I recommend experiencing this place. Never in my life have I done a cold plunge before. I actually surprised myself. Definitely wouldn't have wanted to be on the titanic that's for sure! I LOVED IT HERE. The locker room, the tub area, the showers were amazing! There is a complimentary hydration station with different aromatic teas and water. And there is also a Sauna. Enough space in the benches to lay down and stretch while other people are in there. There are levels in the sauna as well the higher up you are the hotter it is! I love it all. I went back and fourth from the shower to the tub to the sauna about 5-6 times. At my own pace. There are 4 tubs, Each tub has a different temperature I got 1-4 is "cold, Really cold, Freezing, and FROZEN TUNDRA" is how I'd explain the temperatures I got in the Really cold one. After I was done I felt so energized I don't think my body has ever been that cold like down to my bone marrow lol read more

For all those who are a fan of a DIY spa day kind of vibe, BASK Detroit is the place to be! If you've been to The Schvitz, I have heard many people both while inside the walls of BASK and outside of it asking for me to compare and contrast the two, so I will do so in my review here: - They both offer saunas, but BASK only has one sauna, which is a dry sauna (where workers will come in to pour more water over the rocks, whereas The Schvitz has a separate dry sauna and wet sauna. - BASK has four individually sized cold-plunge tubs and are at 35, 45, 50, and 55 degrees. The Schvitz has one giant pool-sized cold plunge that tends to range from 50-60 degrees depending on the time of day and year. - BASK has an incredibly small footprint - it's the lobby, lockers (men's and women's), then an entire communal space of showers, sauna, and plunge tubs. The Schvitz has a much larger space, complete with two levels, tons of pockets for seating areas and community gathering, a kitchen that can and does serve food, etc. They both contain outdoor patios. BASK has a strict no food and no phone policy. - BASK is very new and modern, with floor to ceiling windows, state-of-the-line showers, amenties, etc., whereas The Schvitz is very "grungy" feeling, given the historical nature of the building and its general wear and tear over the years contributing to that as well. In many ways, BASK and The Schvitz are complete opposites - night and day - but in many ways, they share a lot of similarities too. If you're looking for pure wellness, a more easy/straightforward in and out feel, BASK is probably the way to go. If you're looking to hang out with your friends and go at a more leisure pace, The Schvitz is where I would recommend! But at the end of the day, why not go to both?? Like me! Price point-wise, BASK can start off a little more expensive at $60 per 2 hour session vs. $40 per 4 hour session at The Schvitz, but the price point at BASK can end up becoming cheaper if you go frequently enough as they offer membership options that The Schvitz simply just never has. I don't personally live close enough to BASK to make a membership worth my while, but is definitely something to consider if you do live closer! All in all, I highly recommend you give BASK a try if you're looking to cure some sore muscles, aches and pains, looking to sleep better, etc. There are so many benefits that come with intentional contrast therapy and BASK makes it incredibly accessible to the masses and a very straightforward way to trying it out! read more

Unique experience! The staff were kind and the facility was well maintained. The atmosphere is super soothing and the locker rooms are amazing. There's tons of lotions and self care items for people to use before/after their bask experience. I personally loved the bathing suit dryer! My only frustration was that I booked my initial date about a week in advance and then about 3 days before the date, they cancelled due to an event they were holding. That felt unprofessional and I was personally irritated because I had to move a lot of things in my schedule around for that date. I'm aware that part has nothing to do with them, but my appointment shouldn't have been cancelled so short notice for an event. Overall it's super cool. Phones aren't allowed in the basking area. There are papers that provide guidance on how to properly use the ice bath and the sauna. I took their advice and was great. There's lots of staff maintaining the area. I would recommend bringing sandals to walk around the basking area! read more

From the moment you walk in to BASK until you leave, you really feel like you are taken care of. Every detail was thoroughly thought through and comforting. The staff is friendly and inviting. When I arrived the nice young lady behind the desk checked me in and walked me to the locker room and let me know where to meet after changing. They give you a wristband that controls your locker, so you can leave everything but your water safely behind. They explained the cold plunge, which kind of terrified me. She put me at ease and showed me it starts at 55, then 50, 45, then 35 degrees. I did manage to make it all the way down. I thoroughly enjoyed the 190 degree sauna while chatting with a few ladies that traveled from out of town to have an experience. The whole 2 hour block was so much fun and I feel relaxed and rejuvenated at the same time. I would highly recommend checking out BASK alone or with friends. I found the cold plunge pools painful, even the 55 degree one, but I am writing this review for someone who enjoys them. It was just too much for me. Located in a parking garage facility on one of the rehabbed blocks in Brush Park. Inside is a clean, bright, well maintained facility. Staff was great. You check in, and the men's and women's locker rooms are behind drapes. Inside are really nice locker rooms, the men's has beard balm and other beauty items, really nice hair dryers, swimsuit dryers, high tech toilets, push button showers, the lockers are keyed to the guests wristbands. Everything is clean and nice and bright. Out another door and privacy drape, and there are a bank of pushbutton showers to use after the sauna and before the plunge pools, a tea and water/ice dispenser (you need it in the sauna). The sauna is multi level, and really hot and steamy. Clocks are everywhere, I believe to remind people to limit their time in sauna and in the plunge pools. The cold pools are stylized to be individual and like very fancy bathtubs. They range from 35 to 55 degrees F. They are a little tall, but I am not sure how steps could be added. Outside is a nice patio area, and an outside sauna hut that is wood fired. Everything is cleaned, a lot, and nice and bright. Just a great experience. read more

Great experience. Very relaxing. The sauna is hot and refreshing. It is spacious and did not feel too crowded. They have four cold plunge tubs that have four different temperatures but even the warmest is very cold at 55° but you can get used to it. The staff is very helpful, especially to a first timer. It's not a very big space but no one is uncomfortable and you can meet some nice people who will encourage you to take the plunge. They provide ice, water, and various teas. They had Rishi Tea when I went. And they have the "good" ice. The locker rooms have just about everything you probably forgot to bring. They have showers, Japanese toilets, and they provide you with a locker key bracelet that is water proof and doesn't bother you in the sauna. BASK is a beautiful wellness club featuring contrast therapy with cold plunge pools and saunas. You're welcomed by one of their kind staff members upon arrival. After checking in and getting your wrist band, you enter the locker room with nice amenities and your own personal locker. I wore a bathing suit there and brought a gym bag with a change of clothes and my toiletries. After you're settled in, you enter the spa area. No cameras are allowed inside. You'll see a range of cold plunge baths with temperatures ranging from 37°F to 50°F and a large Finnish dry sauna. I went in and out, trying to build my tolerance to both the hot and cold temperatures. There are showers in the spa and locker room to clean and refresh as needed. A water machine is in the common area where you can stay hydrated with cold water or hot tea. It was such a relaxing afternoon! I felt amazing after my 2 hour session and my skin is buttery soft! BASK has different memberships, single sessions, and community-building events like DJ nights and fitness workshops. It's designed to promote health, longevity, and community connection. Upon entry/check-in you are greeted by pleasant staff. They give you a great introduction and information to make your session smooth. The locker room has lots of amenities to use add needed. The sauna is very spacious and provides comfortable seating with low lighting. Inside the cold plunge room there are 4 tubs ranging from 35-55 degrees. I enjoyed all 4 tubs but the 35 degree tub is the most rejuvenating in my opinion. I believe I did about 6 cycles before my session ended. I felt so relaxed I will certainly be back!! read more

Great location conveniently located in Midtown with tons of free and paid parking near by. The location is beautiful and well designed, with a very modern and sleek feel throughout. The locker room was well maintained and organized and access to your locker was controlled by a wristband provided to you (which was pretty cool). The cold plunge and shower area was pretty large with 3 tubs/plunges (different temperatures) and 3 showers and plenty of extra seating/lounging area as well. The sauna area was large as well with a multi level design. Both the cold plunge(s) and sauna were amazing! Cleanliness is most important at a place like this and they passed with flying colors! I came here last week with Yelp Elite Squad! I have so many thoughts! I loved this place! It's exactly what is advertised. Cold plunge & sauna - boom! that's it. I actually called them earlier in the week and spoke to Olivia who was able to rebook me after a family emergency. She was very kind. When I got there, Juan was there to help me & he was also very helpful explaining the way the place worked. The pools/baths are very cold! Duh.... The sauna was very big and very hot... again duh.! The thing I want to spend time talking about was the bathroom. They had so many free amenities. They had a bidet in the bathroom lol. My only note would be: add hooks to the bathroom stalls for bags & add feminine products to the female bathroom! Big on that one. I received a complimentary sauna/cold plunge one week and was back the next week on my own! I generally don't like saunas or being too warm, but with the addition of the cold plunge, this was so relaxing. Everything is very clean, staff is incredibly nice, and the locker rooms have so many amenities. Perfect for some self-care to feel refreshed. I also liked the routine and structure provided; while there was some wiggle room, I knew exactly what to do. I like the format...timers on the wall, suggested times and order, etc. I stayed for about two hours each time. I have been to (and loved) a similar place nearby, and I will say, the two spots are vastly different. Try them both! This place feels more wellness-focused, similar to a spa, and a bit less casual. Like, you'd come here after the gym (I never go to the gym and still felt comfortable, though). The individual tubs instead of one big one really enhance the experience. Both staff and clients were inviting and friendly. I did talk to quite a few people and there were groups of friends chatting, but it is also a nice spot where you can have time in the quiet alone. Bask was an amazing experience!!!!!!! I have recommended this spa to everyone. It will take some getting used to. Initially I was completely closed off to the idea of getting in the water and decided to just stay in the sauna. But I am so glad I did not. There are 4 tubs, you can alternate between them all or find a sweet spot in one and continue to use it. The health benefits are insane. I saw a dramatic change in my swelling as well as body aches and pains. The staff was very helpful. The facility was clean and the locker rooms have showers. My first experience doing a cold plunge and it was exciting! They had everything from sunscreen to razors to toothbrushes and I really enjoyed the clothes wringer! I like the concept- I did a cold plunge for the first time. I'm not gonna lie I'm not very fond of it but that's not this wellness spa's issue. They had 3 tubs for the cold plunge with three different temperatures. Even the least coldest was something unbearable for me- I didn't even bother going in the other two tubs. I'm also seeing online that some studies say Cold plunges are not good for women's health. But I loved the sauna. It was nice and toasty. The best part was actually going into the sauna after the cold. I also liked the tea station, I tried the chommomile tea and one for respiratory health, which was very soothing. It was next to a water and ice machine and they had paper cups of different sizes that you can bring into the sauna. The locker room had a lot of toiletries and feminine products and a Dyson hair dryer. What sucked was I wasn't allowed my phone to take pictures of the actual experience. Facility looked brand new and was greeted by one of the owners when I checked in. Given a brief intro of what to expect after check in. Given a bracelet used to access locker. Locker room had a lot of amenities but was on the small side. I was given one of the top lockers and being 5'0" I did have to climb to reach the locker to unlock with the bracelet. Wasn't able to reach the hooks to hang anything up. Was a little cautious when climbing back down to the floor since the floor in the locker room is wet; so would just be careful if you do need to access one of the top lockers and are on the shorter side like myself. There are a few cold plunges. I started with the 55 degree one and it wasn't bad at all. So the next few times I just jumped right into the 35 degree plunge. Was able to stay in around 3 minutes and body felt good. The sauna is large and able to fit quite a few people. Liked that there were spots to sit in the open area. There's a water/ice dispenser and tea as well. If I lived closer I would most definitely come back! But great experience! read more
