Big props to Dr Jessica Sunny and staff at Bastrop Family Eye care! I was having blurred vision and Dr Sunny and her staff took numerous images of my eye repeatedly to find an issue that could have resulted in permanent damage to my eye. Her staff then contacted a retina specialist and got me an appointment for the next day. Today, I had a laser surgery and my eye has been repaired! I've been coming here for years. Apparently they got bought by a "corporate " group and things have changed some. Their computer system was a big change. I booked and appointment via phone (with the new system), showed up for my appointment and they told me it had been cancelled. They got me seen however, my 9am appointment took me over 2 hours to get done. The staff have always been pleasant. Their exam room chairs need repair. As there are many rips in multiple chairs and there are stains on some seats. They just need a bit of upgrading. Maybe with a corporate group buying them they can get this done. read more

Dr. Ngo was thorough, gentle, and informative in a way I could easily understand and appreciate. My experience with the exam and fitting was good. My glasses came and we're fine, but immediately I started noticing scratches. After a few months, there were not only some deeper scratches, but the entire lenses were covered with fine scratches. Fortunately, I bought the scratch insurance so was able to order replacements. The new lenses performed exactly as the first ones - soon covered with scratches. I have worn glasses for over 60 years and have never had any of my glasses scratch like this, nor have I changed my cleaning routine. The office admitted that they had been having problems with their lab, but they said their corporate office now requires they use only that one lab, so they are no longer able to choose a better one. They had the nerve to ask me to call their corporate office and ask them to let the Bastrop office choose different labs. I'm sorry, but that's your job. My job now is to find a different provider. read more

My appointment was at 220, it's now 315 and I still haven't been called back. My husband came this morning and it took over 30 min for him to be seen too. Transition lenses are $75 even with insurance. $95 for blue light and anti glare coating...so expensive. Don't schedule an appointment here unless you have a lot of time to waste. Bring a book or something to read while you wait. read more

I have been coming to this office for three years and I don't understand the negative reviews. Staff is very nice and helpful as is Dr Solly. A few times my appointment has not been exactly on time with a few minutes wait but then there have been times when my family takes longer than the appointment time we had and we've never felt rushed. My parents are elderly and sometimes aren't as fast as other may like but the staff and Dr never make them feel like it's a problem. Obviously others don't seem to have that compassion read more

Absolutely horrible!! The service is beyond pathetic They ordered the wrong lenses and attempted to say they didn't until we provided prof and witnesses. Then forgot to place the correct order. Spent almost 900.00 and can't get it correct. And to have deplorable service on top of it. I will be telling everyone I know DO NOT GO HERE!!! Customer service and optician department is TERRIBLE! I paid over $550 on January 6 for my prescription sunglasses. I dropped by multiple times and made many phone calls to try to find the status of my sunglasses that were supposed to arrive in 7-10 business days. Neither optician ever followed up with the company or gave me any specifics as to why they were not there. I also had problems getting my glasses adjusted and afterwards, the nose piece fell off. I finally went to the manager. She gave me the excuse that they were short staffed, and they don't return phone calls. I made it very clear that after that many attempts (at least 6 in person or phone call), someone should get back with me, and this was not good customer service. I did get a printout if my prescription and will NEVER GO BACK. read more

Today, August 2nd, 2021, my wife and I (both of us are elderly) had appointments for 2:20 and 2:40, respectively. When we walked in, we signed in and the receptionist asked me if I had a mask. I informed her I cannot safely wear a mask (due to chronic respiratory medical issues for which I take frequent daily treatments). She pointed to a little blue sign on her desk which said "Masks Required". I again explained I cannot SAFELY wear a mask, so "may I see a copy of your Mask Policy with the exemptions". She told me she didn't have one and again pointed to the little sign and told me the doctor will not see me without a mask, thereby cancelling my 2:40pm appointment which I had made in good faith a week before (...as my wife and I had been seen there last year and bought our eyeglasses there as well.). I promptly went to another optometrist nearby and made an appointment. read more

So been going here for a couple years. I have no complaints with eye doctor or young gals monitoring the eye tests. In fact just had a detached retina and the doc got me to a specialist right away. In the past I always take my new prescription and bought my glasses at Costco. Last appointment I went a head and ordered a pair of glasses with the office. First time ever. I paid more for sure. But I was going out of state and felt it would save me time. So today I called to ask about if they were in. First girl put me on hold and came back and said it would be another 3 days before they were back. I replied well that is not what I was told initially. She put me on hold again and someone else came on the line. Said they had them and they were looking them over. Wow, they magically appeared! So I went right away to pick them up. Within 15 min. I put them on asked for the usual read card that is usually provided for you to check close up reading. She said they don't have those, use your iPhone to read. Well, odd I thought. I tried that and felt like they were a little off. She adjusted but said we usually recommend you wear them and come back for adjustment if need be. I said...well what if I lived 30 miles away? I would not be a happy camper to have to drive back. She was quite rude in her manner of speaking. Older lady this time. So I took them and been wearing for a couple hrs. I have to go back for adjustment again. Dreading it! I would say not the stock of selection of glasses on hand to choose from if you like something different. Also, yes the waiting room is a bit dismal too. I may have to change on my next eye exam. This customer service left a bad taste for me. I got more hands on care with how the glasses should sit on face and ears than here that is is for sure. read more

The staff here are very friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I have been pleased with the service and the glasses I get there. It just took me awhile to get used to their particular office hours. I had mad an appoint and showed up 39 minutes early. The office was closed in Bastrop and my appointment was at 9:45 am. Finally, at 10:00 am the staff showed up and told me my appointment was in LaGrange, which I made in person 45 days prior since my husband was seen there. The staff was rude and did not try to help reschedule or fix the issue. When leaving another customer was treated with disrespect and she loudly told everyone in the establishment that they are inconsiderate, rude, and would not return. read more

Okay, first of all, the front of the office needs sprucing up. The chairs were peeling and wobblythe receptionist is very rude. My son and i went in for an appt and i greeted her because she didnt and she pointed to the check in kiosk. It went on after that. The rest of the appt went fine and they were friendly and polite. I was done and they sent me to the glasses portion. I asked what exactly does my insurance cover and what is my allowance, she teponded by saying that i was going to pay anyway. Long story short, she finally says its 130 allowance. There were only one pair of sunglasses that were right on the money or below. I finally got frustrated and told them that i would be back. I wont. They need to go to customer service training. All of them. As many eye places as there is, i refuse to go to this one. If you want my business, then earn it and get rid of your receptionist. read more

How can you close your business down entirely for lunch? I show up and there is a sign on the door "Closed for lunch from 1:45-2:45" and as I am typing this another customer walked up and saw the sign and walked away. 3 employees walk out for lunch at the same time...how about doing what most companies do and stagger your lunches so that you can keep the business open and making money! Not what I expected from a newer business, was hoping for more! Will have to see who else can help and take my money there. read more

Unfortunately I had to choose 1 star since -1 star was not an option. If you would like the aggravation of no returned calls after leaving countless messages then these are the folks for you. I went to my appointment on 2/12 for an eye exam for contact lens. They gave me a prescription that was not correct and was told to give it time and they should be fine. On the 16th I called to have them change it back to my original prescription and was told that I would get a call back from the doctor no later than the following day. the call from the doctor never happened and as a matter of fact today is the 19th and the doctor still has yet to call me. I had to call them once again before they close to see what the hell is going on only to find out they left another pair of trial lens at the counter for me. I will be going to another eye doctor now and spending the more money to get the correct prescription for contact lens since these people cannot seem to. I guess that if cannot seem to figure out how to use a phone for outgoing calls, how could they ever figure out how to use the equipment it takes to determine an individuals level of vision. read more

I had an appointment today at no time during scheduling was I told to wear a specific type of mask, nor that I would be required to use antibacterial hand sanitizer containing alcohol bc of the doctor's fear of VIRAL COVID 19. After complying with all their rules and being charged, the optometrist refused to do my eye exam because I'm a smoker and MIGHT cough through the mask I'm being required to wear. This is after air was blown into my eyes, which causes thr sniffles. She asked if I can guarantee I won't cough or sneeze on her. Nobody can guarantee anything in life and I told her that and that I have a mild smoker's cough. She ran into her office, closed the door, but continued to crack the door to make additional comments telling me to leave and that I was never welcome in the office again. I told her I was waiting for my refund. I guess she expected to keep my money without providing a service. No. Charges still weren't reversed so I'll have to dispute it with my credit card company. This "doctor" is so crazy she has no business in medicine or anything dealing with people. So if you have any type of respiratory problems, illness, or issues breathing, don't bother trying to get an eye exam here. You're not welcome and won't be helped by the paranoid, neurotic "doctor" who doesn't feel like working. read more

This place has to have one of the most inept office staff in the Bastrop area. They simply cannot figure out how to bill insurance. The insurance company has even given recommendations on how the services should be billed so that Dr. Solly could be paid. This is to no avail. The insurance company relates that the TSO office is trying to bill under the name of Dr. Bastrop rather than Dr. Solly. This has been going on for months. Total frustration! read more
