The food is always delicious. The service is awesome and so are the employees. There hamburgers are better than Krolls.

Clean bar, nice seating area. Booths are nice and big. Yelp map was wrong, but we found it and tried to adjust the map in yelp to correct. Ladies working bar during the day are hilarious. One is grumpy, the other is friendly...made for a good visit. Wasn't sure the family should come in- but they were welcoming and said the grill was open. They were just nice ladies. Dad had special of day: tenderloin sandwich. Fabulous! Had a regular cheeseburger- perfect flavors. Should have gotten the double. The butter was a nice added flavor. The sauces offered with the boneless wings are spicy and flavorful. Spicy honey garlic was my daughters fav. Chicken strips were hot( temp)... tasty but just normal strips. ( don't know what my daughter was looking for) We were the only people in the bar at first... after lunch time... but others came in... even families. Don't be fooled by the map on Yelp, if you follow that you will never get to try the best burgers around. Hopefully they get that fixed (I've tried). This little bar surrounded by a few tables is highly recommended if you like butter burgers. They also have 4 or 5 soups available each day (which I also highly recommend). There is many other things on the menu, including specials and fish. Pickled Eggs too! The soups are always good and are served with a simple piece of toasted garlic butter bread (which is actually just a half of a hamburger bun). I know it kind of sounds plain, but their buns are great and it tastes very good! Burgers are top notch and much cheaper than Kroll's in Green Bay. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but I have heard that the owners of Kroll's and Basil's are related or friends or something. Either way, burgers are very similar. I would chose Basil's for two reasons however... Cost and atmosphere. I think it's fun to drive into the country and eat at these local places. read more

Went last week after hiking the Maribel Caves. We had an older server who was very prompt and incredibly nice. Food was lower in flavor than anticipated and they do not check on tables at all. Fine. We're at a tavern. I get it. It was decent enough, mainly due to speed and price, to return tonight after hiking. We entered and went over to the quarter machines as we had excited kids in tow. At this point half of the power went out. Sat down, power is out and the place is filling with smoke. A young server cleared tables amongst us as if nothing was amiss. Waited. Waited some more. The place continued to fill with smoke as the server passed by our booth many times without as much as a hello. At this point a table got up to leave and another had to get up to pay as she wasn't about to help anyone despite roaming about here and there. We saw two bartenders and were seated beside the bar. No acknowledgement. Kids were restless and the power had been restored for ten minutes and the server had passed by multiple times again without a word. At this time we were the only table and no one was going to acknowledge us. Got up and left. Not a peep from any staff. Not sure how they missed us. Pretty sure they did not at all. After a lifetime in the hospitality industry and full well knowing staffing concerns post Covid (even taking that into consideration) I won't return. The food is so so at best but we thought we'd stop again due to simply wanting to eat something, ANYTHING. No dice. We found another tavern to spend our money at. read more

After reading all the great reviews on Yelp I had great expectations for my first dinner here and I was not disappointed. There was one bad review I saw where someone was unhappy with the service, we found the service to be great. Got there around 6 on a Friday, ordered dinner and drinks at the bar and were seated immediately. We all had the perch fry, just under $ 11 and it was a large serving of fish that also came with choice of potato, coleslaw, and rye bread with butter. The fish is lightly breaded, perfect amount of breading, crispy out side, hit and flaky inside, not greasy at all. My only negative is the tartar sauce was a little runny and had a very strong vinegar taste to it but everything else was great. I wish it was closer to where I live because I think this would be my regular spot for Friday night perch. If you haven't been here you have to go, you won't be disappointed. read more

I just got done breaking up with Krolls West (in Green Bay) and the reason is this place. I have a new love affair and it is Basil's II. They make the best burgers around and at such a decent price. I drive from Green Bay all the time to get their burgers and sides. Do not forget to get a cold root beer from the bar while you wait for your burger. The burgers come on a hard roll with a tab of butter in them. They are heavenly and ordering a side of potato wedges is never a bad idea either. Definitely a place to check out if you are in the middle of nowhere! The staff was really friendly, the food was mediocre. They do definitely serve strong drinks though. Easily one of the top burgers in Wisconsin! I got a list of the best "butter burgers" in Wisconsin and I was shocked, shocked I tell you that this place didn't make the list. I have tried nine of the ten places on the list and at least a couple of them could be taken off the list and add Basil's. Never had service that wasn't excellent. Never had a server that wasn't friendly and the burgers are consistently DELICIOUS. I am from Appleton so it is quite a drive but you can make it a road trip and hit the local meat market not too far away in Stangleville. Great place for food. It's outside of Denmark with a in the country feel. They have tables and booths. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and it was awesome. My husband had the chicken fajita wrap without the cheese or sour cream. Has a mild kick from the salsa. Very good as well. I also had a cup of their chicken noodle soup.
