I tried to reschedule an appointment due to my MIL being admitted into the hospital on Christmas Day ( my appointment was on the 26th) and after multiple phone calls on the day of my appointment they were not answering. If you book a massage here and do not bring cash for a tip, they will MAKE you pay a 20% "tip" as a surcharge to use your credit card! Bogus! There's no sign that explains this policy. You are not told when you book the massage... So be aware - it might not be a big deal to some, if you had a good treatment... I must be honest and say that I am not usually one to get on here and write a review whether I have had a good or bad experience. But I feel it is necessary that I warn people out there not to waste their money at this place. It was truly one of the worst spa experiences I have ever had. Besides the tiny and gross looking towels, and the small locker room where I had to literally climb over naked women just to get to the other side so I could change... the baths were so crowded I could barely find a place to sit comfortably. Plus one of the baths was shut down because someone broke a glass in it. There were dirty towels laying around everywhere, and no one seemed to be tidying up or paying mind to people using skin care products inside the facilities. The dry sauna was unbearable to sit in and the "hot tub" was room temperature at best. After only about 30 minutes I was so ready to leave, but had scheduled an appointment for a facial so I decided to stay. When it finally came time, the woman was 10 minutes late to pick me up for my appointment. She then informed me that there were no extractions included in my treatment (why would I book a facial without extractions? what is the point of that?). The facial was mediocre at best and I don't understand why they are blasting music inside the room. Overall, this experience was anything but relaxing. My friends and I made our reservations arrived, had dinner which was great then proceeded to shvitz. While in the sauna I noticed there was a guy in the cold pool just sitting there. My friend tried walking in the cold pool and turned back. I noticed others do the same. I said to her it's better that you sit and dunk. That's how we do it at Russian bathhouses. So she did. It totally worked out except for the guy that was there annoyed that there was some splashing. I did the same. He was indignant. He was bothered by anyone that wanted to use that pool. He proceeded to complain about us. 5 black women minding their business to which the person approached us to tell us we need to stop splashing. We as a group were sitting having a conversation. That person in the cold pool had the power to have us women all over 40 to have to explain ourselves and told we will be asked to leave. The experience was embarrassing to say the least. It felt it was not a place for us. I love going to a Bathhouse just not one where we are not welcomed and targeted. The place is small and not much to do. I booked my appointment via website due to capacity & chose to get my treatment done by whomever. I was very very happy with my end results. Maria really got into those back knots! While working from home durning this pandemic it has taken a toll on me and I didn't know how bad I was until last night. The space is small and intimate, there are three pools all set at different temperatures, warm, hot, cold. And the treatment rooms are not that far from the pools. I really didn't keep count of how many sauna rooms there were but I believe I got in all. Like other reviewers have mentioned regarding noise, yes you will be able to hear the noise on the other side of the door. But honestly with your mind/body relaxed and the soothing music, you'll be fine. With a booked treatment you'll be able to enjoy the amenities for a full two hours after or before (if arrived early) your treatment. I love love love that you are given water bottles at the front desk upon entering, and it's free as well as no limit? So generous. Def recommend this spa. read more

This place was pretty cool overall. The entrance immediately gave calming vibes and I was very excited to see what was inside. You go through the bathroom/locker room and take off your street clothes to change into your bathing suit. Then, you grab a towel (or two) and put on some waterproof slippers that were very comfy. The bathroom exit leads to a stairwell that goes downstairs to all of the rooms and pools. The first pool you see is 94 degrees, a nice beginning temperature. The middle one is 52 degrees (we did that one very quickly in and out haha) and the final one is set at 104. The other attractions you get with the day pass include 3 rooms, one steam room, one dry sauna and one tropical sauna. The steam room was somewhat hard for me to breathe in but it looked very relaxing for others. The dry and tropical saunas were really nice. Also, the marble benches right next to the pools were lightly heated so they were very nice to lay on. My boyfriend snd I didn't do any extra treatments so I can't speak for the massages or anything else but we had a great and relaxing time. Only wish it was a bit bigger but we showed up at 9:20 am so we didn't experience any of the overcrowding other reviews complained about. If I could give Bathhouse 6 stars I would!! I wanted to treat myself, so I booked a 1 hour massage, tried a few incredible cocktails, and even got to participate in this super relaxing sauna ritual. Randy, the masseuse there, was very nice and gave me the best massage I've ever experienced and did a great job focusing on the pain points I had explained to him previously. Bathhouse needs to actually listen to their negative reviews and limit the number of people in the space. I get that $45 day passes are lucrative, but you are selling far too many of them. Nothing about this experience outside of the massage (which was great) was relaxing. I had a few pleasant moments in the pools and sauna when I arrived before my 10 AM appointment, but was absolutely shocked to walk out 50 minutes later and find a pool scene that was a few red solo cups and DJ away from being a tacky Las Vegas pool party. 15+ people shoulder to shoulder in the small med-temperature pool, with tons more hanging out around the edges and packed into the steam room. I immediately went upstairs to change - everything was covered in water or used towels and honestly felt really unsanitary. I don't want to even think about what the pool looked like with that many people crammed in after sweating in the sauna. Imagine my surprise to walk into the locker room and find it even more packed with women about to head downstairs to the pools. Where they fit, I genuinely don't know. I proceeded to shower and dry my hair with the single sad $25 Revlon hair dryer provided (l o l) while trying to keep myself covered with the two thin minuscule towels they gave me (a well-stocked spa bathroom this is not). Top that off with staff not being particularly invested in guest experience, and I will never be going back. $160+ plus tip for a massage that was less than a hour and not being able to use the rest of the amenities because of the sheer number of people is just gross. read more

Came here on a Friday night with my husband and we were surprised to see how packed it was. There are 3 small pools that get full pretty fast. Also the noise level was very loud and treatment rooms are right next to the pools. We got massages that were very good (shout out to Randy), and once they turned the music up it helped with the noise level. There are no photos. Cell phones are not allowed past the locker room. I'm not a fan of the over crowded tubs (small pools). The only reason for 4 stars is the overcrowded tubs, noise level too much for a 'quiet' area and there are some cell phones that do make it past the locker rooms. I have had many by different people because I need them, and I have been traveling a lot lately. This one, omg, AMAZING! BRYAN is the therapist I request. The reason: after my first visit I left pain free. That doesn't happen, not for me. It lasted 2 weeks even with me working and doing everything like I normally do. I am told there are other therapists there that are just as skilled, but when you have never had pain relief, especially relief that lasted, you just don't take chances. They do offer many other personal services and many of those can be scheduled as a couples session. I plan to try more in the future. I do wish pricing reflected a discount for persons like myself who do not want to use anything communal aside from the locker room. read more

General weekday admission is $50 This only feels expensive in comparison with a place like spa castle, that charges $40 and offers much more in way of space, variety and amenities. If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars for location, you won't mind paying $50 to get in here. The place is meticulously clean, well stocked and well maintained. You will Notice employees constantly cleaning and cleaning towels and slippers while you're here. Two thumbs up. The downside. The pools are tiny! Like, very very small, especially for the amount of people that were there (and it wasn't even very busy). On top of the size, the hot tub was very, well, not hot. Which was pretty disappointing. On top of that, the jets weren't very strong. The room temp pool was small and overcrowded The Suanas and steam room were very on point. Something that really took away from having a relaxing experience here was there was no policy on noise. I Hate to sound like a grumpy old fart but when you're in a tiny cavernous room the last thing you want is to hear seperate groups of people's very loud conversations. the clientele and everything here is incredibly cringe. 2 tourist girls were filming a tik tok for 30 minutes straight in the mirror, in a locker room, where women are in the background/changing/naked. to go to a bathhouse. i said something to the employees and they made me feel like i was a karen. i guess this is the type of marketing and clientele they want to continue to attract. i would get kicked out of my gym if i tried to do that in the locker room. another person in the pools was yelling about dental procedures and i could still hear her from the sauna. the people there are just tacky and loud and classless unfortunately. didn't get food or massage so can't attest to that. $58 i'll never get back read more

Mixed feelings. Clean and close to home. That was the plus. It would have potential to be a relaxing bath house experience, but as another reviewer pointed out, a huge problem was NOISE. As a former residents of the East Village, and frequenters of the the Russian Turkish Baths, we were shocked by some groups conversational volume here!! We work very long hours and came on a day off to relax, rest, and feel restored. It was beyond disappointing that people's conversations were SO LOUD in the pool areas - loud enough that you could hear and understand everything they were saying even if you left the pools and went into the saunas! I have visited innumerable spas and bathhouse type establishments and find it is common courtesy to use a soft voice when speaking. Perhaps more importantly, it is common practice for the ESTABLISHMENT themselves to establish this quiet practice. We came to socialize as well but whispers and quiet voices would allow a perfect blend of social relaxation. We also booked services, I booked a massage and my husband booked a stretch+30 min massage. My massage was pretty bad. I work out a lot and really enjoy deep tissue massage. This massage started off with the therapist digging his knees into my hamstrings. I would have been ready for that type oof pressure after a bit of easing into the massage. The rest of the massage was very, very gentle pressure. My husbands stretch massage: stretch was excellent! He felt therapist really knew what she was doing! He would come back just for this! They missed that his service was also supposed to have a 30 minute massage. After the stretch, he was sent back out to the common areas. He was willing to just let it go since he had such a great stretching! Later on, a different therapist did come find him, apologizing that he didn't get his massage. They took him into a treatment room for the 30 minutes and he said his "targeted massage" was just ok. This place IS close to our home. It is clean and the concept is great!! The saunas and steam room were nice and roomy. We wanted to do the sensory deprivation tanks but they are broken until March we were told. It was surprisingly busy for 11am on a Wednesday. We might come back if a courteous noise policy is put in place. Until then, we find it more relaxing to visit other local day spas/bathhouse establishments. read more

I visited this weekend for a birthday treat and I could not be happier that Bathhouse exists! A day pass grants access to locker rooms and the hydrotherapy spa, which includes two saunas, a steam room, hot tub, room-temperature tub and cold bath. Everything but the locker room showers were in working order (they just opened so I doubt that'll always be an issue - the staff was incredibly helpful in getting the showers running again). Sandals, towels and robes are provided. A few critiques: the cleaning staff is extremely efficient and I ended up using several towels and pairs of sandals. There are no extra sandals in the bath area, so if the staff takes your shoes while you're enjoying a pool, you have to walk all the way back to the locker room, in bare feet, for more. Also, the pools are not labeled so you need to dip your toes in to figure out the temperature of each. I assume the hot tubs are salted, but again, this is not clear. I didn't try the restaurant, but a 2-hour stay in the baths was just what I needed to relax and refresh. I will definitely be back to try a massage and the sensory deprivation tank. read more

THE WORST!! I HAD MY WALLET AND IPHONE STOLEN FROM MY LOCKER. They are so incompetent in that place, they open up lockers for anyone and don't even ask for ID. I went for a massage and when I came back my stuff was stolen. And within less than an hour, the thief went shopping with my credit cards all over town. THIS IS THE MOST STRESS I HAVE EVER HAD A SPA. So, here is my experience. After being on the phone for 45 mins to book an appointment, I was finally able to get a slot for a massage and a hamam scrub. I was really excited to get this experience. I check in at the time they asked me to come in and they provided me two scraps of cloth. I honestly thought it was to wipe hands or something like that but it was all they would provide what they expect you to change into. I was shocked that after charging close to 300 USD, I wasn't even getting a bathrobe and told them the two pieces of towel ( I swear it was as big as a hand towel), wouldn't even go around me, they said it was all they had. Now I didn't bring a bathing suit because all I wanted was a massage and I kept telling them that this scrap of a towel would even cover me. I felt so body shamed and all they could do was say that's all they had. When I put my foot down, a manager (maybe) told the front desk person to grab a robe from the restaurant. That's when I realized that they try to get more money out of you by making to get drinks to get a robe! Now the locker room was slightly nicer than a high school locker but smelled just as bad. It was such a bad experience to begin with and didn't get a lot better. I recommend you go to Aire Ancient Bath and give this a skip. Not worth your money. read more

The overall reviews for this place is about right. The front desk attendants are very nice. Very polite. BUT management does the absolute minimum to call this a spa or bathhouse. Only three Showers. It's crowded most of the time. No resting room. What would it take to have an area for people to hydrate and meditate? And today I'm in the hot tub and a loud couple wouldn't stop arguing...30-40 minutes. AIring their dirty laundry for all to hear! So out I went. (Along with another woman.) Lastly, you're not going to check if people got vaccinated? In a spa crowded with people? Nope, I get the feeling management wants your money; they want you in and out. No full spa treatment here. The ONLY good thing about this spa was the masseuses service itself. My friends and I spent over $800 on services / drinks and the manager was nasty and rude to us because of a scheduling issue. She was condescending and rude while she refused to accommodate us in any way. We paid for multiple services , the third person in our group was running late but the two of us were there in the pool (2ft away from the benches where you wait to get called) and no one called our name (it was all under my name). The person doing the treatment said no one was at the bench so she didn't say anything out loud. We specifically asked would our name be called and was it ok if we go in the pool to wait, the first shift front desk person told us yes that was fine. So we all missed out on one service that wAs prepaid although two of us were there and could've taken the service in place of our friend who was 15 mins late. Also important piece of this is the two services we received before this ,the staff was late! I wouldn't have cared but now when we as paying customers are late they gave us no courtesy or accommodation. I have never been treated so poorly in a customer service based business let alone when spending so much. I will never go here again, the quality was subpar. The pool area was loud and the staff stood to the side talking in groups on their phones but rushed to say we couldn't have ours . It wasn't relaxing , it wasn't peaceful. I was so disappointed and appalled most of all by the evening manager. She had many piercings and tattoos and wore glasses. People playing in the pools no one around the make sure people were quiet and using their inside voices. Don't waste your money here . Honestly, the only reason what drove me to this bathhouse for their pricing and quality versus going to a really expensive, better quality spa like Equinox They had this membership program that was 250 and offers deals on food, and service that make it worthwhile including events. Until they all of sudden started charging 300 with no discount as bathhouse member. Like without membership, theres no point. At this rate I am more than comfortable doing the equinox premium global membership I will get twice the offer like eg. hudson yard better view 3x larger pools with incredible views for much cheaper. This place is not for relaxing, it's a social club. I went on a Tuesday at 10 AM. It wasn't super crowded but the people there were obnoxious and loud. There are signs downstairs asking people to keep their voices down, but no one enforces it, and the staff even talk at full volume. If you are looking for a scene, then this is the place for you.
