The ladies at this place are so very nice, welcoming and helpful. I was gifted a 60-min facial while in town so I took advantage. The Mall of Asia location is a bit overwhelming so it was nice to go to a place for a bit of relaxation while getting a facial. And relax, I did. This is a little different from the one I just had at home -- there was no painful "extraction" of white/black heads. Maybe it's because I had none since I just had a facial not too long ago. Instead there was a gentle exfoliation, lots of applications of serums etc, and gentle massaging. I felt like I was truly being cared for. I go to a spa a month. I've been to the majority of the popular ones. This is EASILY the only one i would come back to frequently. Reasons below. 1. New York Spas range from 200-1,000 -- Honestly the services here are nicely priced for the luxury massage market. 2. There are actual amenities, with a hot tub, cabana , pool , and steam room my friends and i were able to spend a beautiful spa day here compared to other spas that only have a room with couches and some music. 3. While it's small i feel it adds to the intimacy of the experience. I am very glad we chose this Spa for our birthday. Gorgeous spa in the heart of NYC! The entire team was lovely from the moment we walked in the door. We were whisked away to the locker room and invited to enjoy plush robes and slippers then lay in a cabana by the pool and whirlpool. Our massages were amazing and we were able to use La Mer body creme as well! Overall I loved that I made the time to use the facilities to relax before and after our massages. read more

Only rating the massage itself that I received from Tammy, which was 5/5. She gave me a prenatal massage from head to toe, and I'm talking scalp down to the tip of my toes, and it was so so so good. For prenatal massages, they have a foam padding thing that has a cutout for your breasts and tummy (which can accommodate all the way up to 9 months pregnancies) and pelvic bone support, so I was able to lie on my stomach after not having been able to for several months. It wasn't uncomfortable at all. Tammy was really gentle but also perfectly strong, and the massage was incredible. I've gotten quite a number of massages before, and this was by far the best. You can choose from eucalyptus or lavender oils in the beginning and end of your massage to smell, and I loved the eucalyptus oil a lot. The changing room was a bit small and there wasn't a lot of privacy, but I had it mostly to myself so I didn't mind too much. I did not get to use the pool area, so I can't speak to it, but it was quiet and empty on a Wednesday afternoon. read more

I decided to treat myself to their most premier facial for my birthday and $500 later...I could've gotten a better facial with better customer service from a 5 year old. When I walked in the front desk person was giggling with a colleague (which is fine) but looked annoyed I had arrived. I was told to fill out a form and led to the pool area. I was offered a drink and I asked for water but it never came. When I was done filling out the form, the front desk person took it and then didn't provide further instruction. I asked her where I should go next and she pointed me to a locker room. She told me to change and I asked her where I should go once I am changed. She told me to "wait outside the locker room." I changed into the tinest robe to ever exist (they had only one very small size) and waited outside the locker room. Someone came by and asked me what I was doing standing there. I explained, and she shuffled me back again to the pool area. (To be clear the pool area experience was literally me in a robe watching another woman swim...incredibly awkward waiting space and not relaxing). When it was time for my facial, my facialist was nice but spent a long time just waiting for my product to "soak in." 30 of the 90 minutes was me sitting there in a sheet mask I can buy online for $30...not kidding. When I was finished, I decided to check out the locker room showers. They were incredibly dirty. Considering this was a Sunday early morning appointment, the fact that the showers were not cleaned overnight was a big issue. The floors were soaking wet and marble...almost fell like 3x! Lastly, the shampoo and conditioner and shower gel were branded with baccarat rouge 540 stamps (I was SO EXCITED FOR THIS). I opened up the shower gel and took a whiff...the bottles were REFILLED WITH CHEAP ORANGE SHAMPOO/BODY WASH. It smelled like cheap handsoap. This place is a true dump for the price. Will not go back and will not send any of my friends/colleagues. Edit: I also told the receptionist it was my birthday (making light conversation). I heard that you generally get a birthday "gift" (macarons or some small samples). The woman literally didn't respond or even say happy birthday back. Oof. I really wanted to like this place, considering I did a $700 birthday massage here. The massage itself (90 min) was great, as was the massage therapist. And the birthday gift bag full of Baccarat chocolates and La Mer samples was fantastic. But boy was this place depressing. I got there a a bit early and was asked to wait in the pool room on one of the cabanas. The pool was being cleaned at that moment, which kind of took me out of the spa mindframe. For my birthday, I ended up booking a last minute facial and massage here. I didn't read the reviews until after I had booked, but felt like I wanted to see for myself! It's true that the facilities are possibly a little underwhelming, and the locker area is tiny! Really can only have 2 people max at a time. In comparison to some other spas I've been too, this is definitely a little bit bare. However, the service was great, from my welcome, to getting tea at the cabana, and then the massage and facial...! I had Christina who really pampered and took care of me. I was so relaxed that I had dozed off by the end of my facial. I left with a bag of La Mer samples as a birthday goodie bag, and felt so relaxed. My friends and I had high hopes for a spa experience at La Mer. I signed up for an illuminating facial and expected to leave with practically brand new skin. To say the least, I was disappointed. The aesthetician was kind and sweet, but lacked proper training. My feet were barely massaged. The treatment includes feet, shoulders, scalp and hand massage. I barely received any of it. Most of the facial consisted of hand movements on the face, applying some products. It was gentle stroking. I asked for a deeper clean when doing extractions, she didn't spend more than 5 minutes. I also asked for a massage around my temples, and pointed where that would be, it was done quickly and vaguely. Once I was finished, I was brought to the cabana pool area. My friends and I didn't last long there. It was uncomfortably hot. The receptionist mentioned how a request could be sent to the engineer department to lower. Meanwhile, we were assisted to the lobby area and gym to sit somewhere cooler. There is no waiting room, condiments, hot tea or snacks provided while waiting for treatment. The pool area is small. The locker room and shower is small and doesn't fit many people. Being to many spas, I had higher expectations of La Mer Spa, and can confidently write, it's still developing . Don't waste your time here. There's many other locations in NYC which will deliver for the price you pay at La Mer. read more

I had a 60 minutes deep tissue massage with Jennifer, and while it was very nice and she went to the effort of applying hot stones to my back and some kind of warming cream to my hamstrings, the pressure was just not enough to merit calling it a deep tissue massage. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, there is no lounge, nor was I offered tea or water. The pool area is lovely, and thankfully was almost empty when I was there on a Monday afternoon. The hot tub was great, but the pool was pretty cold. Considering it is March in NYC and freezing outside, I'd hoped it would be warmer. The ladies locker room is nice, but very small and offered very few products, and even those that were in the shower were generic. It's a La Mer Spa, and having paid over $260 for a massage, a squirt of some sort of La Mer product would have been nice. The steam room had to be turned on for me and took almost 15min to warm up. I wouldn't return. If you are willing to spend this kind of money, the experience at Shibui Spa at the Greenwich Hotel is far superior. read more

Spa de La Mer was just ok. It was not as extravagant as I'd hoped / expected compared to other spas. Upon arriving onto the floor, you're hit with an intense smell of overwhelming chlorine. The only area to wait until they are ready for you is by the pool. Two of the three available guest towels by the pool were noticeably dirty. Nothing but water is offered. The dressing locker room is EXTREMELY small and tight. No more than 2 women can be at the lockers simultaneously. There are no provided accessories such as hairdryers or combs. Very small and tight space, the locker room at my office gym is more spacious. not at all opulent like the restaurant. I would suggest going to Equinox Spa at Hudson Yards instead, which is luxurious. read more

I should've trusted bad Yelp rating. But I thought... suave a great hotel and big LaMer name, how bad can it get?! Well, it can get extremely disappointing experience with a check of $1,600. UPD. Director contacted me and listened carefully to my issues. She offered partial refund. I hope my feedback will help to improve the experience. It was impossible to make a booking properly. I was directed to different agents every time I had a question and they could barely wrap their minds around being able to schedule multiple services for 2 people simultaneously. I made my appointment around 2-3 weeks prior and yet I got a wrong service, even though it was approved on the phone multiple times. It was my bachelorette day right prior to the wedding and mom and me booked 3 services each. Unfortunately, on the day of our evening plan was rescheduled to 1 hour prior to original time. I called spa to change one of the services for shorter time to be able to get free earlier and make it to our evening event. The service was facial and I wanted to make it 60 minutes instead of 90 and explained the situation and my occasion. You would expect people to understand, right? Nope, not the case. Moreover, if you have any respect and understanding of customer service, you would congratulate a person and offer some perk. Do you think I got any of that? Obviously not. It's so unfair, especially taking into account such a big celebration as wedding and that we're spending $1,600 even after service shortening. Well, I got told multiple times that it's impossible and doesn't correspond to their policy (which I totally understand, but expected some understanding of the situation) and only after I raised my voice a person agreed and said that she's not going to continue conversation with me and abruptly finished the call. I got really upset and didn't feel well anymore to go to the services. I spent time to decompress and mom and I still went. All the services were average and 1 of them was that wrong massage that I mentioned. Once services finished, we had to use changing rooms (extremely small ones, btw) to prepare ourselves. Well, during that times cleaning lady came and obviously showed multiple times that we're not welcome to stay for longer. Additionally, I thought I do something wrong with the shower, since water was barely warm. I got told that it's as warm as it gets. Such a luxurious experience to shiver in shower after your massages and facials! I was given a business card of Spa Director. But... surprise surprise! I had Jennifer for my prenatal massage and she was amazing! By far, the best prenatal massage I have ever had bc her pressure was spot on! Most places just are too light with their pressure. The pool and jacuzzi were nice. Never too busy at any point. The only part I wish they would improve on is the showers. The water just doesn't drain so well after the shower and leaves that whole hallway wet and slippery. I almost slipped coming oo Also they require a 20% tip which I found annoying. We came with a group of girls and I can say not a single one of us enjoyed our massages and we had different people. This was probably the worst massage experience ever. The masseuses are not experienced. I now have excruciating pain in my neck and back and have to go to physical therapy and to my normal weekly masseuse to hopefully fix this mess. Wow! I thought maybe my experience at the Spa was because it was an off weekend and then I looked at the reviews. I was holding on to this review until I had the time to sit down and type the terrible service my friend and I had there. First, I drove in to NY from Washington, DC for a girls weekend including Spa de La Mer. That weekend ended up being the weekend the Noreaster hit NYC. The morning of Saturday my friend and I woke up and looked out the window and literally there was no way cars could even drive anywhere let alone people could walk. I called to ask if we can cancell and they said they would charge us because the governor did not close the streets. I literally had to ask if they looked outside. However, my friend and I rushed out the house and hopped in a $150 Uber to the city from Brooklyn, swerving throughout the streets in the snow roads and the windy snowy Brooklyn bridge. We got to the spa 2 min before the appointment. Got a tour and then brought to the bathroom, we were admiring the bathroom when the worker told us " you guys are late so we want to get you to your appointment". Ma'am considering we just risked our lives to come here and got here on time for our appointment actually. Give us a break. We walked out and one of the massage therapists was on his phone when we were greeted. Terrible! We were done with our massage and rented the bed for an hour. We asked for the food and champagne menu. A different woman told us that it would take an hour for the food to get to us and we only have the bed for an hour and basically it made no sense. She said she would bring us tea and a granola snack which was literally the size of a penny. We were starving! She left and a gentleman that was so sweet and in charge of the pool gave us the menu took our orders and we out the food and champagne within 20 minutes. Thank God for that man. Then the Spa director greeted us and I shared with her the tragedy of a "spa day" that we had. She said she would give us her card (that we her apology). We came to the spa in the middle of a historical snow day from Brooklyn and she said she would give us her card. I explained to her that I worked in PR for the Mandarin Oriental and I know 5 star customer service. This was not it! When people are paying $300 for a massage, then you create an experience for them. I left the spa feeling like I left work. After we spent time by the pool we wanted to enjoy the sauna, we were told it was dirty and we had to wait 45 minutes for it be cleaned. We said its okay and said we would shower, there was no shower supplies (shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, clean towels, hand towels, shower caps) I mean I am confused if this the Baccarat hotel? What is your PR team doing? We left the hotel with a $500 bill each and a headache. The director that said she would leave her card for us at the front was not there to greet us out nor did she give us a card. The staff needs to be trained! We posted our day and so many people were contacting us asking us how was it, our recommendation Aire Bath Spa. Never again! The spa does not give luxury at all. P.S. one of my friends postponed her appointment. she asked for them to postpone it for 2 weeks in march, the person accidentally postponed the appointment to May. She is a nurse with a crazy schedule and was talking about her massage, when she called to confirm because she thought it was weird they didnt send a confirmation email, the woman said there were no appointments for her to find out they booked the wrong month. First off, the place is nice, but if I could give it 3.5 stars I could but can't give half stars. First off, the employees are truly amazing. Super friendly and welcoming! The lady who checked me in was seriously a joy to talk to. As soon as I got there, she offered me tea and water. Now this is where this begins to turn.. they only have 1 tea already brewed. I hate when spas do this. Part of the experience should always be choosing your tea. I personally hate green tea and that is what they had. No snacks that I saw anywhere. That really was disappointing. Especially with the French theme, they should have at least had macaroons or something out to snack on. I really enjoy making my tea, eating a snack, and relaxing in a quiet comfy lounge before a massage... which brings the next disappointment. They don't have a lounge. They have chaises in the pool area, but it is the hotel pool. When I was in there there were children in there being loud. I go to spas to get away from my kids and for peace and quiet. This was just not possible. Now the pool area is beautiful, but it was definitely no tea lounge that's for sure. They did have a nice whirlpool in the pool are though. Let me talk about the robes and slippers. I'm a hotel guest and the robes in the hotel rooms are FAR nicer than than the ones they give you at the spa. The robes were so thin, basically felt like a bed sheet. No joke. And the slippers... they were the cheap cloth kind that you get at hotels, not the normal rubber ones 99% of spas use. There is no way those slippers would prevent a fall. I could easily see someone slipping in the facilities and getting hurt. Hopefully they switch to rubber before that happens. The facility itself is very tiny. That's not always a bad thing, but I mean it was super tiny. No sauna. And the steam room was out of order. That really was disappointing. I at least wanted to enjoy the steam room. Also, hardly any toiletries. I'm not sure if they had them somewhere else, but usually spas will put a sign saying "additional toiletries available,see spa attendant" or something like that. But nope. The massage was really great, she did a fantastic job. Other than forgetting to do one of my thighs, and one of my hands... I could have said something so that's on me. We were talking so I may have distracted her. But I'm OCD when it comes to balance and having one hand massaged and one thigh massaged had me a bit off my equilibrium. But I must stress that She really did an amazing job. Perfect pressure and everything. I added on the foot scrub due to all of the walking my feet were killing me. It was $80. Yep. For foot scrub. Bear in mind that no time was added to my massage. I agreed to it, again, I should have declined. I could have scrubbed my own feet. Now for this experience to my shock when car time to pay was almost $500. This was for 90 min massage w foot scrub. Total of 90 min. I've been to Forbes 5 star spas in Dubai, Vegas, Switzerland, Beverly Hills, along with many other places and this was the most expensive massage I have ever had. Even my massage yesterday at the mandarin oriental was cheaper, and that is a Forbes 5 star hotel. This one is not yet even rated. I suggest they make some changes or it won't even make it to Forbes 4 star. Bottom line, pretty spa, good massage, but way overpriced. Should have used that money for 2 treatments at a Forbes 5 star spa. read more

I was quite disappointed with the service at the La Mer Spa. I decided to schedule two massages and two facials for my friend and I and it was a complete disaster. The aesthetician could not stop talking during the entire facial. In addition, I asked for a deep tissue massage and the massage was as soft as a feather. I was very disappointed because this was my birthday gift to myself and the spa's service was less then what I expected. The facilities here are very small and minimal but classically beautiful. The prices here are luxury but nothing at all about the experience was. One had to ask for everything from a towel, slippers, and robe, to even soap for the shower. The locker room is completely bare. No soap anywhere, no lotion, no hair ties, feminine products, combs, or any of the other things that are usually found at a spa or even a gym. Was not offered tea, spa water, or any kind of spa snacks. It was an over all very awkward experience and was not made to feel comfortable to use the pool area, which was also a reason for booking. I had a 60 min deep tissue massage during which the masseuse never touched my back, in spite of my request for her to focus on my spine. I really wanted to love this spa...I've heard such amazing things about the hotel so assumed the spa was just as amazing. The spa is in the basement of the hotel, so no windows, no view of the city. The women's changing room is small, maybe 10 or so lockers. Unlike other high-end spas, you have to ask for body lotion, face lotion, etc. it's not readily available. The steam room is also small and not as hot as I would have liked it. The pool and hot tub are unisex, I didn't use the pool but the hot tub was also luke warm. The massage however, was 5-star. My therapist Teresa made me so relaxed, I fell asleep during my hour long, deeeeep tissue. Bc the spa is in the basement, at times you can hear the EM trains go by - but that's NYC ;) In general I expected a lot more from the Baccarat and La Mer. From water, to fruit, to amenities, this spa lacked the basics. If you're looking for a quality experience, I'd suggest the Peninsula or Mandarin Hotel. read more
