We go to Recon which is located in the Meeder community. Free parking. Big field outside for kids to run. Phones got charged and I got a green beer. Four of us adults went and there were enough varietals that we each got something different. TVs had sports on and a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating was fully open and though my photos don't show it, people were there throughout the afternoon. I enjoyed it and would return. I stopped here after dinner with a group of friends. It happened to be on a night where the housing development this is in had a large event, so parking was a bit of an issue, but I think on a normal day it likely wouldn't be. Despite a large crowd, we were able to get a nice table outdoors that fit our group. They also had indoor seating, but the inside was smokey. Not cigarette smokey, but food smoke coming from the kitchen. It didn't smell bad or anything, but with my asthma, I was definitely glad I had a place to sit outside because it likely would have started to irritate me. I'm not sure if the inside is always like that or it was just that evening. The menu has many beers, cocktails and other fun options for alcohol in addition to a variety of food items. Our server was friendly and had some suggestions for drinks when one person in our party asked. Drinks (including water) were regularly filled and they were great about our party needing separate checks. Overall, this is a fun place with a great variety on their menu, so you can easily come with someone who doesn't necessarily like or want beer. read more

Been to Recon a few times. Always a fun place to hangout. I've only ever ordered appetizers so I can't speak to their full menu, but the cheese curds and braided pretzel were both tasty. On a Wednesday evening in July, my fiance and I found ourselves in the Cranberry area. We found this place and decided to give it a try, as we had never been before. It is also a non-chain establishment, which is a plus in this area. Recon Brewing is located within the Meeder neighborhood of Cranberry. It almost feels like you are in the wrong spot when initially entering, but eventually you stumble upon the "town square" area with a big lawn, several storefronts, and lots of sidewalks, which make it very easy to walk to. Since this is quite literally in the middle of a neighborhood, there is not a dedicated parking lot. However, there are spaces on the street around the entire area where all of the storefronts are. We had no issue finding a spot on this particular night, but I could see it being slightly more challenging if there is a big crowd eating here. We arrived here a little after 7:30, and it was not busy. Our dog was with us, so we opted for seats on the patio. The wait staff came to greet us right away, and were attentive to us throughout the entire evening. Since this is a brewery, we started off with a few beers. I had To Live & Rye, which is a red/amber rye. I appreciated this as an option, as a lot of places do not carry reds or red-adjacents, especially on tap. I enjoyed it, and it was a great sipper throughout the evening. My fiance ordered the Sour Series - Plum. He thought it was okay, but could have been more sour. Since they brew a lot of their own selections, these seem to rotate and switch out pretty frequently, which is a good way to be able to try lots of different brews. For an appetizer, we split the Cheese Curds. The portion, for the price, is okay. They were tasty, and I liked how you could choose whatever dipping sauce you wanted. We chose ranch, and thought it paired well with the curds. We both ordered 10" Personal Size Pizzas for our entrees, which are cut into 6 pieces. I opted for the Hot Honey, which was more of a white-style pizza with chicken on top and drizzled generously with hot honey. My fiance ordered the Peppers & Sausage, which had red pepper, banana pepper, and chunky pieces of sausage. Both had nice flavors, but we were not particularly wow-ed by either pie. The portion was solid for a personal serving, but if there are multiple people in your party, I would order multiple pizzas. Our total bill came out to be just under $50. I do not think this is unreasonable given that we got 2 beers, an appetizer, and two entrees. I think that in terms of overall value, this is very standard compared to similar restaurants and breweries. I loved the ambiance of Recon! If we lived closer to Cranberry, I could see myself coming here weekly, especially when the weather is warm. The patio lights make it such a cozy and warm atmosphere at night. It was not operating during our visit, but there was also a fire pit. There was a ton of seating here overall - both indoors and out. This would be a great spot to meet a large group of people, or just for a night out for two. There is even bar seating on the interior. I can see this being a great spot for the neighborhood to walk to and enjoy often. In terms of activity, there seems to be a lot going on at Recon. Though not anything specifically during our visit, there was a chalkboard advertising their regular events - DJ Trivia every Tuesday, Karaoke every other Thursday, as well as special events - a Comedy Show, Patio Party with music and vendors, and DJ Bingo. I would love to return for an event in the future! Lastly, I love how nice they were to our dog. He got a giant bowl of water with ice in it! The staff and patrons were friendly and welcoming to both us and him, which is a big plus when we bring him along on outings. There was even a donation box inside benefiting the Butler County Humane Society, so I know the treatment of my dog was not an off-chance occurrence. Overall, I enjoyed my first visit to Recon Brewing at Meeder! This truly is the perfect spot to be able to walk to and socialize with neighbors, grab dinner or a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance that they provide. Plus, there are plenty of events and fun activities that seem to be happening regularly to keep patrons coming back. The staff were all kind, and we enjoyed our food and drinks. I look forward to another chance to be able to enjoy Recon, hopefully partaking in one of their many events. read more

I've been coming to Recon since they opened & I am a Mug Club Member. They have many great beers on tap, BRC is their flagship beer, other taps will vary (IPA, stout, sours, ESB, wheat, ale), depending on the season that you visit. They also have PA wines, Wigle spirits, Boyd & Blair, Surfside cans, growlers to go & some non-alcoholic beer/mocktails. They have special events here such as karaoke night, and trivia night and then a bunch of other smaller events that you can check the website for details about. They have a nice little patio that is dog friendly outside. They also have music some evenings. They have stepped up their game in the past three years with their menu and it changes seasonally. My go to is their buffalo chicken flatbread on the cauliflower crust. Parking is free, it's located in the Meeder neighborhood. Shout out to Hailey, Kayla, Kristen, Renee & Deanna. read more

I stopped by here this past Friday with a former coworker for some afternoon drinks. Today was actually the third time that I had been to Recon Brewing at Meeder and for some reason I hadn't written a review yet. As its name states it's located inside the Meeder Development right near 19 in Cranberry. This location is actually quite big and had both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a large bar. There are TVs around and on this day golf was on them. As I often do whenever I visit a brewery, I decided on a flight this day. Flights at Recon Brewing consist of 4 pours and so I chose the OK 2 Talk, Meeder, More than Words and Sip Sip Sahooty. First up was the Ok 2 Talk stout which was on the Karma Tap, whatever that means. This beer was pretty good and it was nice and clean at the start before those dark smokey malts came in which lasted through the finish. Up second was the Meeder which was an Irish Red Ale. The beer starts off with a bit of caramel flavor before moving into some hoppy bitterness at the finish. It's not the overpowering hop of an IPA and more akin to an ESB. Third was the More than words which was a hazy New England IPA. The hops were there from start to finish with some citrusy flavors in the middle. Last but certainly not least was the Sip Sip Sahooty which was a Hazy New England Imperial IPA. Like the other IPA it starts off with a strong hop flavor before some citrus adds in. Honestly I didn't like the flavor of it as it was over the top and just not pleasant to my palate. Out of the bunch I think I liked the OK 2 Talk and then the Meeder the best. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Obviously I already have as I do enjoy both their beer as well as the location/setup. read more

This is a review for the food, not the drinks, so have that in mind! The events, atmosphere, outdoor area is nice especially for being local and close by. However, I personally wouldn't pick this place to go for food, as most of it is pre-made, pre-cooked chicken, etc type food. The service isn't super friendly when i've gone. (For example, I ordered something without olives. The waitress gave me it with olives, unfortunately couldn't eat my meal even though I tried. When I told her she didn't offer to exchange or comp the meal, and still added it to the bill. I went up and later asked if she could take it off, which she did in the end) If they could redo their menu adding more fresh whole options, add some more lively music, just make it over all a brighter friendly fresher place.. I'd be eating here every day! I'd just love to see it upgraded as it could be such a great place. read more

I went to Recon Brewing recently and loved the beer I had! I tried the 200 Carrot beer and it was super unique with a fantastic base taste to the beer. My Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich was very solid, the chicken was just a little chewy but still quite tasty. Finally, the nachos (pictured below) tasted fine but were very basic with only cheese and jalapeños on top of them. They tasted like cheaper store-bought chips so the price was a little much for them in my opinion. That is the only thing that truly knocked down my rating but I enjoyed my experience, the ambiance was very cool, and staff was very friendly! My wife and I try to eat here once per week. She works nearby and it's always a great spot to stop in. I'm envious of the people who live in the community! The food is really good. I LOVE their flatbreads. But the wraps are good too! They have some great go-to beers always on tap. I like their amber lager. The service? Always always good. Never an issue. So this review is based solely off the space, staff and beer. I did not try the food, but it looked good. I'm loving that Cranberry finally has a brewery in town. The space is very nice. My only complaint is that it is really, really loud inside. My buddy and I almost had to yell to talk to each other. My suggestion would be some sound dampening panels. The staff seemed really nice, decent bar food menu, interesting assortment of drafts. Although I've lived in The area for 20 years, I've never tried any Recon brews. Tonight I ordered two of their New England IPA's. Both were decent, not incredible, but decent. Next time I will definitely eat there. Keep up the good work, can't wait to sit outside enjoying some drafts close to home. read more

Recon is a neat space in a mixed use housing/commercial plan. The plan is still under construction but I do wonder if there's going to be issues with parking on busy nights. The beer was good and they also have cocktails for the non-beer drinkers. We split a flatbread, which was tasty. Service was great as well and the owner (or manager?) was regularly walking around and chatting with patrons. Also like that they have live music and the ability to open up the indoor space for a cool indoor/outdoor vibe. Definitely a great addition to the Cranberry Township area! read more

She had me taste several of the current offerings and we were able to hone in on a few select beers that I really liked. Food offerings are limited. I enjoyed a Spicy Italian flatbread. Fairly good. Tried them again and wow! Service (by Ana) was wonderful. Very attentive. Knowledgeable about the offerings both food & drink. The variety on the menu has increased. Tried the warm soft pretzel, cheese nachos (added chicken) that reminded us of all the baseball games we wished we could of gone to during pandemic, yummy crab cakes that tasted like Real crab meat! & a mixed green house salad. Everything was tasty & hit the spot. The music playing was not overbearingly loud. We went early (before 5) and had our pick of tables. They had a great option to purchase and have a growler filled to take home of your favorite brew. And it's refillable. Glad we gave it another chance. The "neighborhood bar" vibe makes you feel like a place where you want to become a regular; and the beer variety allows you a beautiful excuse to keep coming back. Anna was our server and she bubbled with energy, smiles, and a low-pressure/ highly attentive attitude. My choices were the Farmhouse Ale (a subtle floral note) and the Leatherhead Lager (solid body and taste). Shared a custom flatbread that showed up before I even finished half of my pint. The menu is very small. The sandwich's don't come with fries. All they offer is chips. The place is noisy. I can't imagine how noisy it would be with live music.
