Just note that the quoted price is for cash since they charge a small fee for credit cards. I wasn't aware of this until I was ready to pay, but luckily I had cash for it. The technician was patient, professional, and clearly knowledgeable. I also learned something new during the visit: California has implemented stricter requirements for smog testers, which now require technicians to visually inspect parts of the engine bay and emissions components. Because my car is a mid-engine sports car, the engine is covered and requires special tools to access. The technician explained that he couldn't perform the test if he couldn't visually inspect the engine, and it's not their responsibility to remove engine covers. At first I didn't realize this requirement, but when I asked if it would be okay for me to remove the engine cover myself and come back, he said that was perfectly fine. The inspection is needed so they can verify certain stickers and emissions components. Although it would have been nice to know ahead of time, I understand that they were simply following state rules and doing the job correctly. I went home, removed the cover, returned, and everything went smoothly. Overall, an honest shop, no surprises, and a technician who was doing things the right way. I appreciate their professionalism and would definitely come back again.
