Looking for a late lunch, we settled on Twenty Two Taphouse. It was recommended by a local, so that's always a good thing. Also used to be Goofy's pub, so I've been there before, half a lifetime ago. The building is big inside, and out. Post and beam design and quite nicely decorated inside. We were seated quickly, and appeared to just beat the rush, as a bunch of party's came in right after us. Our waters were quickly dropped by the young lady who sat us, and we were then handed off to our server. We sort of got lost in the shuffle, and sat for a bit before she came by. We ordered our beverages and food at the same time, which we typically do not do. Our food came out before our beverages which I am never a fan of. My Togarashi Orange bowl was a big portion, but I got none of the Togarashi nor orange in it. It had a hint of heat which was great. The mango had no taste at all. K's Beef dip was ok, but lacked real flavour and the au jus was just alright. We also felt the fries were a little sparse. If I was given the opportunity to give half marks it would be a 3.5, not a 4, but also definitely not a 3. We'd give it a go again when on Sechelt. read more

We had a Birthday party for 23 people. The service was amazing, the food was fabulous and the ambiance was so inviting we didn't want to leave. They let us come early to decorate, they made sure the accessible entrance was clear and unlocked for our wheelchair, and they remained close by to get us more drinks whenever one of our guests needed a refill. Definitely recommend this venue for any gathering. read more

The Poutine was amazing, I even got it with a Burger and this BBQ Burger SLAPS, the Poutine is a dance of flavours in my mouth which I enjoyed heavily. The service is just immaculate, Ayyah was an awesome person, very down to earth, a kind and lovely person! Plus made me and my mother laughed. So good, had two nights in a row! The wine was Tin Horn from BC (Cabernet Franc) was incredible! While delectable, that, wasn't even my favorite part. My favorite part was the service. It felt like home the first, and the second time I stepped into Twenty Two. Prab made all the difference for each of two nights I was there. The first night, Prab helped me to taste the wine before deciding upon one. The second night I purchased a bottle of wine. She was awesome in helping me to understand that on Wednesday nights, they have specials on bottles. She didn't have to tell me that, but she did. She has great ethics about her. While there I made other friends too, and was treated extremely well (Brandon, Aja), and others made it feel like home to me; like your neighborhood lounge and all were so very professional at the same time. The staff are welcoming, and the food is better than you'd expect from a taphouse -- solid burgers, fish & chips, and share plates. Really good food, really slow service. We came on a busy Tuesday evening - around 7:45. The tables were all full. From our perspective, there seemed to be four tables per server? Anyway, there seemed to be a few servers around but we could only be served by one server - we know this because we were unsuccessful in trying to flag down a server when our server wasn't checking in on us (as nice as she was). Estimated timeline: Got seated right away. 8 minutes before taking our drink orders. 8 minutes before we got our drinks. 10-15 minutes before orders were taken. Half an hour for food. No water offered, and it took a while to get the bill even though there were less people. Maybe my timeline is off but we were there for 2 hours and it doesn't take us too long to eat. DESPITE THAT, this place was the bomb. Food was definitely worth the price. My husband loved the union lager (a house tap beer). I had the guava lychee lemonade. My drink tasted good though I do not have a sweet tooth. The burgers were filling and delicious. And the fries were perfectly crisp - ( we usually ask for extra crispy). I highly recommend upgrading to dirty fries. If I were in a foul mood, maybe I'd give it lower stars for the slow service? This was my first time at Twenty Two Taphouse. I enjoyed my experience but found the service to be slow. I liked the overall look of the place as the furniture was modern and created a fantastic atmosphere. The taphouse lives up to its name, offering a wide variety of beer. I wish that the drink menu had better descriptions of what you were ordering as it was hard to decide on what to get without knowing what kind of flavours you were getting yourself into. The food menu had tons of choices and it was difficult to decide what to get because everything sounded delicious. The food that we ordered (Love Me Tenders, Onion Bhaji and the Beet Poke Bowl) was great and arrived quickly. The Onion Bhaji is a must order item. Super crispy and goes great with a cold beverage. I would definitely be willing to give this place another shot as I think the reason our service was slow was because they were understaffed/training new servers. read more

My partner and I just arrived in Sechelt from Vancouver for a week vacay now that we can travel BC again and were so happy to see we arrived the same day this taphouse had their big opening! We had to wait about 45 minutes for a seat because they were understaffed so we headed to another spot Batch 44 for a drink while we waited (also a great spot). The beauty of Sechelt is everything is all really close since it's such a quaint town. Our table was ready after two drinks so we headed over and were seated right away. The service was great and Belinis were on a $2 off special so naturally I got two! We ordered the crispy prawns to start and they were so damn good. Flavour was like a light curry and the dipping sauce complemented them perfectly. I ordered the fried chicken burger with fries and my partner had the beyond meat veggie patty with mushroom gravy. What I especially love about this menu is they have a ton of veggie and meat options especially on the share portion which for my partner and I is hard to find sometimes! There were some typos on the menu (bacon on the veggie burg) but realize there are a few kinks they're working through still so no prob. Now onto the chicken, the fried chicken burger had a lovely dill aioli flavour to it and the bun was soft and fresh. There was a great piece of crunchy lettuce and pickle on it too that balanced the flavours. The chicken itself was juicy and I am a BIG fried chicken person so I know. The mushroom gravy poutine was pretty flavourful as well with nice big chunks of cheese curd. I've had a lot of mushroom gravies and this one did not disappoint. Also the portion was so solid for a "side". My partner liked his beyond burger as well. Overall, this new restaurant has done a great job and their patio is stunning! I just hope they hire more staff soon so they can seat all their tables and have less of a line up. The aesthetic on the outside is gorgeous but I would have prob done the inside alittle differently as it feels abit like a Browns which isn't a bad thing just less unique. I would definitely hit up this restaurant again and would highly recommend to locals and anyone travelling through. read more

We found this gem on our last night here in Sechelt BC. We came up from Washington for some BC fun and scenery. They call themselves an "American Brew Pub". I can see that. The interior is larger than it looks from outside. The service was friendly and efficient. They have a huge menu including drinks and such. Okay. I was willing to experiment a little so I got Poutine and accompanied it with their version of French onion soup. The broth !! So dark it looked black in the bowl. It had the melted cheese and dark crusty croutons on top. I can't tell you how good it was because I don't have the word power to transport you dear reader like I was transported. While I was reveling in that goodness the poutine showed up. I knew going in it was french fries and gravy but that was it. Sounds pretty plain right? Wrong! The mushroom gravy and semi melted cheese curds took it up a level. The portion was almost too much but hey I was all-in on that deal. Allllll-innn. Good efficient service, and its nice inside. Food is pretty mediocre. Signature burger has what looked and tasted like a frozen patty and canned mushrooms on it. The bun couldn't stand up to the soggyness of the whole thing so I took it off and didn't bother eating it. For $20+ for the burger there are far better options in the area. Our last night of a fabulous few days on the Sunshine Coast we decided to eat at this establishment. What a treat! We sat outside on their patio, complete with table heaters, and great music. Came to 22 taps well aware of the staffing issues around town and expect to wait however I guess I came at just the right time last week. Hostesses sat us and informed us our waitress would be by shortly. We were greeted with a warm welcome and smile by our server. She was extremely knowledgeable and knew the menu inside and out. She recommended us her favourite cocktails, the berry mojito and the red sangria. We were not disappointed. We also tried the crab and lobster dip she had recommended was killer! Went here on a busy Sunday night. The waitress told me the food could be up to 45mins off the bat, and we had already come from another restaurant who's line up was out the door. We stayed and sure glad we did. The Ceasers were tasty and the burgers even better. Probably the best burger I have had in awhile ( Jerk Face Burger ). I am happy that this restaurant has finally opened in Sechelt but I am not happy about their deceptive tipping practices. Their machines make you tip on top of tax! It is wrong! If you want to give a server 18% for good service you are actually giving them over 20% because the machine puts 18% on the tab AND taxes. Do not go to this place if you have children or a baby. Tried to go here with our 3 month old who was sound asleep in the car seat and we were told we had to sit in the family section. This family section is a dark dingy room in the back that felt like you were seated underground. No one came to speak with us and the hostess did not even make eye contact. Have been here a couple of times food is wonderful and service is good despite the severe staffing issues everyone on the coast is currently having. The ribs were wonderful as was the beef dip (different occasions). The people I have talked to about this place all rave about how great it is. I initially went after a rave review from my neighbour. Have taken my stepson (who, as a trained chef, is not easily impressed) and he definitely thinks it worth a return the next time he is in town from the interior. Turns out one of my coworders also gives rave reviews to this place. It is owned by the same people as Saffron, so they have some local history and experience. read more

The food was okay but the service was extremely terrible, and I mean terrible! When we arrived the hotesses/manager was extremely rude to us. The server was nice however, she forgot to put our drink order, appetizer and main meal into the system. So we ended up waiting waited 40 minutes for drinks (including water), 1 hr for appetizers and 2 hours for our meal. She also rang in the wrong order for one of our appetizers and one of our meals. Initially, the only compensation the manager was willing to give us was to take one of the appetizers off of our meal. After some convincing the manager took 3 drinks, 1 meal and 1 of our appetizers off our tab. We were celebrating our 50th anniversary and I made a reservation @ Twenty-two Taphouse. Confirmed date, time and name with call taker. When we got to the restaurant - guess what? NO reservation. They checked 3 pieces of handwritten slips of paper. In process alone that is crazy. My brother in law (was our best man and lives elsewhere) called the Twenty-two Taphouse, just before we arrived (the family sweetly wanted to pay for our dinner). He was told we didn't have a reservation and then when he described us, was told that we had left the restaurant! We were eventually seated and both had a higher end meal. Honestly the food wasn't great for the price. Called to complain.about the screw up because this is the kind of thing an owner should care about. Restaurant business is about service. Did not hear back from him. Will we be back? .... sorry but not likely, if that is how they choose to treat us as patrons. read more
