Bastard Pies has a new food truck and they're currently located next to the Tipsy Whale, 6541 Sexton Dr NW, Olympia.

They have a new food truck! Prior to this, they've had a pop up restaurant, under EZ ups, and they were so excellent , that now they've got this cozy truck with a full pizza oven. The pizzas are outstanding! Our order was made from scratch in about 15 minutes. The truck is parked next to the Tipsy Whale currently. I hope they stay there a long time. We're planning to return, get some beers at the Tipsy whale and eat pizza in the beer garden! Fun night out!

Best wings in town in my book. Kind customer service for a food truck. Chef's kiss

One of our new favorite spots! Pizza was amazing! It was busy, but the wait time wasn't bad at all. Highly recommend giving it a try!

They do bring your pizza to the table. I order their cider and got the Mountain Dude pizza that has Canadian bacon, pepperoni, bacon, pineapple and herbs. 12" for $25. Seems a bit high but the pizza itself was delicious. Enjoyed it there and enjoyed it again as leftovers. Lots of choices for pizza which can be overwhelming but there's a pizza for everyone. The staff here have always been super helpful and it's a cute space for a counter service spot. This location is also way better at lunch because you can actually find parking. Salads are fine. The staff is always friendly and they make good suggestions. Food is served reasonably fast and with a smile always! (Suggestion: do not order the walnut dressing on pizza.... It looks inedible.) Comfortably self serve and self bus the table, which is perfect for a quick lunch. The separate bar looks friendly and interesting, but we didn't try it at lunch. This place looks like it would be especially great and buzzing with community on a warm summer evening. The only drawback is the inside space is cold in the fall/winter and the acoustics make it very loud and hard to hear. We go back for the food!

Place had maybe 8 total people so not busy. Went up to Server/Cashier near front to let her know I was there for pickup and was immediately told "The servers like it when you stand by the table" in a mildly pretentious tone. No "Hi" or "How can I help you?" This is downtown Olympia so typical establishment behavior. Not surprised. Place was clean and very nicely decorated.Took about 5 minutes to get my pizza which was surprisingly quick. The Pizza I generally like my pizzas crisp and this was not even close. Very soggy, and not much flavor (Pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, olives). This was thin crust so that potentially had something to do with taste and texture. I would compare this Pizza to what you get at MOD. It's not too bad, but not too good. Average at best and I expected a lot better. Cost was about normal (14" pizza and bread appetizer for $50 plus tax). Marinara sauce for bread was delicious. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience. It's by no means gourmet or fancy pizza. Perhaps the rest of their menu is better. Server needs to chill out and brush up on her customer service skills. 3 stars at best.

Heavy sigh... My first pizza from Old School was delightful. Amount of toppings? Check…read more Distribution of sauce and cheese? Just right. Not overcooked, not undercooked? Check. Just moved to Oly and was searching for my new go-to places so I thought, great, excellent pizza place - all set. Or so it seemed. The 3-4 times since then have been no where near that first experience, sadly. There are two main issues. One, attention to the making of the pizza. Either the cooks are careless or, more likely, poorly trained. Sauce needs to have good even coverage - within an inch or inch and a half of the crust edge. Cheese distribution is even more important. If it is not touching the crust as a way to anchor the cheese as it melts, everything just pools to the center as it cooks. That leaves the enjoyer of the pizza (me) having a couple of first bites that are okay and then over half of the pizza concentrically with dry crust that has no toppings. Where did the toppings go? All gooped up in the center. I had to throw up half of my large two topping pizza due to it being tasteless crust only. I've worked in the pizza world for longer than perhaps I should have so, while I waited for my pizza, I watched the cook on the makeline and knew I was doomed. Making a pizza is not an art - the artistic elements have to do with your dough ingredients, sauce seasonings, selection of quality ingredients, and such. Constructing a pizza is a skill that anyone can learn, they just need instruction and consistent attention to that construction. Secondly, again, either an issue with the cook(s) or a management decision to noticeably decrease the quantity of the toppings. For a two item pizza, I should be able to taste the sausage let alone SEE it. Aargh. So, so disappointed. My brain, unbidded, went to the thought of asking for a job application so I could get in and make my own pizza as well as support the staff to do the same. Alas, almost no one can make a mortgage payment as a pizza chef and by the time I retire I won't be old school cool enough to work there. Back to making pizza at home I guess. Love you folks and support your presence but what happened to my first time experience?? OR, just tell me who the best cooks are and I'll make a personal request next time I call.

The pizza was incredibly fresh and absolutely delicious -- you can truly taste the quality in every bite. We watched them toss the pizza into the oven right in front of us, which made the experience even better and really highlighted how fresh everything was. We ordered the 18" pizza and did a half-and-half so we could share with our little one, and it was perfect for all of us. We came in just before the rush, but you'd never know it -- the staff was already hustling, working efficiently, and taking great care of everyone without missing a beat. On top of the great food, the restaurant has a very chill, laid-back vibe and is super family-friendly, which made it even more enjoyable to sit, relax, and eat together. Great food, great energy, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do. We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
