Stopped in with the family for a quick bite to eat and we were sure happy we did. The people working were friendly and super down to earth. It's a great hometown feeling bar and the type of place that makes you happy when you notice that all the plates don't match. The chicken tortilla soup was better than some I've had in bigger larger "fancy" restaurants and my daughter liked the chicken and Mac n cheese. I sampled some of the wings with their different homemade sauces. Wednesday was 0.85/wing and you can get them in groups of 5+. The honey mustard and spicy teriyaki were my two favorites. Went with a friend to grab food around 10pm. There was only one other person there at that time and the bartender was friendly but seemed really tired. The food was really good I had the hot honey wings and they were delicious. My friend had French onion soup, fried mushrooms and clams. She said the clams were just ok but the other food was delicious. The food came out within 15 minutes of being there. We also had beer on tap and it was fresh and crisp. Ate lunch at the Basin Street Hotel today & had one of the best crab cake sandwiches I've ever had anywhere ! It was not only delicious but also enormous. One of the better restaurants in Kutztown, PA...and as they say "Best Wings in Town"...which is why I love this place. It's a quaint little bar/restaurant run by some old school Kutztown University Alumni. The wings come in Mild, Hot, Extra Hot, Honey Mustard and BBQ. I'm partial to the Hot, which have just the right amount of buttery flavor and heat. If you're a wing-lover like me, come by during one of their special wing nights and you'll be in heaven - for just a few bucks. Their french onion soup is quite good as well, FYI. Literally the best place to eat in Kutztown! Forget Mama's, Betty's etc (although all are not bad places), the BSH is a LOT better. Don't let the old-timey saloon vibe throw you off. The drinks are cheap and the food fairly priced/delicious. If you ever go for lunch, see if they have the Drunken Chicken sandwich on their specials board. The food is good and the drinks are fine but when it came to me and my friends splitting the check our waiter couldn't seem to do it and insisted that we pay one check. At first he told us there was a one check policy when there was a party of over five people... we pointed out that there was only a party of four people and he insisted that he misspoke and he meant to say four people. He did this because he clearly wasn't keeping tabs of who was ordering what(because they are disorganized) and then when he came back with one tab he gave himself a 18% tip. The French Onion Soup was a good-sized portion but was a little on the salty side. Somehow our waitress forgot to place our order of Chicken Fingers despite the fact that we were literally 1 of 3 tables in the entire place. Happy Hour (8-10) is a great deal but you have to pull up the menu online. They do not have it. Service is nice but very slow. Took a while to get our food (3 wings, 1 wrap and a basket of fries). For 4$ the 'large' fry basket is not as large as it should be. Beer selection is OK. Went during happy hour got the food listed above and a beer for 10 bucks. Not horrible priced. The wings are pretty good, the sauce is put on after and they are crispy. I liked the chicken wrap a lot, just a chicken tender wrapped inside a tortilla with lettuce and tomato. The fries are not greasy at all. Overall good experience, if service was just a little quicker I would have given it 4 stars. read more

I went for wings one night for 50 cents and had a fine experience. But the last time I went, the day after Kutzpatties, the experience was absolutely awful. The restaurant was empty aside from a few frat guys sitting at the bar, and my table of friends. We sat there and waited almost 40 minutes just for the one employee that we saw in the place arrive to take our order. It probably took around another 40-50 minutes for the food to arrive. The burger I ordered was supposed to be medium rare, and it was BURNT. It was a literal hockey puck and was charred. The service was absolutely terrible, and the food is pretty bad. Took me 10 minutes to find a bartender. The bar was completely empty. I had to go to the kitchen doors and poke my head in and ask if they had anyone working. He apologized and told me he would find the bartender. In all honesty service sucked. However it was obvious the girl working the bar had no clue what she was doing. How could you not know what an IPA is and you work at a bar??? It took her atleast 15 minutes to get me a beer and no one was there but me and my girlfriend. The food however was really really good for bar food and priced well. Avoid this place at all costs, at least as long as the a**hole bartender is working there. Here's what happened: The guy comes over to the table to take my order. I ask if they have Scotch. He says, "Of course we do. It's a bar." Fail. You're supposed to tell me what kinds of Scotch you have, not be a condescending jerk. So he says, smugly, "We have all that stuff." Yeah, right. Turns out they only have Dewar's and Johnny Walker. That's why I asked in the first place. But I'm not trying to pick a fight; I'm just trying to order a drink. But fine. I order Johnny Walker, straight. He pours about an ounce and a half into a glass--a normal portion--and brings it over. Doesn't take long for me to order another one, because there is not much in the glass. Definitely not a double shot. Then, when I get the bill, he charges me $16.50 for my two "drinks." I ask about it and he says, "Two double shots at $8.25 a pop is $16.50." But they weren't proper double shots. If the first one was poured properly, I wouldn't have needed a second. Really? This is how you do business? Why are you trying to gouge your customers? Besides that, the demeanor of this guy was terrible. I said "thank you" to him several times AND HE DID NOT RESPOND. He didn't even grunt. It was terrible. He is obviously unhappy and should be fired. I will never go back to that place to be treated like that. So, good luck with your "business," Basin Street. You would think that you would be in the business of encouraging repeat customers, but you don't seem to be interested in that at all. You seem more interested in gouging me for a few extra bucks. So glad I am graduating so I don't have to come back here! Let me start off by saying our whole table was continuously swarmed by nats during our whole meal! So much so that they were almost flying into our food and it left our whole party feeling like they were still crawling on us after we left the restaurant. Not to mention the service was almost non-existent. We were never offered menus, and at one point our server disappeared and we never saw him again. I have never written a review on a restaurant before, or anything else for that matter; it's a shame my first one was roused by a terrible meal. One would think it to be almost impossible to cook an awful pasta dish-a cold one at that- but the vegetable pasta salad I ordered at Basin Street was just that... awful! The pasta was extremely over cooked and tasted almost like it had been pre-cooked and then run under water before being served. As a featured dish on the Vegetarian Menu, it lacked a variety of vegetables; before I asked for balsamic dressing it had no flavor at all.
