Visited with reservation on a Friday night. Reservations via OpenTable. We were quickly greeted and seated and the team was very courteous. The manager also greeted us at our table to let us know she was available during our dining experience. We ordered the pictured dishes as well as their non alcoholic mocktail options which were very refreshing takes on standard cocktails like an Aperol spritz. The portion sizes were perfect for sharing and trying several different dishes. The flavors were robust and my favorite dish were the swordfish brochettes. Enjoyed the citrus fruit at the end of dinner which was a very sweet nightcap. We dined at Bastia a couple of weeks ago, and given the high prices, the food was overall just okay. The clear standout was the pork collar--by far the best dish we had and genuinely memorable. Other dishes we tried: Lentils starter: I'd read on Reddit that these were "the best lentils ever." I strongly disagree. I'd recommend saving both your money and your stomach space. Skate cheeks: Nicely tender, but a touch too salty. Grilled orata with pesto, tapenade, and artichoke: The fish itself was well-cooked, but there was too much going on. The tapenade felt like an odd pairing and overwhelmed the dish. Pasta with lamb, pistachio, and mint: Well-balanced, with the subtle mint being a nice touch. For dessert, we shared the Guanaja chocolate ganache, which didn't feel very refined. It came across as though there may not be a dedicated pastry chef--definitely not a highlight of the meal. The wine list is impressive, though we were more excited about the cocktails and focused on those instead. We each had a couple and found them good, but not great. I did enjoy a glass of port at the end of dinner. From the moment we walked into the restaurant in a hotel, everything was perfect. We made last minute reservations and they only had space at the bar which was perfect for me and my friend. Their cocktail menu is creative and we tried a number of them, reinforcing they know how to mix a perfect cocktail! My friend asked for a Rose during her meal and she said it was very good. THE FOOD!!!!! Hot bread comes out with a little bowl of olive oil and a few olives. Bread was so soft inside with a wonderful crunch crust, olive oil complemented it perfectly. We moved on to a number of starters at the recommendation of our bartender/server. Great description of each dish, despite the ingredients we were unfamiliar with. We decided in the shaved artichoke salad, crudo, and the popular skate cheek served with a creamy polenta (I never know polenta could taste this way!) I cannot tell you which was my favorite. We then moved on to the spaghetti all'aragosta with Maine lobster. Perfect el dente pasta with big chunks of lobster. We rounded this out with a side dish of endive and rhubarb salad. We really wanted to try the short ribs, but decided or full bellies wanted to try desserts instead. We made a great choice with a chocolate torte and tiramisu. While we waited for our dessert menus we opted for a flight of grappa to try the different ones they had. Each were amazing in their own way and my friend and I settled on our favorite. She was so busy but found time to great each of her customers, talk through drinks, wine, and explain the dishes on the menu. I had an amazing dinner here. Just the bread bowl (focaccia, white bread, and olive oil) was enough to awaken my taste buds before the meal even started. I got an appetizer, two pastas, and a dessert: * Figs with mangalitsa salame, truffle, Cardoon honey, Perrystead madcap cheese, and marconas * Torchietti with chanterelles, corn, ricotta salata, and basil * Spizzulus with Rohan duck, porcini, chestnut, and marjoram * Olive oil cake with almond gelato, confit fennel, and apricot preserves I enjoyed every bite. It was a pleasure to find this gem in the Fishtown area. I usually don't dine out unless I can find high quality food with dishes I couldn't make at home - creativity and innovation are necessary for me to enjoy a meal out. Enjoyment was had in this experience for sure. Our server was kind and knowledgeable, offering pescatarian options that also could be tweaked without dairy. Wow, what wasn't beautiful about this restaurant? Ok, so I've decided to hit all of 2025 Philadelphia Magazine's Top 50 Restaurants, beginning with #1: Bastia...which happens to be in a boutique hotel down the street from my house. Nice! Here we go... My dinner partner began by ordering what nearly every reviewer says is the bomb appetizer, the skate cheeks. While we waited, our server brought out their complimentary bread assortment, some great olive oil, and two olives. My partner wasn't exactly dazzled by the focaccia, but I thought all the bread was really good. Then came my cocktail -- the Bastia Spritz -- which I found to be a pleasant spin on an Aperol Spritz, and the skate cheeks, which were DELICIOUS! They were so good, in fact, I was truly considering ordering another one. But with a pasta course, entree, and desert coming at some point, I stopped myself. SO GOOD, THOUGH! For the second (pasta) course, we tried the rictotta dumplings, which were flavorful and nestled in a spicy, arrabbiata-like sauce. For me, the their texture was slightly strange. They were what I can only describe as soft and slightly spongy. This wasn't necessarily bad or off-putting, but it was somewhat surprising for something I kept thinking was a "meatball." They were so soft and spongy that my partner and I were compelled to double-check with our server that there was, in fact, meat in them, and not just ricotta cheese. "Yes, guanciale," he replied. Next came our entrees, my partner ordered the porcini mushroom risotto, and I ordered the swordfish brochettes (skewers) with black rice (another reviewer favorite). My swordfish was excellent, giving a modern take on classic Mediterranean flavors. My partners mushroom risotto was unusual, the flavor profile being a kind of "sweet and sour." For me, though, it was a bit too sweet for a vegan mushroom risotto, but my partner loved it. To wrap things up, we shared the olive oil cake with hazelnut ice cream, which was good, but nothing special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All in all, an exceedingly pleasant and interesting dining experience in a modern and cozy space with truly excellent service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, stealthily wiping our table clean and politely replacing our flatware between every course. There were more people working and our server Shawn was knowledgeable and attentive. Our meal was well paced and he checked on us during appropriate times. Our plates were switched out and they clean the tables in between and got the tomato sauce drips on the table near immediately. We never had to ask for our waters to be refilled. The ambiance was not as loud this time, although I suspect this is due to a difference between dinner and brunch. Most importantly, the food was truly excellent. Every dish we had was good. It was refreshing and interesting. We especially loved the pasta dishes such as the gnocchetti al limone with shrimp. That dish was simply incredible and won over my friend who does not enjoy seafood nor her pasta al denté. I did not get to take a picture of the bolognese but that was incredible as well. Everyone at the table loved that dish. I also thought the half chicken was a standout, perfectly tender on the inside with an amazing crispy exterior which went perfectly with the sauce. For share plates my personal favorite was the peaches with iberico lomo, ricotta, chervil and pistachio was a standout as well. It's definitely an interesting combination that really works well together and the green sauce used on it tied everything together and was amazingly delicious. Definitely top three of the night for me. We also enjoyed the tuna crude. I thought the preserved peppers went quite well with it and the strawberries were an interesting and refreshing choice for pairing. I was visiting a friend in town for the weekend and she heard really great things about Bastia, so we made a late dinner reservation. We were running behind that evening but fortunately we were able to push the reservation back without a problem. It's located inside a hotel, so might not be super obvious from the outside so just be on the lookout! The menu is pretty unique and had a lot of items I've never tried before so we put full faith in our waiter to help us choose what to eat. I believe some of their dishes are seasonal and I am pretty far behind on catching up with reviews (oops) but definitely ask for their recommendations! Some of the dishes had some interesting flavor profiles, with a mix of sweet and savory. Service was great and I loved the little tangerine at the end of the meal. Overall, glad that I got to try it out but it's definitely a bit on the pricier side so probably not somewhere I would frequent that often. read more

Holy cow this place was AMAZING!! Id made reservations here for Sunday night and I'm so glad I did. I believe our servers name was Sonia. She was great. She gave us some recommendations on what to order as well as the amounts of plates. Everything She recommned was delicious. I cant think of one thing that wasn't on point. Im so glad we got to try so many things. We started with the nectarine salad, stone fruit, skate cheeks and grilled octopus. The nectarine salad was a must try. The skate cheeks were also nicely cooked and the brown butter complimented the fish really well. The grilled octopus was cooked well and not too chewy with great flavor. My favorite dish was the mandili. It was saucy, a little spicy and the pasta al dente. The cocktails were also great. Very unique and perfectly balanced flavors. Vegetarian here. Appreciate the options for vegetarians and that some dishes can be modified to various dietary needs. Reservation for 730 on a Thursday. Upon arrival, greeted and promptly seated. Service is one of the best around. It's the small things that stood out. For example, when we finished our appetizers one of the waitresses walked over and not sure if she scraped the table but it wasn't a droopy wet towel that left a bunch of water behind. That being said, our overall experience was ok. The dishes were ok. My fiancé got a pasta special that he was struggling to eat because it was so salty. My pesto was ok, not great. My guess is that the seafood is probably much better and specials can be a bit risky. While vegetarian options were available, the best thing was the artichoke appetizer salad in the beginning. I was really skeptical going in, as I am not a fan of restaurants with menus that are quite indecipherable. I found myself spending a lot of time beforehand googling most of the dishes. But I do think that's more the nature of being true to the Corsican/Sardinian cuisine than being pretentious, so it ended up changing my mind. Cute cozy place tucked inside a quaint hotel. Definitely make a reservation as it was packed when we went. Pretty large menu of a lot of options that I was not familiar with at all. Chose 4: -- Bread service was complementary. Three different breads with a very delicious olive oil dipping sauce and 2 of the largest olives we've ever had. -- Skate cheeks: This was my favorite of the night. Such tender meat and a really great use of chili oil and love polenta in this way. Could've eaten multiple dishes of this. -- Shaved artichokes with Parmesan: Tart in such a nice way, a huge portion (all of the portions of the night were huge), and a really smart of textures/flavors. -- Fregola pasta: I knew this would be like cous cous so I enjoyed the pasta itself, but this was the least interesting in terms of flavor. A hearty amount of mussels, but I actually don't think mussels were the best option for this dish as it doesn't add much in the way of flavor. Autumnal in taste in a way I wasn't expecting. -- Whole orata: I am not a fan of whole fish but I was told this was mostly deboned (and it was but there were certainly a fair amount of bones, especially part of the spine). Love a good tapenade and this was FULL of olives/pesto/etc. Maybe a bit overboard on the tapenade. I wish the fish skin was a bit crispy as it seemed a bit like an afterthought (room for improvement). The service was stellar (chair pushed in, napkin folding when you went to the bathroom). Love a bathroom that invests in Le Labo soap. Your check is served with clementines, a custom of the region. Overall worth the try. Everything globally is a skosh expensive so probably wouldn't feel the need to come back. read more

Bastia in Fishtown is one of my new favorites! Came here last night with a friend and we absolutely loved it! The ambiance of this restaurant is modern and has a timeless elegance about it. It is located inside the brand new boutique hotel Ana & Bel that opened up a little over a month ago. We ever got a tour of some of the rooms which were so gorgeous and beautifully put together. We were even debating on doing a staycation here next summer to get to utilize their amazing pool outside! But back to the food and Bastia! They have a beautiful outdoor dining area but we did dine inside and it was just as lovely! The servers were so friendly and helpful when it comes to navigating their extensive menu! They also give you fresh fruit at the end of the meal as a Sardinian tradition! Such a nice touch I have highlighted what we got below: Small Starter Plates: - Shishito peppers with Tzatziki - Grapefruit & Cherries with burrata, hazelnuts & dark chocolate (truly an explosion of flavors!) - complementary bread & crackers for the table (I literally couldn't stop eating it, was so delicious!) Bastia overall offers unique flavor profiles on their menu, and honest/unapologetic Sardinian inspired dishes. Complementary bread service (+100 points automatically) 3 breads to try (semolina, foccacia, and a crunchy cracker type thing) and reaaaalllllyyyy good olive oil (so good i asked) We really enjoyed our experience here overall. We tried 3 "apps" from the top sections of the menu: blistered grapes, skate cheeks, and amberjack crudo. All 3 were well balanced and enjoyable - but each one left us wanting just a little more pop! A little citrus on all 3 would have pushed them over the edge for us, but were missing a bit of zing we're used to in creative italian cuisine! The polenta was the star of the skate dish for us. The crudo was good but needed more acid. The grapes were surprising - we ordered them for fun because grapes! Lol. We mostly were just wanting the foccacia it was served with to be warm or toasted. Entree's were good, i forgot to take photos. We ordered the swordfish skewers (which I enjoyed but my partner did not) which came on a bed of buttery black rice (yum!) and an aioli on the side (which was a miss for me and overpowered the fish). Additionally we got the whole orata, which comes with an olive gremolata on top that i was not a fan of (just too much of it) but came with a charred clementine to squeeze over the fish - something i had never tried but it was exquisite and the fish was prepared perfectly. The wine list is extensive, offering pretty much anything you could need from a pallet pleasing perspective. I had the malvasia orange wine and my partner had the cannonau, both were great. We made out at $235 (including tip) for 2 people and 2 glasses of wine (which to me is pretty good for a nice meal) and we left FULL (something atypical of the more expensive places in the city these days). Service was good with the typical misses - water glasses left empty over our entire entree course and empty wine glasses left on the table until we finished our meal. But our waitress was very knowledgeable and explained everything well on their menu. Loved this new restaurant in fishtown. Food is AMAZING and so good. Really loved the swordfish (best one I've ever had) and loved the bread platter (better than parcs imo). The beets were my fav apps. Cannot wait to go back and try more. I went with a fish/veggie eater so need to go back and try all the meat dishes! The only one I didn't love is the ricotta dumplings gnocchi things - little too Smokey for me but, we got them veggie. Now for the service and atmosphere. I may be a little biased since I come from nyc but the atmosphere is lacking a little. The hotel vibe is perfect and homey but, that needs to continue into the restaurant slightly. Maybe by adding more plants, art or decor this could help. Very minor but, just my pov ! The service was good but, our waiter was a little tired - acted like he's been working there for 30 years when the restaurants only been open a few months. We sat for brunch at Bastia and had a wonderful experience. Service was warm and attentive. A truly amazing experience. Went in thinking the Michelin sign on the door was for the restaurant and learned it was actually for the hotel. Left the meal thinking the restaurant should actually be the first four Michelin star restaurant. Food was amazing, made even better by the service. Jason told us stories about the food and journeys the chef went on--you could taste the dedication in every bite. Get a couple plates to share. Must haves are the skate and pesto! read more

Life changing. We ate here in January,and it may as well be the best meal of the year because nothing could possibly be better. The restaurant just opened,and it's inside the lovely hotel. The interior is gorgeous with soft warm lighting. We snagged reservations at the bar, which turned out to be such a win--the bar is gorgeous and each of their bar seats is so wide and spacious,and the staff behind the bar are hilarious and so fun. My drink (i think it was called Garden of the gods or soemthing) was unbelievably beautiful and so so delicious, easily a new favorite. And then the food. There are no words. Everything hit. And everything hit in such an outstanding way. I have no idea how they cook with such flavor and exceptional handling of the ingredients. The iberico pork secreto was the special that night and it was so mind-blowingly good I am salivating writing this. If you do anything in Philly, this is a MUST visit. Entrance is inside a boutique hotel. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is very trendy, lively, and loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Skate cheeks, grilled octopus, and shaved artichoke were great. Loved the ambience, service, food and drinks! Quality ingredients, creative combinations of flavors and impressive bar. Room is spacious and modern, tables spaced nicely. We ordered grilled sardines, salad with honey crisp apples, cheeks with polenta-all dishes were delicious. For entrees we had entrecôte with broccoli rabe and swordfish with black rice. I was a little bit apprehensive about black rice as sometimes it could be hard & tasteless but it was cooked to perfection. For desert my husband had olive cake and I had panna cotta . Panna cotta was a touch too sweet for my taste ( top of it). Highly recommend. read more

I've only been for lunch so far, and am eager to return for dinner. The space is beautiful inside the Anna& Bel hotel. The lebnah parfait is so fresh, zesty and refreshing as a light breakfast option. I've never tasted anything like it and am already craving more. The tartine is also very flavorful with a nice lemon dress side salad. I think they menus change based on season, but the spring menu is a big hit with me. If you like fresh high quality food you'll like it here! The service is good, but I sit at the bar so can't speak for table service. read more

We had a great experience at Bastia. Food was delicious and cooked perfectly. We had the crudo, shrimp, apple small plates as well as a pasta and the duck. Duck breast is always my favorite and it did not disappoint. Our tummy's left super happy. Service and ambience were also terrific! Such a nice, open but intimate space. Our server was able to answer questions for us and helped us navigate the menu. We would def go back. read more
