I lost $40 in rewards and nearly lost my apartment-and Bath & Body Works did nothing. I'm beyond disappointed with the treatment I received at the Bath & Body Works in Glendale Heights, IL, especially from one of the shift managers, Erin. $40 in rewards were used without my permission-not by me--by one of the associates processing my purchase--and when I brought it to Erin's attention, she refused to help. She told me to call customer service. I did. I was on the phone for over an hour. They promised to follow up by email. I never heard back. My $40 was entirely gone. Then, a candle I purchased from Bath & Body Works exploded and nearly set my apartment on fire. Flames came from the outside of the candle & entirely caught fire to the entire wrapping & engulfed the entire product. I am lucky I caught it in time. I brought it back to the same store, upset, shaken, and concerned. Erin laughed in my face. She showed zero concern for the safety hazard and refused to exchange the candle. Again, she told me to "just call customer service." I explained I already had-and they didn't help. I asked if she, as a manager, had any authority to do something. She laughed again and said she didn't, & to call customer service. This is not just bad customer service-it's dangerous negligence. I've lost money, time, and trust. And I'm speaking up so others are aware. Bath & Body Works: do better. Your customers deserve to feel safe and respected. I will never be shopping at Bath & Body Works again & will be sharing this experience with everyone I know to warn others. read more

Will never step foot in this location again. I was 5th in line with ONE register open. 2 sales people on the floor and 2 behind the counter literally just refilling bags. After 8 minutes in line I ask if they could open another register. There were now 6 more people behind me. She rudely said yep when she's finished doing what she is. 7 more minutes, SEVEN minutes she continues just stocking bags with a line of probably now 12 people! This is not the first time either they just have 1 register open, a huge line and associates standing around. Terrible management!!!!! read more

Tried to exchange a body spray that had a defective spray mechanism. It was over a year old as I buy their products in bulk when things are on sale. The spray I was returning was an upgraded Gingham as it had glitter in it. I didn't care if I had a bottle with glitter or not. I just wanted the scent so I chose the standard and the manager Erin, insisted that I pay $4 more as when I bought the bottle, it was cheaper. Way to keep your customer's happy Erin. Let's forget that your product was dysfunctional and I had to drive 5 miles to replace it with a down graded version. Bad customer service! read more

Bath & Body Works isn't really my thing. I don't like walking around smelling like a "baby prostitute" as Janis from Mean Girls so eloquently put it. I don't mind receiving their products as presents for at home use and they do have some great stocking stuffer deals, but mostly I shy away from these overpriced scent factories. That is, until I'm sick. When I was in college I received a bottle of their Stress Relief - Eucalyptus Spearmint Aromatherapy Body Wash & Foam Bath for Christmas and fell in love. I wouldn't have dreamed of using the stuff before I moved away from home. My mother is highly allergic to perfumes and she's deathly allergic to eucalyptus. The stuff's been a bit like a forbidden fruit for me. I love the smell and it's not unusual for me to go through at least half a bottle of bubble bath every time I get a fever and feel stuffed up. I came to this Bath & Body Works to purchase a bottle when I came down with a horrible case of acute bronchitis. Nothing 'cute about it. It was hell on earth and ravaged my lungs. The only thing that made me feel better was taking at least 5 scalding hot showers and a bath daily. Naturally, I was putting much more than the recommended dosage of Stress Relief in the water and it made me feel better briefly. The employees kinda bum rushed me when I entered, but it was a little harder getting help once I was actually browsing. I couldn't find what I was looking for immediately because the scent was hiding around a corner. The salesperson who pointed me to the Eucalyptus Spearmint kind of treated me like I was oblivious for not finding it, but the cashier was wonderful. I even ended up with more bottles than I needed, so I went to return one and was given a bit of a hard time because it had a seal on the cap. Apparently, they only seal the caps of bottles ordered online, so there was a question of whether I had bought it in-store or online. I had the bottle with the same SKU and a receipt, so I don't know what the big deal was. I'll be coming back here for more of the Stress Relief when I need more, but I can't say as I'll go out of my way. It's a very specific product and all the other things (lotion, hand foam) I can get at Target for much cheaper. read more

This is still one of my favorite Bath & Body Works. It is clean, well stocked and rarely crowded! This standalone location is a nice alternative to dealing with the mall crowd. They still have the $3 anti-bacterial hand soap deal going on, plus their 75% off selected items. The first thing I do is grab the handy in store shopping bag located at the front of the store and head over to the hand soap section. It's always a debate between the deep cleansing and the gentle foaming kind. I can't decide which I like better and usually get both. Some of the scents I've tried and liked include: wild honeysuckle, rainkissed leaves, and japanese cherry blossom.This is a great time to stock up on hand soaps, bath gels, lotions and even air fresheners. They also sell great stocking stuffers like car air fresheners, travel size lotions, hand sanitizers, lip gloss and even holiday socks. If you sign up for their mailing list, they'll send you coupons that you can use in conjunction with the sale. You can get a pretty good deal when combining the sale items with a $10 off on a purchase of $30 coupon. Currently, there's construction going on in front of Walmart so it's a bit congested if you are coming from that direction. read more

I stopped by here the day before Valentine's Day to buy a few gifts for my boyfriend, as well as to find a new body splash for myself. Joanna helped me find a new fragrance for myself and was very patient as I smelled absolutely everything in the store. The store was nice and organized although some of the shelves looked a little empty (which is understandable the day before V-Day). The displays close to the checkout line were well stocked and checkout was quick. read more

Terrible Customer Service. My mother in law shops here several times a year & spends a few thousand dollars, easily. Today she wanted to buy the Euciliptus mint candle but the terrible sales girl behind the counter refused to sell the candle top with the candle. Stating that this candle doesn't come with a lid but there were 50 candles on display with lids. Another sales person said to just give her the lid but she refused. just reread my last review & realized the deal i got this isn't as good as a few years ago but hey, inflation right? I got more foam soaps for my mom for christmas. i appreciate the holiday scents but really like the regular scents better. they had less of a selection of those but i was still able to pick some for her. they let me use like 3 coupons in my transaction so i got so much for the $21 i spent there! woooo hoooo!! read more

Went here at 10:30 this morning and the doors were locked and the lights were on. No sign of life. Called the nearby store in the mall and they said this store should have opened at 10. I left and came back about 45 minutes later and it was still locked up. Called at 12, (I wanted that stuff on sale dammit!), an employee answered the phone and said they were opening at 12:30. I told her I had been there earlier but the doors were locked. I got no apology. I was told that the computers were not working correctly so she couldn't open. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but a sign on the front door saying that they were opening late or not at all would have been helpful and no computer is required for that. read more

She actually did finally talk to me when my mom came in. Why? Because she had a huge Louis Vuitton purse? Sorry my Gucci crossbody & workout clothes are unacceptable lol. She also didn't give me the coupon at checkout that was being given to everyone else. I didn't bother saying anything since I had no plans to return. This Bath & Body Works is one of the larger stand-alone stores in the area (Woodfield and Oakbrook would be the largest that are inside of a mall). I've come here when I didn't want to deal with the malls (being Stratford, Yorktown, Oakbrook or Woodfield). They have all of the same selections as the other stores but I think maybe they have more candles...not more scents just a larger quantity overall. I do have to say, I was here right around Christmas and the place was BARE. It was as though they were having a store-closing sale, it was nuts and a bit depressing. Also, there have been many times I've tried going here later on a weekend night (8 pm on Saturday for example) and the store has been closed. Seems their hours are a bit limited. read more

I have been a loyal B&BW customer for just over 20 years now. Unfortunately for this store location, it reigns as #1 in poor customer service. Every single time I've been in this store, I've received or witnessed unfavorable performance, always in the form of rude employees with unpleasant facial expressions or juvenile attitude. Disappointed customers should not be met with defensive comments and condescending glares. One time, a woman in front of me in line overheard the cashier tell the woman in front of her about an upcoming promotion but when she was not offered the same, the cashier was clearly annoyed when the woman asked about it. I don't know if it was because she was of a minority race. ? Hopefully not. Yesterday, I asked if there were any more of a particular hand soap but was told it was no longer available and probably would not be as it is seasonal. Understandable... but when I let her know there was a sample left out by the sink (which obviously led me to believe they sold this item) she letout a big sigh and sharply repeated, "Well we're sold out!" She did not even offer to call another store for me or suggest that I try online which is what EVERY other location does. VERY disappointing. Afterwards, I checked the location in Stratford Square Mall across the street and, as usual, was met with a completely opposite experience...I've always noticed the employees in the mall location are always very kind and willing to satisfy a customer. That was my last visit to the Army Trail Rd location. What a shame as I so like the fact that you don't have to walk past other stores to get here as you do in the mall. If customer service is not a priority and you just need to quickly purchase a product, maybe this won't be an issue for you but if you prefer quality customer service and a pleasant shopping experience, a quick run across the street to Stratford Square location is completely worth having to walk a little farther from your parking space. read more

I shop this particular store four or five times a year for birthday and Christmas gifts and, of course, "gifts" for myself. Some of the staff recognize me and my girls when we come in and they are quick to greet us. They are helpful without trailing me through the store. If I have a question, someone is always close by and able to help. If they see me looking at a new fragrance or product, they offer me a sample. If they see me juggling a few items, the offer me a bag. They are helpful without being pushy or overbearing. At the register, they are very helpful, especially when I have multiple coupons. They make sure I get the most "bang for my buck," even if they have to ring multiple transactions. They are equally as nice to my daughters when they are doing their own shopping and spending their own money. I love the body lotions, shower gels, and body scrubs! I don't really have a favorite scent...it depends on the season and my mood. I also make sure I have a supply of seasonal candles, especially the balsam pine at Christmas-time. The packaging on all the products is pretty; I'm sure I buy more than I really need because of it. The store is clean, bright, and well-light. It's easy to get around the store to browse (except when it's super busy). The displays are set up nicely and samples are always available to try. I love the location -- especially because I don't have to go to a huge mall when I just want to visit Bath & Body Works. read more

Went into this location for the 8.95 candle sale and it was completely swamped. Despite the chaos, all the sales girls I interacted with before getting in line were very lovely and helpful, but that's not the reason for this low review. While standing in line, after about 25 minutes, a man from the couple in front of me stepped out of line to smell one of the nearby candles. He walked back to his girlfriend only to be confronted by a blonde sales associate. She accused him of cutting in line. His girlfriend said, oh he's with me, and myself and another woman in front of me assured her that he had been there the whole time. The man himself very politely said that he had just stepped out to smell a product. But... the associate didn't let up. She insisted that the lines were out the door and implied that both the man and the woman had jumped the line. Now, myself and the others around me were backing up the couple, we had all been waiting for quite a while and holding heavy candle crates, but she was relentless. She continued the allude to the couple being line jumpers and having to go to the back of the line which was out the door. The woman made a snide, though not unwarranted, comment about maybe if they had better crowd management there wouldn't be so much confusion (they were feeding one line into three registers and the other one, which we were in, into only one). The associate told her that's exactly how it should be and that the woman needed to stay in line and basically stay quiet or she would be kicked out. The woman, upset and reasonably so, said she would cause a scene if that happened. Now, did this comment need to be said, no, but the associate had come out of nowhere, falsely accused someone of cutting, and despite the insistence of EVERYONE around her continued to berate her. The associate picked a fight, was wrong, and instead of apologizing for her mistake continued to confront a customer who did nothing wrong. After the woman's last comment the associate said if she did anything she would call the cops and have her escorted out! Talk about a power trip. All of this over a misunderstanding and a busy candle day. Women like that associate should not work retail. She was rude, argumentative and aggressive for NO reason. I felt bad for the couple, they were being targeting falsely. Honestly, one of the worst experiences I have ever had waiting in line, and I wasn't even the one getting attacked. read more
