We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Talula's Garden today. Our waiter, Kenny, provided exceptional service making my daughter's birthday even more special. We sat in the outdoor garden on an unusually pleasant July afternoon (by Philly standards). It was very comfortable, even though the restaurant was full. We enjoyed several of the brunch entrees, to include the salmon eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros. The food was fresh, hot and perfectly prepared. My partner and I had a Starr gift card to use and we had heard good things about brunch at Talula's Garden so we made a reservation. We had been hoping to get outdoor seating, but OpenTable doesn't specify indoor or outdoor seating with your reservation and unfortunately only indoor seating was available when we arrived at our reservation time. I find the indoor lighting to be a bit dim for brunch and it feels more suited to dinner, but it's still quite pretty and spacious inside. We ordered a mimosa (strangely not on the menu but they're there!) and the mini chocolate croissants to start, which came in a set of three and were quite mini as described, but they were delicious with the whipped Nutella spread! I got the eggs royale entree, which was perhaps one of the best eggs benedicts I've had. Great balance of flavors and a huge portion of side potatoes seasoned with paprika that left me very full even with my partner helping. My partner got the chicken and waffle which I also tried. Also a very generous portion, and the waffle was fluffy and buttery and the chicken was nicely moist. We didn't love the apple topping though which we found quite tart. Overall we had a very nice and filling brunch, but between the rather high prices for brunch (and I'm not personally a huge brunch person) and the inability to guarantee seating in the eponymous garden, I'm not sure how soon we'd be back without a gift card. Okay so a few of us from work had been saying "we should go there" for like a month and we finally actually did it. The whole reason was the garden patio and oh my god, yes, absolutely worth it. We picked the right table too, right in the middle of everything. We ordered cocktails, got a bunch of things to share, and just kind of settled in. The scallop and shrimp risotto? My favorite thing we ordered. It sounds like it's going to be super rich and heavy but the pickled vegetables on top balance it out perfectly and I cleared my plate. We also got the biscuits to start and the salted honey butter that comes with them is actually dangerous because you will not stop eating it. We debated ordering another round. The cucumber salad I honestly almost said no to, but it ended up being so refreshing and it went with everything else really well. Glad someone talked me into it. read more

Went here for brunch and got the Vegan Shakshuka, Farmers Market Fresh Vegetable Frittata, and Brioche French Toast Sticks. The food was good- my favorite my was the French Toast Sticks. Food-- biscuits were like 0/10. It was advertised like Red Lobster, on some cheddar bay type of thing. They were extremely hard and were not giving that. Red Lobster should take over in that department!! The shrimp & grits were DELICIOUS --10/10. The dessert was really good, too. The food here was delicious! Got the pesto lemon ricotta appetizer and it was surprisingly warm and delicious Also got the scallop shrimp risotto which was the highlight of tonight! I had plans to kick it in the city on a Saturday evening because I had tickets to a show. So, I decided to make a reservation at Talula's since I heard many great things about it. Man, I'm soooo glad I did. I had a 5:00 pm reservation when the place first opened. My party was seated promptly. We ordered drinks. I had the "Lover" which was a cherry and chocolate manhattan. My partner had the "Woodsman," which was Talula's play in an "old fashioned." For an appetizer we tried the cornbread skillet and the Master Class aka 6 Artesian Cheeses. We absolutely loved the Master Class and the cheeses that were featured. I wish I could remember them all. Some were smokey, silky, creamy, and sweet. The cornbread skillet was tasty as well. For entrees, we chose the Black Angus Strip and the Harvest Season Salmon. Both entrees arrived in a timely fashion. I had the pleasure of experiencing the Black Angus Strip, which included crisp potatoes, black garlic aioli, and pickled shallots. My entree was FANTASTIC!!!! I couldn't finish it, but had no problem finishing it the next day. My partner scarfed down his salmon and said it was delicious. Lovely spot for brunch- the location is nice for a date or friends get together and the food exceeded expectations. The pancakes are massive but I have to say the knockout was the biscuit with this amazing salted honey butter. Some people said they were dry in the reviews but I thought the opposite so wanted to mention. Also the cucumber salad had been recommended a few times and was really light and crisp. We sat outside on the patio under the various heat lamps, nice n toasty. We began with "The Master Class" this is a charcuterie board with six cheeses, nuts, and jam. It was yum yum. Very excellently paired. We all very so happy to have this delightful experience. I split the pear & goat cheese salad and this is something you need to experience. Like the ingredients are paired so well in the salad. My taste bud were living their best life. As a vegetarian I ordered the handmade ricotta ravioli. They added a mushroom gravy which made for a protein addition. The pasta was al debate. Ravioli was covered in Swiss, sage, and breadcrumbs. I felt this was a good size entree. Sensational! Matthew, the server , is GREAT! All the food and drinks were elevated. And the baklava Sundae could cause a riot if they ever ran out of it. Ginger salmon was amazing. All four of us loved every minute of the experience, except that the noise level can be deafening when the room fills up. If they could fix the acoustics, we would rate it as good as any restaurant in the city. Very expensive but well worth it if you can afford it. $390 for four people before tip. read more

We were a big party in town for a business retreat. We shared a few appetizers, including the cheese board, biscuits, and the burrata and tomato salad. All were good, but the biscuits were really a stand out and amazing. For meals I ordered the scallops and shrimp dish while some ordered the chicken, the lamb bolognese, the corvina, and the salmon. All were good but the chicken was wonderful and I wish I had gotten it! By dessert we were so full, but did order the lemon soufflé for us all to have a bite. We went to Talula's Garden to celebrate our anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic. We started with our drinks. I got the froze. It was perfectly refreshing and fruity! We then got the famous cheddar biscuits, and wow... they live up to the hype. I ordered the chicken and gnocchi, which was rich and comforting without feeling too heavy. everything tasted so fresh and tasty. Talula's Garden is probably currently my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia at the moment. My wife and I went here to celebrate our 6-year anniversary, as it's a cute little "date night" spot with both indoor and outdoor seating, and staff went above and beyond to make it truly special. From the moment we sat down, their kindness and attention to detail stood out. They started us off with a delicious sample of their lavash cracker with whipped ricotta, and later surprised us with complimentary mini chocolate chip cookies and glasses of champagne! Our waitress was fantastic! Friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great menu insights. She checked in often and made sure everything was perfect. The Fall-inspired cocktails were delicious and creative, and the food was to die for. I had the seared sea scallops and fresh gulf shrimp over leek risotto. It has been hands down one of the best meals I've had in Philadelphia. Everyone, including our waitress, recommended the cheddar-chive biscuits as an appetizer, so we gave them a try and truly found out what all the hype was about. I had a the pleasure of being in Philadelphia for an only a day and a half and Talula's Garden was one of the top places on my list to go visit. I'm happy to say they did not disappoint! The Ambiance: visually the inside and outside of this restaurant is beautiful. They are two different vibes. The outside was almost whimsical like an elevated fairy garden, especially as the sun starts to set. The inside is also cozy but at the same time modern and intimate. I chose outside because I went early September and the weather was perfect. The Service: my server was incredible. Almost everything I ordered came at his suggestion and he did not steer my wrong! He warned me that portion sizes are a bit larger (I was by myself so this was a very welcome warning) and he helped me pick some of the greatest hits, in his opinion. I always had a drink and he was always nearby if I needed anything. One of the managers stopped by to check in which was a nice touch as well. The Food: the star of the show! Overall, I was incredible impressed with all of the flavors that work harmoniously and the lightness for some of the dishes was astounding. I felt like I was being transported through a wonderful food journey. My favorites included the line caught tuna crudo, steak frites, espresso martini, and warm chocolate pudding cake. What a great dining experience I had here! Recently took a trip to Philly and had the pleasure of being able to dine at Talula's Garden. Firstly, service was amazing. I dined alone and had no issue getting a table to myself. For a weekday, the restaurant was busy which I feel shows how popular this Talula's is. The restaurant overall has a cozy garden feel to it. With the dim lights and the decor, it definitely gives an intimate feeling to your dining experience. The outside of the restaurant looks fantastic as well and if I'm ever able to dine here again, I will definitely be requesting to sit there. Food was amazing! A few years ago, while visiting Center City, Philadelphia, we stumbled upon Talula's Garden. We had no idea of the magic that awaited us, but fast forward a few years, on a return trip to the area, we were sure to make a reservation at Talula's again for our first night in town. Driven by local ingredients Talula's Garden, is a farm to table experience conceived by award winning chef Aimee Olexy. The restaurant is nestled on a beautiful street just across from a park and offers both luxurious inside dining and fairytale-esque garden seating options. We began our meal with a bright and refreshing cocktail, The Sicilian, Talula's Blood-Orange Gimlet, which is made with gin, Italian blood orange, fresh lime and agave. A super delicious start to a yummy meal! Next we delighted in the Thai Cucumber Salad, which was deliciously marinated in a sesame chili vinaigrette and garnished with red onion, mint and crunchy peanuts We selected the Bronzino and Roasted Bone-In Pork Chops for our entrees. The Branzino was beautifully seared, flaky and flavorful. It topped a creamy, lemony, white bean puree and was accompanied by broccoli, baby kale and a spectacular garlic-anchovie-chili vinaigrette. The Smoke Roasted Bone-in Pork Chop was charred in just the right way and remained super juicy and fork tender. It was accompanied by cheddar grits, roasted shishitos, poblanos, red onions and chipotle beurre fondue. The only suggestion would be to assess the grits to pork chop ratio as we felt the portion of grits was quite substantial. Overall Talula's is a fantastic find and will remain on our Philly Food Faves list for all future visits!! I highly recommend trying this magical little haven in the heart of Center City!! read more

This place reminds me of Anthropologie in a restaurant. It was an excellent meal at Talula's Garden. I had the scallop and gulf shrimp risotto for $38. It was creamy and decadent. I've never been to a restaurant where I wanted to order all 5 desserts. I settled on the warm chocolate cake with the peanut butter ice cream. It was so good. My friends ordered the Apple Tartin and the Carrot cake. They both raved at their desserts. Feels like a date place as I felt like I was in my own little rom com. We've been in Philly for a while now and this was our first time checking out Talula's Garden. Upon entering, the ambiance and decor was beautiful with plenty of seating. Server and host were very friendly and accommodating. For our apps, we ordered the hand rolled ricotta gnudi and the hot artichoke dip. Both were amazing and we especially loved the little lemon flavored drops in the ricotta gnudi. We ordered the handmade ricotta mushroom ravioli and the ginger salmon for our entrees. The salmon and accompanying veggies were cooked to perfection and the kennet square mushroom sauce in the ravioli dish was divine. We were so impressed that we made room for dessert even though we were so full already. Both the Meyer lemon soufflé cake and the baklava ice cream were delicious. Worth every bit of the hype! One of the best meals I think I've had in the USA and especially Philly (which says a lot in such a foodie city). Everything was absolutely delicious, from the starters to the entree to the dessert. We started with the meatballs; tomato, burrata & peach salad; and the cheddar chive biscuits. All were so good, especially the biscuits - made to perfection & with an excellent salted butter. For our mains, I got the salmon and my boyfriend got the scallops. That salmon dish is one of the best single dishes I've ever had. The salmon was seared and crispy on the outside while tender on the inside, and while the salmon was made perfectly, the dish was compounded by the accompaniments. The farro, beets, pistachios, and golden raisins made it pack such an incredible flavor, and the dressing they were in was delicious. We finished with the lemon soufflé cake which was AMAZING. As it was my birthday dinner, they also brought a small white cake that was so tasty too. I can't wait to go back and try more things! My friends made a reservation for brunch a few weeks prior. Thankfully we did as it likely got even more popular after Taylor Swift celebrated Mother's day there. We split the pancakes which were excellent. I got the Local brunch, which was basic but done so well that I would get again. The cheesy scrambled fried eggs had the perfect fluffy texture. The potatoes and bacon were divinely crispy and the biscuit was good as well. My husband and friend got the sausage and gravy. Only recommendation is it needed more biscuits to soak up all the sauce. Outdoor dining at Talula's Garden is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Don't get me wrong - the inside of the restaurant is beautiful too but there just was something about dining outside in a scene of greenery. It was peaceful. We arrived pretty early and the host kindly mentioned we could sit at the bar until closer to our reservation time. While we were there, we ordered two frozen rosés. Service at the bar was fast and the bartender was nice. Once we were seated, our waiter came over and he was a pleasure! He provided my friend with an entree recommendation and was great with clearing plates off the table and topping off our glasses of water. I shared the Fresh Baked Cheddar-Chive Biscuits with my friend and they were perfect. Not too dry and the butter on the side with was creamy and melted right onto the biscuit. The House-Perfected Kennebec Potato Frites were ordered for sharing and the best part was the black truffle aioli! I wanted to take it home with me and save it for later. They give you a large portion of it, too. It paired amazingly with the fries. Finally, I went with the Vegan Spring which is basically a zucchini cut as a boat-style and filled with quinoa and a slew of other green veggies. I was full after eating one so I boxed up the rest. To be honest I was a little tapped out on food when we arrived but you take the opportunities as they arise. Grandma is watching the kids all week! Started off with chive cheddar biscuits with butter and honey. A+. I could eat these all day. Main was roasted half chicken in a gravy with crispy gnocchis. This was next level. Perfectly cooked and tender. Gravy was amazing. I was only able to have a few bites of my Thai cucumber salad because I was stuffed. It had a spicy kick to it. Awesome spot for dinner. Didn't know this place's reputation beforehand and found out Taylor and Travis had visited a few months earlier, so I guess that's some validation? Cheddar chive biscuits - get! Warm, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and packed with flavor. Butter was soft and easy to spread. Pork chop - cooked to medium. Huge piece, juicy, easy to cut, great with the sauce. Mashed potatoes were light and just so good. Would love even more shishitos/onions on there since those were roasted/caramelized well too. Chicken & gnocchi - chicken was thicc so I was worried it would be dry, but it was tender and juicy. Brown butter and truffle from the gnocchi and gravy added so much umami. No bones to deal with which greatly reduced barrier to entry. Chocolate pudding cake - perfect conclusion. Peanut butter ice cream was intensely peanut butter. The chocolate cake was moist and dense like a brownie. Crunch from the peanuts and chocolate shell jazzed up the texture. Cocktails - I tried a fall seasonal called The Baker, sort of a spritz with apple/cinnamon spices. Light and sweet, up my alley. The Treehugger was sweet and smokey, also perfect for fall. Pretty large drinks too, NYC cocktail bars would serve like half that. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating; we picked outdoor which thankfully has heat lamps. I loved the plants everywhere and the colorful lighting - felt really whimsical. Tons of space between tables and no crazy loud music. Our server was the best! She was hilarious; she tore a menu in half to make me feel better when I spilled water on one. Would befriend her immediately. $78 after tax/tip, but worth it to me - portions were large and the experience beyond the food was amazing. read more

Had dinner here last night with my hubby and it was excellent! It's the most beautiful, hip, whimsical and hip ambiance, all in one. Our server was Keith, and he was absolutely wonderful. We ordered the manhattan drinks and they were excellent. We started with the ricotta gnudi. They were light, flavorful and just delicious! For my dinner I had the shrimp and scallop risotto, and my husband had the steak with frites. We also had the whipped rosemary potatoes, which were perfection. Both of our meals were incredible! We usually don't order dessert, but we ended up getting the donuts and, wow, they were amazing! Definitely go here! Highly recommend. read more
