It was the first time having a passenger in my car in over a year. She sat in the back because I had a pizza stone in the front. Yep. Between a rock and a hard place... lol It's located in a large plaza with Fresh Co. anchoring it. I parked relatively close to Marble Slab Creamery and we headed over. A woman ahead of us walked in. I opened the door and counted how many people were inside. Said woman was nine. The maximum number of customers in the store was eight. She was told by staff to kindly wait outside. She did for a brief moment and eventually left. The majority of folks in the store were kids indecisively figuring out what mixins they wanted. They were us! When two of them came out with their treats, we barged in. We looked at all ice cream flavours, salivating behind our masks. This place has a decent variety of vegan ice cream options. We both went vegan. We both got cups because we are klutzy! I learned that cups are sold by weight, so you can order as many scoops and mixins as you like that can fit in a cup. I got vegan strawberry banana and coconut milk ice creams in a medium cup. My friend got a small vegan strawberry banana cup. We have pretty similar tastes in everything, which is great. The woman behind the counter heard my order and said the following to me: "You do know that they are vegan." "Yes, it's exactly what I want," I said, staring right into her eyes, wondering where she was going with her odd statement. "You will love them. They are the best." My friend said to me quietly, "We can read." Perhaps this staff member had vegan radar going on and we failed it miserably. We can indulge in vegan goodies without someone telling us that we are. It was odd. Maybe rephrasing it to,"They are vegan. Are you good with them?" might have been less harsh. My friend was getting mixins. She had heard the kid next to her get rainbow marshmallows and got them. I had just indicated that I wanted white chocolate chips. I heard her mention rainbow marshmallows that I went with it. Peer pressure! It was cool seeing the folks mix our ice cream on steel plates. They handed us our cups. I was excited. The guys were so friendly and great explaining everything to us. My friend was so kind to treat me. She paid with her debit card. Tap and done! There was a small bench outside, but it has a lot of ice cream drippings. Instead, we stood in front of my car and indulged. We both enjoyed our vegan ice cream. The base seems to be coconut milk, but it wasn't overpowering at all in the strawberry banana. The coconut milk ice cream had small coconut bits in it, which I loved so much. We were both surprised that the rainbow marshmallows were crunchy. My friend was expecting those in Lucky Charms cereal. Same. They were good, as were my white chocolate chips. I wanted to lick my cup. My friend said that she didn't mind if I did!
