I have wondered if two stars is too high. The staff was extremely friendly so that is the only reason I am giving it two. The course should be shut down. I get it is January and the grass would be dormient. That does not explain the "moon scape" of the fairways. Huge potholes everywhere. The tee boxes are so hard you can't get tees in them. Then there are the tee boxes that have backhoe damage on them. Why is a backhoe on a tee box? Then the greens are a joke. The sand traps have rocks in them. If I had paid $15 maybe it would be ok. That is a huge maybe. My husband and I play golf a lot all over the world. This is the worst course conditions we have ever had. It may have been better not to play golf? We looked on line and saw they had some tee times the day of so that is why we went. The price on line was $38. We drove there and to book there on sight was $45. The day wasn't great as well as the pace of play was so so so slow. We had a four some of ladies playing best ball. Two of the four couldn't hit the ball more than four feet or swang and miss. I am all for newbies. Especially ladies. However, you got to be smart about it. It wouldn't have been difficult to let us play through either as we were usually at the tee box with them. Thankfully, they stopped at the turn and only played nine and that is when we found out it really didn't matter because they had a foursome in front of them that was drunk and as bad at golf as the ladies with mouths of sailors. We got so fed-up we drove through on hole 13. I don't know if I have seen people so drunk on a golf course in a while. I do blame the lady at the front. It was clear she knew them. We were a twosome. We knew it was going to be slow, but we could have also gone off before them. When we drove through the last foursome, we didn't have anyone in front of us the rest of the round no matter how fast we went. We play fast. Additionally, on the front nine we had the two some behind us drive into us three times. It is so unacceptable. We were stuck between a slow foursome and a fast twosome. The last time he hit into us I drove back to him and said please go in front of us and see what we are dealing with. I wish I could say it was one guy. We got hit into again on the back nine by another player. Unreal! It sort of speaks to the type of players on this course. Newbies, that drink while they play and don't get the unspoken rules of golf. Do note there is no attire restrictions on this course. Overall, a bad day on a golf course is a better than a day at work but this wasn't really golf. This was hitting a white ball in the hill country. Save your money and time and go elsewhere. We had played here before, so we know it wasn't this bad the last time we played here. Hard to say is it going down or is it on its way up. Along the river you can see they are doing some work, but we will not be back. Not for the condition of the course.

The greens were in good shape but some of the teeboxes needed a little work. Immediate suggestion... Mow down all of the tall grasses that line or cross some of the fairways. The course is surrounded by trees and has a really cool vibe to it. Greens had a couple rough spots, but that's pretty expected for Texas in the summer. Pro shop staff and starter were both friendly, pace of play was smooth, and the GPS/Bluetooth carts were a really nice touch. The pro shop also had a great selection of merchandise. My only small note would be that I didn't really have any interaction with the outside staff before or after the round, and after finishing I was actually ready to tip but didn't see anyone around. Overall though, definitely a course I'm coming back to play.

Do not join here as a tennis member.  Recently, the new ownership group Arcis and the head "tennis…read morepro" Kelly Marshall decided to ruin the tennis courts by painting a million lines everywhere.  The tennis courts are an absolute mess.  Even though members voiced their opposition to pickle ball taking over the tennis courts, our voices were ignored.  Onion Creek went ahead with trying to accommodate "all racquet sports" by littering the courts with pickle ball equipment and the final straw - adding permanent pickle ball lines to the tennis courts.  Tennis players are not respected here.  I'm playing at Grey Rock from now on.

I almost don't even want to write a review, hidden gem with super reasonable prices for a golf…read moresimulator. The owner Ed is a super nice and accommodating guy. Weekdays are $25 an hour per person, basically a small premium to hitting a driving range with very accurate technology on distances and spins. It's also nice to be given metrics on contact angles to help with adjusting the game if you're looking yo fine tune stuff. They have thousands of courses to choose from and honestly can play 18 in less than an hour if playing at a reasonable pace. The putting action is also pretty decent which I found tough at other simulators. They aldo have additional stuff as well including a full bar with bar food, a ping pong table, and putting green area. Love supporting local businesses who also don't price like a Top Golf! This will be a regular spot to fine tune my game and stay out of the heat.

Kizer is a challenging yet a forgiving course for a muni. Many of the ponds currently don't have…read morewater so balls are easy to find. The greens currently have some weeds which should burn off soon in the heat so they play a little slow. The driving range is large and one can use any club. The putting area is a good size as well. So, if you set your expectations accordingly you will have a great experience. If you want a challenge play from the back tees. Water comes into play on a few holes and when the wind is howling like it was when I played this past Saturday course management is key. There are a grass driving range and a putting and chipping area. There is a beverage cart but due to Covid, there are no water stations on the course. Green fees are reasonable and there is a resident rate as well as some monthly and yearly sign up options. There are three must play Muni courses in Austin (IMO) Kizer, Clay, and Lions. If you have not played all three well then get your hack butts out there and swing baby!
