The people who are working here always seem to be in such good mood. I actually had an experience recently where I apologized so much because I felt so high maintenance with the amount of questions I had. However, I was assured I wasn't a burden in any way and got all my questions answered. My only complaint is that I don't want a Cabelas credit card, so stop trying to sell me one every time I enter the store. read more

This review is regarding the Santa experience that I've been going to for the last two years. I've been a big fan! It's easy to make your reservation on time and Santa is seriously THE BEST! I love bringing my dog's to Cabela's because it is so dog friendly. One of my dogs even hugged a mannequin during her first visit because she thought it was a person. I love how the Santa experience is set up. Plenty of space for large groups or even small groups to experience Santa. Surprisingly, my dogs loved seeing Santa and Santa even offered to hold one of their leashes for the photo. I'll be back next year! read more

Got to look around while I waited for my name to be called at the gun counter. 2 hours later I was allowed to ask can u recommend a decent scope for an pcp air rifle I was told no they're over there somewhere (with a brush off gesture). Pretty awesome store - and my brother in law loves stopping in here. This is my first time at this location and I loved the set up. Reminds me of Bass Pro Shop a lot, but only way closer to my house. I'm not much of a hunter or camper like he is, but it is a great place to shop for him! They have a lot of hunting gear and clothing. We are thinking about getting a fishing license next year to go with them, maybe even ice fishing eventually. The gun section was pretty large as well. They have employees around the store ready to help out. One particular employee saw that my niece really wanted to be near her dad and he cheered her up. He was very kind and I enjoyed talking with him and learning about the animals on the wall. Great service at checkout as well and the roasted nuts taste amazing! read more

I'm not an outdoorsman. But we were looking for a dehydrator and did some research and asked around. Were told to look here. We went to this massive store. If you are into hunting, fishing or camping this may be your heaven. The guy who greeted us at the door steered us to were we needed to go. We encountered Rich who was very helpful answered the questions we asked and even called over someone who worked there who owned the dehydrator we were looking at and she really was helpful, told us different uses which was helpful. Plus they have a nice selection of big and tall men's clothing which I will go back and check out. The employees I encountered there were all super friendly. read more

The anticipation of the long awaited Cabela's in Chesterfield has finally arrived and we wanted to see what all the hype was about. I first must say, we're not the hunting or fishing type but we do like being outdoors and that's why it was worth a trip there on the second day of their grand opening. It didn't disappoint, in fact the walk around the store to see what all it had to offer was quite fun as we took it all in. This is definitely the place to go if you're into hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, water activities etc. Just looking at all of the wildlife on the walls and on display was fun and it's definitely something the kids as well as adults would love to see. But aside from the decor, they have plenty to offer for just about everyone in any of the above mentioned activities. The clothing selection offered very good prices and it's something to keep in mind when shopping for any of your outdoor attire. The parking lot is huge and even with the large amount of people shopping and checking out the 'new kid in town' there were still plenty of parking spots left to fill. The beauty of this location is that is that it's so close to I-94 with easy access from any direction and near so many of our water ways. If you're coming from any other directions, there are entrances off both M-59 and 21 Mile Rd. read more

It's great to have Cabelas in the metro Detroit area finally. This store is significantly smaller than other locations I've gone to which is surprising considering there is a massive amount of land and there nothing around it yet. On a Sunday afternoon his place was jam packed and the parking lot was full. I guess hunting season is in full swing! I came with a specific item in mind and to browse. Sadly, they did not have the item I was looking for and apparently I will need to order online. Some of the items listed on sale online are not on sale in store which is annoying, especially in the day of trying to maintain brick and mortar stores, you'd think you'd want to entice people to shop in store with good prices. I did end up picking up a few gifts. I perused the store a bit and not surprisingly the gun and hunting sections was where the majority of customers could be found. They have a few animals on display (deer, turkeys etc) but not nearly the showcase that I was accustomed to back in Pennsylvania. There were also no fish display , booo! If you enjoy those roasted nuts they sell, the smell is very stomach growl worthy. However, this girl has a nut allergy so none for me. I noticed in the far corner of the store they have a fudge stand, but no restaurant like the one back home. Also missing from this store is home goods and furniture (think cabin) that my go to store back home had tons of. So, if you need guns, ammo, coolers, clothes or gear this is your place but overall this store was missing a lot of what I had been expecting from previous visits to other stores. read more

I'm only speaking on the gun counter. The people that work the gun counter move as slow as a snails pace and disappear forever it feels like one minute you'll have 4 or so sales reps than the next they are all gone in the back. I waited in line for an hour and a half. l. When my name got called he couldn't find the rifle so once again i was waiting for him to find it which took about 20min. Once he brought it out he could barely read the serial number on the barrel which led to him having to call someone over to assist him. After a few minutes of that i filled out the 4473 which took no more than a few minutes. Now it's time to wait for 3 more people to check the serial number. which took the longest cause he had to go find people to do so. all in all i was there for about 2 hours and some change. they need to develop a system to solely help people picking up rifles. I rather pay for shipping and a FFL transfer fee than deal with the wait time here. Everything else and everyone else is/are nice and the store is cool but the gun counter needs some work. And it isn't just this cabela's/bass pro. it's all over CA,CO,FL. and yes i've had the same experience there as well from being military and traveling read more

Every time I go to the firearm section, even with 3 people ahead of me it's always an hour long wait or more. This time I decided to see how much they'd offer me for my firearm that I paid $1200 for and only has 20 rounds through it. So I waited over an hour in line to have Jerry check out my pistol. He surely checked it out and offered $400 for it... as if I don't know much about the firearms I buy. He tried to come up with some BS that cabelas sold the same gun for cheaper than what I wanted for it ($800) and I told him I checked the website and they sold it for 1k, then he got mad. Mind you, I would've been happy with even $700 because I know I wasn't going to get all my money back anyways. So I denied his terrible offer and told him I was just going to sell it to someone else who offered way more for it. I told him my intent was to trade it, but since we didn't come on an agreement, I still wanted to check out the firearm I was going to look at. He said,"yea I'll help you out, just take your firearm back to the car." So I took my firearm back to the car, then came back in the store looking for him. I finally found him after he disappeared. I approached him so he could help me, and he asked what did I want like he didn't remember me. I told him I still wanted to check out that firearm and asked to help me out like he said. After I reminded him, he said I could check back in line where I would have to wait another hour. He was upset because I didn't want his lowball offer and refused to help me. I've never pulled the race card, but this is the third time because of how I look and how young I am I get treated poorly. I've been serving in the army for over 6 years and contribute to society with my blue collar civilian job, and then have to deal with people like Jerry that show no respect and discriminate. Nice way to treat your club members Cabelas (oh yea, im a club member). Surely won't be shopping there again thanks to fat snobs like Jerry. Already bought the gun that I wanted somewhere else where they respect people like me. Might even cancel my membership. read more

The staff is all really nice and very helpful. Some are a little shy and you have to walk right up to them to get help but they're still friendly and helpful. The place is in a good location. However, they appear to be rearranging everything and, as of now (2/4/21), the place is really messy. It's hard to figure out where stuff is now and entire areas were redone. I was here a month or two ago and the place is very different now. I'll get used to it. Nice people. Great products. Decent prices. Cashiers get you out of there fast and without an issue! The member area for club stuff has tons of great and friendly workers. The stockers on the floor are the ones who are somewhat shy which makes sense. Overall a nice experience. I do appreciate every Cabela's I come across. This one is pretty new, apparently, and still has that new store feel. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as most others I've been to with slightly less space (not sure why they didn't just take more of the surrounding area to make it larger since there's literally nothing around it). Stopped by to buy a gift, and had no problem getting a price match to their website (though, curious why there was a discrepancy). Checkout was pretty good, but could have been managed better just to make sure there was adequate coverage to reduce lines, especially for a weekend. Parking was okay, though again, not sure why there isn't more given the land availability around the store, but who knows what the land ownership situation is so there might be a good reason for it. Ordered a gun from here for a birthday present. It arrived- I drove an hour, waited two to discover the serial number did not match the order. So no sale. I found the same model at the store, and that caused a dilemma for sales. They had to think that one out. All in all- don't buy a gun here. read more

This firearm department is a complete joke I called a couple days before to put a black handgun on hold, I put 25% down and the gun was put on layaway everything went smoothly. Couple days later I go in to pick up the handgun, took a ticket and waited about 40 min before I saw anyone (which I expected it because it was a new store) Finally my number gets called and in come the douchebag that begins to assist me. I still regret that I didn't take his name down (big beard probably in mid 30's) my number gets called and I walk up to the counter. Right from the beginning he had this condescending attitude and looked like he didn't wanna help me (probably cause I looked young) He had a worker with him, probably new and just shadowing the douche that was helping me. He's like how can I help you, told him I had a gun on hold... he stares me down for like 10 seconds then asks for my drivers license. Goes to the back and comes out and opens the box, and it's the wrong color, silver finish Instead of black. Then I told him "No" I have a gun on hold, I put a down payment on it couple days before. He goes back and he finally finds it, then he asks how old I am even though I gave him my drivers license. He then asked me if this was a gift, and I said yeah it's for my little cousins so he can shoot at the gun range sometimes with me, I obviously wasn't going to give him the gun, it was going to stay under my possession (cause he's like 16 years old) And then the guy that he is says "yeah I can't sell you the gun because it's a gift and it's considered straw purchase. I'm like no that's not straw purchase, i am purchasing the gun with my own money and it's going under my name and it will stay with me. What I choose to do with the gun is up to me because I am the sole owner of that gun. And we go back and forth and nothing happened. Mind you I didn't raise my voice during the entire time, I just stayed calm and cool, Then his manager comes by and he says return his down payment and he can have a nice day... Just like that... I've been looking for this specific gun for a week, I live on orchard lake, this was an hour drive for me and to come all the way down here just to get shutdown and disprected. Right from the getgo he didn't wanna sell me the gun I can tell, I will never come back to this place, my first and last visit, it was completely tainted by that dickhead with a big beard at the firearm department Which I mean I understand why he's a jerk to people, he's most likely in his mid 30's working as a clerk at a dead end job probably making 28k a year All in all I love Cabelas (the one in Dundee) Not this knockoff one, don't bother coming here and spending your hard earned money, place is a joke, I hope that Guy with a beard who was my sales person see's this and knows that he'll never succeed in life with that attitude, he almost ruined my little cousins Christmas that fuckface, luckily I managed to purchase it from a private seller, so I guess it all worked out read more

During this pandemic everyone is masked , gloves and still very cheerful and helpful, my only issue was checking out, things kept dropping on the floor and my register person was training someone while ringing me up, during major sales events , I'd like more attention paid to my order, and if it gets knocked on the floor they should be picking it up , I am handicapped and very patient, but I had spent a considerable amount of money and when I got home 3 items were missing, so I had to call the store explain the situation to two people and though the weather was bad , the manager assured me she would be awaiting my return. She was kind , apologetic and fixed the issue. Tall blond women, very kind, had what was dropped on the floor waiting for me and had me out in 5 minutes. I went in to look at guns and was surprised how small the selection was. I asked one of the salesman if there were more sig sauer and he was very rude and told me I needed to get in line, which I then did. I then signed in to the line from my phone and was next to be helped. After 45 min it was clear only one salesman was working and the other two were only there to talk to each other and I left. Will never return to this store. Very glad sportsman's warehouse was not bought out by cabelas, Ill drive the extra 30 minutes for the customer service. read more

I purchased a new gun 3/25 on their site. They stated it would be 3/30, but then I got the confirmation from them it stated 4/6.(which is annoying but I wasn't upset), then 4/6 came and went... No gun.. Called 4/13 to ask what is going on, the lady tells me it still shows in transit and they can't track it unless it's been lost for 9 days. 4/15 FINALLY it comes! I can't go in right away due to my work schedule until the weekend, which no biggie. I show up 4/18 (Saturday) at 1pm since they say they are open from 12-5 but it says on the sign on the door they can't do anymore gun purchases or online pick ups. I speak to the customer service desk and they told me to come in at 10am the next morning. (again the hours on the doors and site clearly say hours 12pm to 5pm) So today I go up there and get in line at 10am, sure as shit they opened at 10am..I'm optimistic now and excited I finally get it. Clearly I'm wrong... Apparently you have to then give your phone number to the check in girl. They text you and you go get a number ticket(like you would at a deli). You then have to wait in the same line as people looking at guns, another hour passes, I finally get up to the counter. The gentleman helps me and I fill out the background check paper work. I then go to the other area to wait for it to come back. Of course the site crashed as I'm waiting, and they can't do anything until it's back up. (again I'm annoyed but it's not anyone's fault shit happens.) They take everyone's number and tells us that they will call us as soon as it's up. Of course I've been there for over 2 1/2 hours and I found other things, so I purchase my other items and go home to wait. I finally get the call at 2:30pm that the sites up. Sweetness! But... Since it crashed they have still been giving numbers out and I go to the back of the line even though I was there and it crashed on me. Oh wait it's even better. They are no longer giving numbers out today, SO I LITERALLY CAN'T GO GET MY ITEM I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING!! I'm not upset about the crashing or that my item was misplaced for over a week. But this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of! I bought this almost a month ago and I still can't even get it because of how they are managing how they are doing this pick up. My husband and I have gone to this specific store 3 times. Each time (two visits before covid) the service was terrible, can't find anyone to ask for help. Today we went to buy a shotgun, was expecting to leave with one, but only 2 people behind the counter. We get in line in the "que" and we wait one hour inside the store to then get a text to make our way to the gun counter, upon walking over , which took 30 seconds we were taken out of the que. Anyways we left and didn't spend one dime there. We went to Michi-gun and bought a real nice shotgun and happily spent $4000 on it. We will never shop at Cabelas ever again. read more

I went to purchase a pistol and the staff seemed great. Then I got a delay status from my background check. I was surprised because I am 70 years old and had not even had a ticket in over 30 years. I was told no problem but the law stated I would have to wait 3 days to pick up the gun and to go ahead and finish up the paperwork. 5 days went by and no reply from the store. I went back to the store and asked to speak to the manager. I knew I was in trouble when they pointed out a little ginger-headed guy. He told me that it is Cabela's store policy not to ever sell a gun after getting a delay status no matter how many days go by. I could not get a straight answer when I asked why they continued to do the paperwork for the gun sale and why they charged my credit card if they knew they would not sell the gun. He told me the law says they CAN sell a gun after a 3-day wait but they do not HAVE to sell it. God he is lucky I am 70. read more

Takes almost ten minutes to ring the first guy up because he has a ton of clearance fishing equipment which for some reason needs to be entered manually. Then the guy in front of me....same damn thing. Not the customers faults, the guy at the register wasn't even slow, but the process. Give me a break, and it's 2019. Get a better system. I've been waiting for this store to open for months and finally got to go a few days after they opened. Holy cow a huge parking lot that was FULL. Lucky me found a spot up front and in I went. I've never see a larger selection of reloading supplies or gun stuff in my life. I found the Large Pistol Primers that were on sale, but the tag on the display showed the non-sale price. I used the Cabella's Android App and scanned the bar code and it showed the sale price so I picked one up and headed to the counter. The cashier rang it up and it didn't show the sale price. I showed the cashier the app price and he immediately changed it, and was quite eager and pleasant doing so. I'll be going back for sale items or things that cost too much to ship and maybe if I want something now and can't wait for shipping somewhere else. Store was very clean and organized, I found anything I looked for pretty quickly. There were a bunch of people in line buying guns, but there were also a lot of sales associates helping them. Thought he was flirting a bit but maybe I was overreacting. The store is clean and well organized if rather small. I don't understand why Cabela's would choose to build such a tiny store with so much land available in what appears to be a very good location. I'm especially disappointed that this Cabela's has no range. Unless you catch a sale, the price are exceptionally high. The primary reason I chose to give this store only two stars is the staff. The people I dealt with seemed bored and disingenuous even borderline rude. Picking up my online ordered pistol with a CPL took nearly an hour. The employees made the experience painful and completely unenjoyable. I was excited to pick up my purchase and see this store for the first time. Honestly, I will likely never go back. Staff is beyond rude. They force customers to wait in a 3 hour line JUST to talk to someone in the gun department. They have one guy behind the counter. meanwhile 50 other employees are just walking by like the line doesn't exist. This was true both times I was there. Finally got to the front and they almost didn't sell me a gun because one of the numbers of my zip code on my license was hard to read. Everything else was clearly legible including the address. You could clearly tell what the scratched number was, an 8. And even if you couldn't, the city and state serves the same purpose. Anyways laws are laws and I understand so I don't hold this against them but the guy attending to me didn't even mention that I could use my registration. I had to talk to the manager to get that piece of information. Next my My firearm background check was delayed due to the coronavirus surge in gun sales and I had to to come back a few days later after it completed. Not their fault, but when I came back, they made me stand in the 3 hour line again instead of just helping me at the pickup counter. The guy at the counter talked to me like he was a cop talking to a criminal telling me to go stand in line at the gun counter. He did not speak to me like a person in customer service should speak to a patron. I don't know that I've ever been to a retail store where the staff has been so rude and inconsiderate. I will never go to another Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop. Ever. read more
