Greensboro food truck festival on August 28, 2022 was very lively and had a huge presence! There were so many food trucks!!! I'm a very indecisive person. I walked and saw all of the food trucks before ultimately choosing to get food from here. I noticed that their prices were fairly reasonable compared to other food trucks. They were out of the choices that I would typically get such as the wings and jambalaya. I ended up getting the Shrimp Etouffee (Sautéed vegetables cooked into a gravy with Cajun seasoning and Crawfish tail meat served over a bed of white rice) and Cajun boudin balls (Pork marinated in Cajun seasoning and vegetables that is slow-cooked, shredded, mixed with rice, balled up, breaded, and deep fried) with "Who Dat" sauce.I ordered at 8pm and the total was $14.57. I was told it would be ready in 5ish minutes as they were cooking it. I left to order my kid some food at another food truck and came back. It was around 8:10pm and it was ready. The canjun boudin balls were tasty. I wasn't a fan of the "Who dat" sauce. To me, it seemed mustard based and I dislike mustard. My shrimp etouffee came wrapped in a bowl. It was warm in temperature. It was good. The initial appearance threw me off because it looked like soup. However, underneath was nice. Both the canjun boudin balls and the shrimp etouffee had a little heat to them. It wasn't too bad though. I'm don't typically eat spicy foods, so i have a higher sensitivity. I messed up because I forgot to get anything to drink. While I wished my etouffee was a little warmer as the boudin balls were hot/the perfect temperature, it was a good experience overall. This truck was parked literally at the end of my block the other day, interfering with my plans to go to Alpaca yet again because I couldn't think of anything else I felt like eating. But I always feel like eating crawfish etoufee! The etoufee had plenty of little crawfish tails in it, and a green peppery base that gave it a fresh flavor. This contrasted with the chicken and smoked sausage gumbo, which was heavy with Cajun spices. I wished the sausage had tasted more smokey, but it was overshadowed by the spice of the stew. Honestly I was almost the most impressed with the fried okra, which was scorching and crispy with an almost beignetty dough, and the okra somehow wasn't slimy. We ordered fried okra, fried wing, shrimp etouffee and chx/sausage jambalaya. Fried okra was crispy and hot. Seasoned lovely. I just wish I had asked for The Who dat sauce for dipping but I made one at home. Fried wings - Yes! Crispy and flavorful not too salty. This food truck came to my neighborhood recently and although there was a long wait in the cold, it was totally worth it! My partner and I split the jumbalaya, the shrimp etouffee and some mozzarella sticks. Everything was flavorful and cooked well! Tried this today after forgetting my lunch at work. I got the jambalaya. It wasn't bad food per se but I also would not call it jambalaya. It's more like cajun seasoned dirty rice with chicken. I didn't see any sausage pieces and the sauce was a bit greasy. The seasoning was pretty mild, I had to dump on some Louisiana hot sauce they offered to make it spicy. The chicken was tasty. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Cajun and Creole food truck at the Food Truck Rodeo this past Sunday, but I found the food somewhat lacking. I had the jambalaya and shrimp étoufée, but it wasn't anything special. Spices are the key to good Cajun food and sadly I didn't taste much. After a few bites, I found the jambalaya to be rather bland. The side of rice and beans were fine, but those shouldn't be better than the main dishes. I didn't have to wait long for my food and one entrée with a side costs about $10, which is a fair price. For $7, it was a decently sized bowl with plenty of rice, chicken, and sausages. After the first bite, that heat hits me full on along with the Cajun spices. After half way, I'm starting to get the food sweats. After a quarter of the way done, I'm taking out my napkin and wiping off the sweat from my forehead and neck. This was the biggest surprise at today's food truck rodeo. And an even bigger surprise after coming here to review, and seeing the low ratings! Here's my experience with Baton Rouge... My husband did not want to stop here, claiming he doesn't like jambalaya or gumbo. (I know what you're thinking: How could I marry a man with such poor palate sensibilities?) Luckily, my bull-headedness won out, and we made this our first visit at the rodeo. For both of us, it turned out to be the favorite food item of the afternoon! First, the price is reasonable. Entrees are $6 (although, you can make it a meal by adding a side for $9 or two for $12). The entree size was about a cup-and-a-half or two cups. Second, the flavor is outstanding... it packed in all the Creole goodness I'd been salivating over whilst perusing the menu and smelling wafting spices. I was expecting it to be a little "dumbed-down" to accommodate for lower spice tolerance, but discovered it had quite a kick, but was well-balanced, and didn't need any doctoring. As others have mentioned, the meats are finely ground and mixed in with the rice. I thought this was smart, as it's easy to eat (and probably quicker to cook). For $6 I got a heaping take-away container full of Chicken Jambalaya. It was 90% rice and the chicken pieces were so small that I could barely tell there was chicken in it. There weren't any veggies at all. It was somewhat spicy, and it was really spicy after I added a good bit of Texas Pete's and whatever cajun seasoning (still in the plastic store containers) to it. The wait was relatively short and I was happy to see a large portion of jambalaya with chunks of chicken. My family & I ordered from Baton Rouge Cuisine today. One of my cousins is actually from Baton Rouge (born & raised). The red beans & rice was burnt so badly we couldn't eat it, the dirty rice was bland (no seasoning), the crawfish etoufee, had no crawfish and it was also burnt, the mac & cheese bites were hard and burnt, the fish & fries was hard with no seasoning. If I could give zero stars I would. The price was good for the amount of food we got, but the taste was horrible. We through all of this food out and ordered pizza. Since La Points closed I haven't had any Cajun food, so I was happy to see this food trailer at the Carousel Festival. I ordered the shrimp etouffee and boudin balls. The etouffee was more of a miss than a hit, the sauce was more blonde than I'm used to and they use those incredibly tiny pre-cooked baby shrimp which don't add much flavor. The serving well was about 95% rice with a splash of gravy across the top, not a very good value at $7. The boudin balls with their spicy remoulade sauce were really excellent though. Spicy shredded pork, rice and herbs made up the ping pong sized balls. They were hot, spicy and fried perfectly without any greasiness. read more
