Tried this today after forgetting my lunch at work. I got the jambalaya. It wasn't bad food per se but I also would not call it jambalaya. It's more like cajun seasoned dirty rice with chicken. I didn't see any sausage pieces and the sauce was a bit greasy. The seasoning was pretty mild, I had to dump on some Louisiana hot sauce they offered to make it spicy. The chicken was tasty. The portion was a huge amount, definitely wish they offered half portions. So yeah, not bad food but definitely not jambalaya. I wish I hadn't forgotten my lunch!

I enjoy Cajun food and although I don't have it that often, I'm acquainted enough with it to know when I'm tasting quality. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Cajun and Creole food truck at the Food Truck Rodeo this past Sunday, but I found the food somewhat lacking. I had the jambalaya and shrimp étoufée, but it wasn't anything special. Spices are the key to good Cajun food and sadly I didn't taste much. After a few bites, I found the jambalaya to be rather bland. The side of rice and beans were fine, but those shouldn't be better than the main dishes. I didn't have to wait long for my food and one entrée with a side costs about $10, which is a fair price. Overall it's an alright venue, but if you want to have a truly delicious meal or experience Cajun and Creole food, you might want to check elsewhere.

Chicken Sausage Jambalaya and fried Okra

Line movement was extremely slow but the food was extremely good. Disappointed they were not selling their Boudin balls. Ordered the Chicken Sausage Jambalaya and a side of fried Okra. Food was fresh and hot.

Yummy, like The Who Dat sauce!

I am a true New Orleans girl so I was excited to try this Louisiana food truck. I loved the boudin balls with their who dat sauce. Disappointed with the crawfish étouffée, not enough crawfish, not well seasoned and way too much rice. (Rice was gummy too). All of that said, I am going to support this business, looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Happy to hear they have three trucks and enjoy this real Louisiana cuisine.

Pretty decent food truck option, I had a delicious albeit heavy lunch of boudin balls (3), side of fries and a drink for less than $8. The dipping sauce was great on the fries, and fries were cooked very well. I would have almost preferred the boudin ball filling by itself instead of fried- the heavy fried layer didn't add anything to the dish but grease and a charred taste

For $6 I got a heaping take-away container full of Chicken Jambalaya. It was 90% rice and the chicken pieces were so small that I could barely tell there was chicken in it. There weren't any veggies at all. It was somewhat spicy, and it was really spicy after I added a good bit of Texas Pete's and whatever cajun seasoning (still in the plastic store containers) to it. I hate to give a food truck less than three stars because, well, I love food trucks, but I just can't see myself ever going back. Also, they did not have any diet sodas.

    Chicken and Smoked Sausage Gumbo

Got the chicken and smoked sausage gumbo. The food was pretty good but it was way overpriced ($7) for a small bowl of gumbo. It should be at most $4-$5 for this little bowl. Definitely didn't get my money's worth.

30 minutes for a snow cone. Food is not authentic Cajun as well. I would not eat there again unless I had hours to wait.

The gumbo was not the best. The rice was hard and there was barely any meats in the meal. It tastes more like a bowl of rice and roux.

The flavors were good but the food portions off the truck was not worth the price of the food. Will never order from here again.

I started with a Cajun Martini made with jalapeño-infused vodka, and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. It did not taste artificially jalapeño-flavored; it had a real kick and just the right amount of heat. We started with the Crawfish Rangoon Dip, and honestly, I could have made a meal out of it. I have had Rangoon dips before, but this one was especially smooth and full of flavor. If I had been at home, I probably would have been tempted to run my finger around the bowl to get every last bit. For my entrée, I had the Shrimp Étouffée. Others at the table ordered the Duck Jambalaya, Shrimp and Grits, and Gumbo Yaya. My dish seemed to get better with every bite. The Creole stew was rich and deeply flavorful without being over the top. I was especially glad our waitress suggested adding a side of garlic bread to mop up the sauce. Even the garlic bread stood out, toasted on the grill with a slightly smoky flavor. It felt like real attention had been paid to every detail. We all tried each other's dishes, and I would happily go back and order any one of them. The banana pudding at the end of the meal was just as good. It had a strong banana flavor and was not overly sweet. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the meal moved at a relaxed pace. We never felt rushed. My only complaint was the noise level. The restaurant has a tiled ceiling, and it got loud enough that at times, it was difficult to hear people on the other side of the table. Even with that, I would go back to Blue Denim!

The crawfish rangoon dip was delightfully cheesy with large pieces of crawfish, the chili sauce was sweet and had a tiny bit of heat, and I loved the crisp and light wonton chips. The shrimp and grits were almost as delicious as I remembered from my visit years ago. There is a moderate amount of cajun spices, so if you don't like somewhat spicy food, you may want to ask to see if they can adjust this, but I loved it as is. My husband had the King Catfish plate and really enjoyed it, though we both agreed the Shrimp and Grits was superior. My only complaint with Blue Denim is the noise level. It is a small space with a charming interior, but given its tight quarters, it can get quite loud even if the restaurant is only half full. I'm not sure how they would go about fixing this, but if the weather is nice (as it was in this latest visit) I will opt to eat at one of their outdoor tables.

Expect to wait 10-15 minutes for each drink, and considerably longer for appetizers or entrees. On top of that, our server forgot a drink or an item on every single visit. That might just be our luck, but it's a hard pattern to ignore. I'm no beignet expert, but Seraphine's are much closer to fried whole wheat bread dusted with powdered sugar than the light, donut-like dessert you'd hope for. Unappetizing, frankly. The beignets at Succotash are *vastly* superior. That said, there are definitely things to like. The ambiance is lovely, and the food -- once it finally arrives -- is genuinely good! If the service and timing matched the quality of food, this would be an easy place to recommend.

I was going to order the creole gumbo, but found out when I came in that it was a seafood gumbo today not their regular one. Oh well. So I ordered jambalaya with a side of red beans and rice. Both were good but a little dry and I've had better nearby. The fresh catch of the Day was Amber Jack, and I love that fish, so maybe I should've ordered that in a Poboy.
