The chicken wings were excellent, actually, crispy, flavorful, easily the best part of the meal. But the issues started after we ordered the sausage, peppers, and onion pizza. The waitress brought the wrong pizza. When we politely mentioned it, instead of a simple apology, the waitress came back with an attitude, insisting she had repeated the order back to us, which never happened. Instead of focusing on fixing the mistake, she repeatedly argued with us. When they agreed to remake the pizza, she asked what kind of peppers we wanted. I explained that traditionally sausage, pepper, and onion pizza comes with green peppers, but she argued that they have many different kinds of peppers. Rather than working with us, the interaction felt more like an argument. Mistakes happen, but good service is about how you handle them. Stopped in on a Wednesday evening - service was very nice and many tables were taken. We sat right next to the pizza oven area, was kind of fun to watch. The inside is a bit small but they do have several tables outside which is great especially if you have a pup! Pizza was excellent, ordered a white pie (add tomato slices +$4) - pie came out hot and fresh from the brick oven. Crust was crispy and chewy. It was very good! We also tired Arugula salad (with dried cranberries, goat cheese & pear slices) it was refreshing and good to share! We ordered penne vodka but sadly this was a total fail. Excellent pies! 10/10! This place never disappoints! I bring fellow crew members here all of the time and they all agree it's one of the best pizzas they've ever had. Sean was the contractor for the original Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge... Mr. Grimaldi made him a parter and Sean's been at this location for 35 years. The pandemic hit him hard, but Sean took care of his staff and never let them go. Local businesses have not come back... he used to deliver pies to many businesses in the area.. many buildings are still empty as people are working at home. My husband and I visited Grimaldi's on a Friday night. We were nervous about the impending wait, but were surprised to find that our wait time was minimal. To be fair it was 6pm not too early not too late - about an hour into our meal we saw the place really start to fill up. We sat in the back close to where the pizza makers were doing their thang. We honestly enjoyed watching them working and guessing which pizza would soon be ours. LOL So you know we ordered a pizza by now, but what did we start with? To start we ordered the Mozzarella cakes with Marinara Sauce & then split a half pepperoni half bacon pie. Everything was DELICIOUS. The wait staff was extremely kind, but a little slow on followups. This is my second time coming here, first time was over 5 years ago. Came here on a Sunday late afternoon with friends. We were seated promptly after entering. The pizza itself has not changed, solid, filling and delicious. Ended up getting a large half pepperoni margarita pie and salad. The pizza taste similar to Brooklyn Pizzeria, which I believe are related in some way. The place has a warm vibe to it and the service was great. Today was no exception. Service was fast and great. Ordered two large pies for plenty of leftovers (it's over an hour drive for us so might as well. Totally worth the drive). Bathrooms are downstairs (please note for mobility issues). Very casual inside with a full bar. Sausage, pepperoni and onions on a margherita well done. Also had a plain margherita. Ordered penne vodka and garlic bread to go. Plenty of street parking but during busy times may take a while. They do accept credit cards with a 3.5% fee. Could this be the best Neapolitan pizza anywhere in the US? If not, we haven't found it, and we've been looking for some time now! We ordered the classic personal-size Margherita Pizza, with a Caesar salad to share while waiting for the pizza to bake in their coal-fired oven. The salad was stunningly good! Made with romaine lettuce tossed in just the perfect amount of garlic, oil, and anchovy, crowned with shards of freshly shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. Unfortunately there's no picture because we couldn't resist diving right in. After what seemed like an interminable six-minute wait, an incredibly beautiful (and blazing hot) creation appeared at our table. So hot in fact that I had to start with the puffy, crispy outside/chewy inside crust! At that point I knew this was a very special pizza, since the crust alone was so delicate and delicious. Neither of us will ever forget our first bites of that flavorful cheese and garden-fresh marinara perched atop that wonderful crust; it was absolute perfection! The interplay of textures and flavors was sublime yet unbelievably delicious, and arguably addictive. It's definitely the best we've ever had and that includes pies we've sampled on countless trips to Italy and Switzerland--albeit not to Napoli, so that's our next stop! read more

Awesome undercarriage on the pizza, not much flop, definitely crispy. The pepperoni were small pieces and there was just the right amount of them. This pizza was delicious and an absolute contender for best pizza in the area, no questions asked. These guys know what they are doing. Service: I happened to be here on a Saturday evening but it was heavily raining so the place was relatively empty. The waiter was very attentive and gave good suggestions. No issues at all honestly. The food came out very fast and it was all perfect. Atmosphere: This is not your mom and pops local pizzeria, this is a nice restaurant. I would not hesitate to have a nice date night here, although it seems they were cool with being casually dressed which worked out. There is a bar on the ground floor with some small tables, and additional seating upstairs for larger groups. Everything was clean and orderly. Overall I was super impressed with the pizza, I cannot comment on the other food. The Grimaldi's IPA I had wasn't amazing but that's totally fine, points for even having a house beer. Based off of the reviews and pictures, everything looked good. We ordered the buffalo wings and a Cesar salad for apps and a medium margherita pizza. Initially when we arrived there was no one outside to seat us so we went inside to make sure that it was okay to seat ourselves anywhere. When we were given the okay, our waitress grew visibly annoyed, went back inside, and put the menu away. Someone else ended up coming out and giving us the menus instead. My sister wanted garlic knots but they didn't serve any, which was surprising to me. She also wanted to order wings but was disappointed when she realized they only served buffalo wings. She still ordered and asked for ranch dressing in place of the blue cheese and they didn't have that either. Hurts to give two stars, because everything we ordered tasted SO good. Unfortunately the major downfall was the prices and portion size. The chicken parm was absolutely delicious, but for $17 it was such a meager portion size. I've ordered chicken parm from pretty much every and anywhere in JC, Hoboken and beyond. This dish was about half the size of what I've received anywhere else for the same price. The pizza was also soo tasty, but $19 for a personal sized pie is just so high. That should be the price of a regular pie... We ordered the Grimaldi's Favorite which was topped with eggplant, ricotta and pepperoni. There were only a few tiny pepperoni cups on the entire pizza which was a bummer. Luckily wine and beer are cheap, but it's not enough to bring me back to Grimaldis. When we arrived, there were patrons enjoying their meal inside. Overpriced and over rated. The calzone was flavorless and mushy. You could really smell the egg in the ricotta. The sauce that accompanied the calzone had no seasoning whatsoever. This has been one of the better pizza places I've tried in Hoboken so far- staff is very nice, pizza is solid. Appetizers are nothing special though.
