We grabbed two seats at the bar and grabbed a cocktail menu. The bartender was very knowledgeable, sharing with us the history of their distillery and their space, and offered drink suggestions. I tried the bourbon, rye, spiced whiskey, slivovitz and blackberry rum. All of the whiskey was good. The slivovitz is a product that I do not see any local distillers ever making. It was nice to see this here. I was introduced to this 20+ years ago while tailgating for Steelers home games. I have to say what they had tasted much better. I ended up leaving with the Spiced Rum, it was good and different than the others. I had a mixed drink as well as my wife and we both enjoyed the drink and the location. They have a stream nearby. The seating is awesome, you can sit outside near the distillery, inside the woods, along the creekside. It's a very cool place and can't wait to go back again. It's worth a tour and…read moretasting even if it's outside of downtown, and you'll likely find a flavour you hadn't had before (like the pickle moonshine...), although some definitely has an amount of sugar that might make a hangover more likely in your future ;) Personally, I always go for the baby barrel whiskey, because of the depth of the taste despite it being quite young. During the tour they showed us how they used to make the barrels by hand, which is quite insane!

There were two bartenders and three other staff members who seemed to be handling seating and samples, along with a runner for food and drinks. Unfortunately, we waited over 25 minutes for a drink, and others who arrived after us were served first. It definitely put a damper on the visit. If I go back, I'll probably stick to just drinks and maybe a couple of apps--but honestly, I think I'll continue going to the original Strip District spot where the energy, service, and overall experience feel more dialed in.
