Absolutely horrible management and service. Due to lack of preparation they had a fiasco during Mother's Day where around 150 people were stuck waiting for their food. Food promised to be ready at a specific time was delayed by over an hour and a half. Although the hard work of employees was appreciated they did nothing to compensate or apologize for the situation. Went here for an early Valentines Day dinner and first impressions are everything and we will never return. When we got there there was a string of garland at the hostess stand with pictures of the staff making super inappropriate faces and then when we got sat I could see through the kitchen doors a bottle of DayQuil where the cooks were and our waitress was sitting in a booth across from us loudly talking to someone, cussing and eating and would get up and ask us if we needed anything and then sit back down to watch tv and eat. It was the most unprofessional thing I've ever seen and to top it off the food was bland and inedible and now I fear the cooks infecting everyone with his illness! I've added the photos of the DayQuil in the kitchen and our waitress eating her lunch out in the open. She acted like if we needed anything we were disturbing her lunch. Not sure who manages this place, but they need to do better! read more

This place is great, I drove past it a few times and decided to give it a shot. The decor is modern and comfortable and the service was attentive and friendly. The meal was started with complimentary bread and once our dinner entrees and appetizers were ordered we received salad family style similar to Olive Garden and Fratelli's. I enjoyed the crab dip app which came with a mini baguette. The dip had great flavor, bread was warm and soft, I would order it again. For my entree, I had the Chicken Chesapeake which was very good! If you've been to Fratelli's it's almost identical to theirs. The crab cake itself was very good. It had lots of crab and little filler which everyone in MD knows makes a great crab cake. I had it with the side of pasta and our waitress modified my order so I could have everything over the pasta instead of on the side which was great! I had the tiramisu for dessert it could've used a little more rum flavor for my liking but overall I enjoyed it. My dads cannoli cake however was very large and a little too cold like it had been sitting in the fridge too long. Other than the cannoli cake, & finding a couple of small shells in my crab cake I had no complaints and enjoyed our dinner. We will be back for sure especially for the crab cake special on Tuesdays! If you like Fratelli's you will like this place, almost thought they were owned by the same person. read more

I have had the pleasure of dining in and carryout for lunch. Although it is a great place for dining for dinner, I definitely would not recommend lunch carryout. The food is half administered for lunch carryout. The Bruschetta carryout was not at all bruschetta but a loaf of plain Italian bread with some chopped tomatoes. The bread was not toasted and their was no oil. Loaded with garlic. I believe I will never order carryout for lunch from this place, again. This is my second mishap with Basta Pasta in Eldersburg. The appetizer was priced at $20 and wasn't worth a penny of that money. read more

Everything was great. Service was great. Sarah was an excellent server. Very attentive right on time every time. Cream of crab could use a bit more old bay. The crab dip with hot bread was very good. Zucchini chips were really tasty. Our dinners were two filet mignons, veal Marsala with rosoto and chicken in a lemon butter sauce. Portions were huge. This is by far the best food in Eldersburg/Sykesville! The Lunches or Dinners are always very flavorful and always consistent. I have taken friends and Family there for dinner many times. I wanted to give this place five stars because so many things about it were amazing -- the food, the service, and being seated immediately. However, what kind of an Italian place tells you that they're "not doing pizza today"?! So, we selected surf and turf instead. The steak was a little flakey to me (like fish texture), but still satisfying and seasoned well, and the scallops were very filling with loads of butter. Ordered dinner here tonight through their website. Not a cheap meal for our family, but it was a special occasion, so I bit the bullet. Drove to the restaurant, picked up the order and then back to the house, a 20 minute round trip. Opened the bags and two bowls of soup were missing, one was my wife's dinner. I called the restaurant, described my issue and was put on hold. After waiting several minutes, I hung up and called back. This time the manager came to the phone. I explained my issue again and gave him my name. He told me I could come back to the restaurant and get the soups. I said that would take me 20 minutes and my original food order would be cold when I got back. He said he could refund the soups. I explained that one of the soups was my wife's dinner. The Manager did not seem to care and said those were my only options. I told him I was very displeased and told him to credit the soups. He was not interested if I was upset or not and offered no other means to make the situation right. Two hours later and no credit. I will now have to dispute my charge with my credit card company. I will no longer be a customer at this restaurant given the way was treated. VERY POOR customer service! read more

I gave it 4 stars only because of the atmosphere. It is "big" and "cold". No ambiance of any kind. My wife an I, went twice for the crab cakes, and my opinion as a retired restaurant owner, is one of the best I ever had out of a less than a hand full of restaurants in Baltimore and surrounding counties. So needed a place for my Fiancé to carb up before a local triathlon. Found this gem through a local Yelp search and decided to give it a try. We can be foodie snobs at times and this place did not disappoint. The server was pleasant and accommodating with every request. The breadsticks were yummy (he ate a couple of rounds) and salad was fresh. The crab toast appetizer is a hit and the entrees were on par with most Italian places. Had to minus one star for the risotto, a bit mushy. We would definitely return the next time we are in the area. read more

2/15/19 Came in at 5:15 for dinner. We were told it's a 45 minute wait. Looking around there's 16 empty table that are all reservations. As of writing this its now 5:40 and 3 of those tables have been filled. I'm not sure if the other 13 all have a 5:45 reservation or not but I expect a mad rush of people. I thought the goal was to turn tables over to make money but apparently not at this location. We won't return. read more

After we paid we were asked twice by two different employees if there was anything else we needed. What a horrible experience. I have never felt pushed out of a restaurant before. Went on Saturday January 11, 2020, my wife has been there before and highly recommended. When we came in told seating only available in bar or we could wait 55 minutes. I noticed several empty tables in the dining room. We were told that they were expecting a large party of 36 latter. Since my wife wanted to dine here we sat in the bar in a small both. From my seat I could see the dining room. More seats became empty and the room was only half full. We ordered our dinner and were first served a salad and bread. The salad was terrible, a big bowl of lettuce. There were 2 grape tomatoes and 2 olives besides the lettuce mix. The main meal was very good. The service was very bad. Only saw our waitress when we ordered an got the check. Fortunately others refilled our drinks etc. Would I go there again me no my wife said go again the dining experience was not what she had experienced before. read more

I took my sister to Basta Pasta for lunch as a treat. She loved it as much as I do. The crab cake - HUGE - was to die for! Hardly any filler and the jumbo lump crab cake was seasoned to perfection (Old Bay). The vegetables were crisp, just the way we like them. She got a chicken pasta dish and ate every morsel. This is the second time I have eaten at Basta Pasta and each time it has been excellent! Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We had lunch this time. Spouse had fish & broccoli. She was happy with that and the salad and bread sticks. I had veal parmesan with potatoes. The veal was not a paddy thankfully, but was rather thin. Tasted more breading and sauce. Potatoes were tasty. The bread sticks looked like they were dipped in butter or oil. Couldn't bring myself to try them. Wife ate one...thought it was a little greasy. Service was acceptable...nothing out of the ordinary. We probably will be back. read more

This place was very talked about so I decided to try it. They have a nicer atmosphere than Olive Garden but they are still comparable in my opinion. The severs were very nice and very attentive but the reason I'm giving this place two stars is because my salad was way over dressed and my chicken wasn't fully cooked, it was pink in some parts. Also I have heard from people who've worked there that the owner is not the most pleasant towards the servers and that definitely makes me not want to eat there. read more
