Eggplant Parmigiana Sandwich ($10.00): If you knew me, this was my go-to Italian sandwich, and it didn't disappoint. Filled with plenty of thin but meaty slices of breaded eggplant, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese crammed between a lightly-toasted bun, this was a hearty meal that stuck to your ribs - oof! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=8R68F6zBwAxy4vcpvi8wzw Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich ($10.00): My friend opted for this lightly-toasted bun stuffed with many thin but meaty slices of breaded chicken, marinara sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese, it was good but not better than the eggplant! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=p7slICln5ZVWgsqatlY8WQ 18" 8pc Broccoli Pizza + Mushrooms ($19.00 + $3.00): Still in the throes of no-meat during Lent, we chose this interesting option with an additional topping for more flavor. This was a massive pizza with a ton of fresh toppings, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce with an incredibly crispy yet soft crust. This was simply an impressive pie, indeed! https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=-5ich-E3lcSWgrzXYPVisA SERVICE I called ahead and placed my order with a friendly gentleman whose name I couldn't recall. I was told it would be ready within 45 minutes which was fine. I arrived a bit early to a very busy pizzeria, to which I waited an extra 15 minutes before my order was done and packed up. No worries, as I watched TV and simply observed the "mayhem" in this place. I wasn't in a hurry, so all was good - grazie! PARKING (Street; N/A this instance) This was an easy flat 20-minute walk from my friend's place. Otherwise, there appeared to be plenty of spots (no known private lot) along the main drag of Newark Ave. and all surrounding roads - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A simple interior layout https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=YA57QUy6J9z38Y_Kkkay_A with a tidy dining area of booths and a couple of small tables, a bar table along one wall, and the order counter that looked into the kitchen at the back. Several framed pictures of family members adorned a brick wall while the menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=72&select=4AsL8gHDPNd5MobPtL3MyA was posted on another wall. Plenty of natural lighting came through the front window and door while soul-sucking fluorescent electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There was one TV (volume on) while there wasn't any background music. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=48&select=4WAmbzYptvChB1edodHcSQ ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Larry & Joe's Pizzeria was an incredible example of a close-knit family eatery that was lovingly supported by the neighborhood and vice versa, which gave me the warm-and-fuzzies. From tasty food, large portions, reasonable prices, good menu selection, and wonderful service, this place hit all of the feels. And, I always loved supporting small businesses whenever possible. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $54.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). Sadly, they were CASH ONLY (my only knock), so no AMEX! 4.0 STARS
