Driving from Tuscaloosa to San Antonio with two teens, we were tired and could not find the hotel my son suggested. Exited from I-10 and we were right around the corner. The rate was listed as a special so I drove right over. Can I say WOW! we were all surprised at the room. Beautiful décor, Laminate floors (no stinky, sticky, stained carpet here.) Great view from the 9th floor. And then the bathroom - Wow! What an upgrade for a hotel. The decorator must have watched all the design shows on TV now. Barn door with frosted glass inlay to the bathroom. LARGE glass enclosed shower. Nice thick towels. It was awesome. Then, came room service. The food was good. We ordered Kids plates and found them to be very filling and tasty. But, definitely overpriced with the additional fees and 20% gratuity added. The room service pricing is the reason I marked down from 5 stars. Customer service from everyone was great! Will I stay here again? Yep, but no room service. :) read more

Do not stay here at all. Absolutely a disgrace . I checked in and went out to eat . I came back and couldn't even get back in my own room. No one was there to assist at all. They said they would put me in another room until the morning. The key battery was supposedly dead. All of my stuff was locked up in the other room. My clothes , medicine, etc. Who does that ? Do not stay here at all. Absolutely disgusting . And to make it worse everybody smoking weed on every floor . This place deserves zero stars . read more

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was great - plenty of counter space and seat for shower with massage shower settings. The bar staff was friendly & daiquiri tasty. The Marriott in Baton Rouge is a nice hotel, especially if you get one of the renovated guest rooms. The check in process was smooth, and was greeted with the usual Marriott "thank you for being a gold Marriott rewards member..." The last time I stayed here (about a year ago, last November), the hotel was (and looks like it still is) going through a major renovation. The room last time was not very nice as I recall... But wow! I was totally take aback when I got into my room. I thought I was staying at a Renaissance Hotel! The new decor is very modern and chic, not what I would expect in a Marriott. The finishing touches were very nice. The bathroom was nicely redone (total rehab from what I could tell and not just a superficial makeover). There are hardwood floors in the guest room, which I found different. The wardrobe was very functional. My only complaint is that there really isn't a work station. The desk was a bit too narrow (it's more like a 2x4 writing desk). There is a nice set up (with Internet jacks, USB ports and outlets) behind the couch. There is a large and tall coffee table, and so it makes for a comfy work area. I am just a bit old school... The bed was the usual Marriott bed--very comfy for a good nights sleep. The shower was spa-like. There was a rainfall shower head with excellent water pressure. The hot water has hot! There was a tiled bench in case one wanted to just sit and relax in a steam shower. I had a room by the elevator and so to was a bit noisy. My guess is that the doors don't really keep out hallway noise. This is definitely a must stay hotel the next time I am in Baton Rouge! read more

Not your typical Marriott. Very disappointing. The lobby is clean however I would say the rest of the hotel is marginal. We checked in on a Saturday night around 1030 at night and the lobby was filled with women lingering around if you know what I mean... Beds were sagging. Random square pillows. The decor is extremely outdated and nonfunctional. It leads me to ask if this is a Marriott in Baton Rouge Louisiana what does a non- Marriott in Baton Rouge Louisiana look like!!! We stayed here recently and enjoyed our visit very much. The front desk was friendly and helpful. We stayed on the concierge level and enjoyed the many comfortable benefits offered. The decoration was nice, beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spacious/with a very large nice shower. We enjoyed our visits to the restaurant where the staff and food were wonderful. There is an outdoor pool that looked very nice but weather did not cooperate... however the fitness center was well equipped and clean. We will definitely be back! I would also mention that we had need to use the hotel safe which was made available to us quickly and easily. read more

For the past 13 years, I have owned and been the chef at a 4.5 rated Trip Advisor establishment. Traveling is my life and I try to view things with an open eye and I understand that things happen. It is how you handle them that makes me judge my stay and not the event itself. Recently my daughter graduated from LSU and my wife and I had reservations at this property. The service at check in was exceptional and everyone was eager to assist. Since we were running late and had traveled 10 hours, we checked in and headed up or a quick shower and get dressed. Upon entering I noticed that we were given a room with two queen beds instead of a King size. Being pushed for time, I let it go. No big deal. A simple mistake and I'll not worry about it. The bathrooms are small and it made for two people getting ready a nightmare. After graduation and a long meal we returned to a scorching hot hotel room. I called the front desk and informed them that I needed to change rooms because the ac unit wasnt working and she informed me that the entire hotel had lost air conditioning. This is South Louisiana and air conditioning is a must. Luckily it was cooler than normal for South Louisiana. I asked her how long would it be and she informed me that fixing it was top priority and that the bar area was cooler and she offered us a drink ticket if we wanted to wait in the lobby or bar. Well, I had just finished an outstanding dinner at Jubans with drinks galore and I was ready for bed. My wife and I fell asleep in a hot room to awake freezing at 5 am. They fixed it alright. When checking out, the staff wasnt as receptive as checking in. Maybe they had to deal with alot of complaints. I understand that things happen but one drink offering isnt enough to justify the heat. Not that I would have taken more than one but I'm just saying A reduction in the price should have been the norm for this situation. I'll give it another try due to the service before the ac went down for the entire hotel. read more

Have stayed here many times. The most recent stays were twice in the past two weeks. I always enjoy my stay here! Here's the rundown: Rooms : Extremely comfortable! Great beds and linens. There is a bit of road noise in the rooms, but that can't be helped due to the convenient location to I-10. WONDERFUL shower heads and water pressure! Service: OUTSTANDING! The best hotel staff! This hotel should be used as a model for how the service in a hotel should be! Extremely professional and friendly front desk staff! Concierge Lounge: Great service, food, and drinks! We checked in late and didn't get to stay long, but the time we did have at the property was exactly what I was hoping for. This is a nicely appointed, recently renovated hotel with a friendly staff. I stayed here on a trip from TX to Florida and looked at several different hotels before booking this one. I was not disappointed in the least. It would have been nice if the bar stayed open a little later, but that's irrelevant. read more

It is 1:56am and I am awake, writing a review. It can't be good! The traffic noise sounds like I am on the front row of a Nascar race. The sirens have been so loud I thought they must be in the parking lot--they weren't. Our room was next to the ice machine and people were constantly getting ice after midnight. The toilet was so loud after flushing I thought we were having a plumbing problem. Honestly, this is the worst hotel experience I have had in a long time. Won't ever stay here again! read more

This is the second time I stayed at the Marriott here. Major problems with the tv internet. Finally the second night the TV came on 8 times with loud noises and then immediately turned off. This was after I asked for the TV to be fixed that day. I asked management for additional points or reduction in payment since I did not get much sleep.they said that they would get back to me and nothing happened. It seams that there is very poor management at this hotel so I would highly recommend that people don't stay there. I stay at Marriott's through out the US over 75 nights a year and this hotel has the least caring management of any Marriott that I stay at. read more

I've been staying here with a team of 7-10 for the last four months. There are only two redeeming qualities: (1) the front desk and concierge lounge service and (2) the location. Beyond that, they've got nothing... Rooms: antiquated, dusty, bad tvs, outlets that don't work Attention to detail: terrible. paper delivery is inconsistent with preferences; bathmats/bathrobes not always provided. Exercise room: so-so. still haven't put a list of channels on the equipment like I requested 2 months ago. The only thing keeping me here is that my team negotiated a bonus points deal with the management. They have been very slippery and we are having major issues getting our points. Should have jumped ship to Renaissance a long time ago. read more

Pros: The personnel that worked at the desk and in the restaurant were extremely nice and helpful. The rate was only $99 per night so it didn't break the bank... Cons: - Hotel is right in the interstate, I heard road noise all night long. - The bed wasn't comfortable. It had a mattress topper that slid around all night causing the sheets to come off repeatedly. It just wasn't a good setup. - I called to the front desk twice and was placed on hold, both times, for at least 5 minutes. (I don't blame this on the competence of the personnel, just that they were understaffed.) - My neighbors were extremely loud. They need to improve their sound barriers. -The bathrooms are tiny! I travel approximately 65% of the month and only stay at Marriott hotels, and I'm sorry to say that this location ranks pretty low on my list. Primarily due to the following reasons: - outdated rooms - poor parking areas - given a room that's close to the elevator & with a connecting room (both listed on my rewards profile as something I do not want ) - But my low ranking of this location is mainly due to the highway noise... it literally sounded like I'm was sitting in the stands of a NASCAR race. I had to sleep with tissue paper in my ears to muffle the noise. I've stayed a Fairfield Inn across from a busy Airport that wasn't as noisy. The location's staff are very helpful and friendly so I rated this location 2 stars, but the noise was too bothersome to give this site a higher rating. Unfortunately I will not stay at this location on my future trips to Baton Rouge. read more

The lobby restaurant is good, with great happy hour deals. I really really hate the street noise though. I was on the 8th floor and could very easily hear the highway. The hallway noise was also loud.would honestly prefer a quiet Fairfield Inn over this 4 star hotel, the point is to sleep. I called and switched to the 14th floor and it took them forever to bring the keys up. I ended up going down myself to get them. The street noise was basically gone but the hallways still loud. Let's start off with the $250 simple room for just one night. Majority of workers here can barely speak English. When we asked for drinks they had no idea what we were talking about so I had to search on my phone to show them. Totally ridiculous learn to speak English! No towels to dry off with yet they knock on the door at 11:50 (10 min before check out) and expect us to be out of the room. Maybe if we had towels to dry off with we would have been out of here in time. The other bed sheets smelled like BO & syrup. Never coming back here again. Then you have to pay $12 for wifi! We were visiting Louisiana and we decided to stay at this Marriott. We are Platinum Elite Members but doesn't matter here. When we checked in, Betty was not friendly or accommodating with finding a larger room. The lobby has been redone and looks very clean but the elevators were aged and dirty with food on the floor. Inside our room it was redone but we found two pillows that were stained (check all your sheets and pillows before you get in your bed). Also, there was not enough towels in the room. I called the front desk and spoke to "Betty" and asked her for new pillows and she said they will bring it right away (they took about an hour to bring them up). I also called "Betty" before for some chamomile tea and she was very hesitant and was very negative to point where she was even stating that they discontinued them. I then said to her that all Marriotts that we have been to they have been very polite and resourceful in finding the tea. At that point, my husband had gone to the Concierge Lounge and he was greeted very politely by "Marlene". She directed him to the chamomile tea and even showed him where was the lemons. "Marlene" had a great disposition to herself and was very polite unlike from "Betty" that is In the front desk and the face of Marriott. Also, if you want a good night sleep do not come here. We feel that the state of Louisiana never sleeps because all night long you hear the cars go by on the highway. There's also the noise of all doors slamming from all the rooms on our floor at different hours of the night. We won't be staying here again! read more

This is a older hotel off of the interstate. I have it a try because I received a discounted rate. This place is usually around $200.00 a night. The rooms were ok a bit old but nice. The bathroom was a bit small and cramped. The beds were soft and nice. Room service was prompt and very good. The only negative thing for me was the traffic noise. The proximity to the interstate made a noisy night. For the room rate it's is a wee bit overpriced. Overall a decent hotel. read more

I'm going to review the overall experience, with the important qualifier that we didn't spend time at the hotel other then to sleep. My first comment to my husband when we walked in was that it smelled funky. Not bad, but just... not quite right. It wasn't pinesol or one of those other recognizable odors, but like they had poorly chosen air freshener. The room overlooked the highway, a large hooters billboard, and a parking lot with said hooters and other assorted establishments. It was just old and a bit depleted. The staff was nice enough when we interacted with them (only on check in). The floor we were on smelled musty. The room seemed to be missing furniture. The bed was comfortable. Enough. That said, it was centrally located and easy to get to and from. Plenty of other options, so I'm not sure I would return. read more

I hate to be blunt, but this place is a hole. I truly do not know how they justify charging $150 for rooms when the entire place is a dusty, dingy, run down festival of mediocrity. Don't get me wrong - I'd rather stay here than a Holiday Inn or Best Western, but it feels more like a 2-star hotel than a 3-star one. The first time I turned on my shower, the water came out brown. Intellectually I know this is just rust in the pipes... but still. Ew. Do yourself a favor and stay either at the Embassy Suites across the Interstate, or at the newly opened Renaissance. It's an ok hotel. A bit dated for the volume of people that stay here. I never thought in 2014 that I had to pay for wifi. At $12.95 a day or $15.95 a day that's nearly half of what I pay for home service a month. My company held meetings here for about 125 sales representatives. The staff did a great job of taking care of the event. Only a couple of us stayed overnight and the girls at the front desk were very personable and took good care of us. After my stay I had to request a copy of the overnight room receipt. I was really disappointed at how many times I had to call before I got the receipt AND how many times I was placed on hold. Generally, it was good service and I would stay again. They provide pack n plays if you ask. First time we stayed, they didn't offer and we didn't think to ask. This second time, the girl offered and I actually rested!!! We have been very pleased with our two stays. They've both been one night (checking in late at night) and their night crew has been very attentive. I've noticed night crew is usually not as good as day crew and that's not the case here. The beds are very comfortable (now that I've slept in one without a baby on me I can say that lol) and the room is inviting and relaxing. Their continental breakfast is great but I think you have to pay for it (we have a military discount and got it for free). I'm pretty sure from now on we will be looking for a marriott next time we are staying the night at a hotel elsewhere read more

Hoo boy...this place is like a trip back to the '80s--no, wait, '70s. I want to state up front that the *one* saving grace (and the reason for the 3-star rating) of this hotel is its staff. They are kind, attentive, and helpful. It isn't their fault that this hotel is...well, let's say "less than perfect." Location -- not too bad. The hotel is right off the freeway and there's a reasonable number of food options (including Raising Cane's...yum?) and stores nearby. Another reviewer commented about freeway noise, but I didn't notice any. Parking -- I'm not a fan of the parking lot's organization, but parking was free and reasonably close to the hotel. I didn't mind walking a couple hundred feet to the nearest door. No complaints here. Lobby & Check-in -- As I mentioned, the staff here are great. They were pleasant and helpful, even though I was asking to check in 5 hours before my designated time. The lobby was spacious with high ceilings. Not much else going on apart from that. Rooms -- What. The. Hell. The rooms at the Marriott are large enough, sure, but they're also like stepping back in time. The TV is a tiny CRT, the beds aren't very comfortable, and the pillows are either too hard or too soft. I'm not really sure what's keeping them from investing some money in their guest rooms, but I was unimpressed. There is absolutely nothing special about these rooms. Bathroom -- another epic fail. Frankly, the rooms are big enough that the bathrooms have no excuse for being this tiny. You can barely close the door without standing on the toilet and the tub was in disrepair. Water pressure was subpar in my opinion and temperature was uneven. This hotel needs some major work before I would even *consider* it to be worth the $153/night rate I paid. I've seen Starwood hotels that put this one to shame for $60 less per night. I will definitely be moving to the Renaissance Inn when it opens. read more

I normally stay at Marriott hotels, but this one is terrible. The girl at the front desk was rude. The walls are paper thin. I could hear every word my neighbors said and they stayed up really late. Even if I had been the only person on the floor, the sound of the interstate would have kept me awake anyway. Don't stay here if you need to sleep. The Baton Rouge Marriott is a very nice hotel for the money. The outside is kind of dated but the room was nicely renovated and comfortable. The bathroom had a killer walk in shower. The staff was very professional and courteous. My favorite part of my stay was certainly Stinky's. The best food I've had in Baton Rouge bar none. Their happy hour is awesome with $5 apps and wine. Along with $1 oysters. All were perfect. One night I also had fried shrimp there which were the best I've had. Definitely worth a stay. read more

LOUD HOTEL! The hotel is undergoing renovations, which should be done in two months. The recently renovated rooms with laminate flooring are gorgeous! However, I wish they would have put pads underneath the chairs to eliminate the LOUD noise when people push their chair back. Also, the doors are very thin, (my room was the end one by the elevator) so I got the noise of people talking on their phone by the elevator, or the jackass across the hall from me that SHOUTED to his buddy as he was walking down the hall back to his room. I was on concierge level during the week, so I expected courtesy from other business travelers. In addition, the people in the room above (or below me) had a toddler that they were bathing, so I heard the wailing of a tired kid reverberating. I also couldn't tell if the faint odor in the bathroom was stale cigarette smoke or just the 70's. Overall, it's nice. Once the renovations are done, it will be classy in appearance, yet leaves a lot to be desired for rest. I just wish the designer did an acoustic analysis before the renovation. read more

Staying at this hotel puts your health at risk. I stayed in the BAton Rouge Marriott one evening in July. I checked in late in the evening and was up and out the door around 5 AM the next morning for the business day. Shortly after leaving the hotel I began itching all over my body. With a quick inspection in the men's room at my client's office, I discovered I was covered with insect bite. The itching was growing worse by the minute - literally my whole body was a maddening itch. That evening I went to an emergency clinic and was told by the physician that the bites were from fleas. Additionally, the doctor said she hadn't seen so many bites on a person...and then expressed concerns about a large area on my arm the was already infected. The prescriptions were just beginning. Over the next several weeks I had three more doctor visits. Antibiotics, prednisone, topical ointments, sleeping pills and Benadryl became the regimen. As an FYI - try 20 Benadryl a day to try to control the itching - without success. The bites remained a problem - constantly fighting infection - non stop extreme itching - and an inability to go to sleep despite two different types of sleeping pills - for five...yes...5 weeks. Cold showers followed by covering the body with ointment and a diet of medication was the routine. Yes, about 6 hours in this hotel got me hundreds of flea bites, sleepless days and nights, an inability to focus on anything but the itching - and a big fat denial of responsibility by the hotel's insurance company. As an FYI...desk personnel at the nearby Renaissance Hotel...told stories of people checking in during the middle of the night in their pajamas speaking of being eaten up by insects at the marriott. Hmmmm. No surprise. So with that....you decide...stay in a hotel that presents a serious risk to your health or sleep under a nearby bridge -'it's safer. Seriously folks...stay at the Baton Rouge marriott at your own risk. As for me...I will stay in New Orleans if no rooms are available in town rather than stay at this marriott. As a footnote...I am a loyal marriott customer as demonstrated by the 700,000 points in their rewards program. So am I throwing this review marriott's way...well yes I guess I am...it is their brand...it is the name I used to trust...and it is name on the building that shines in the night saying trust this brand. Hmmm. Irony upon irony is this hotel is on hilton avenue - hmmmm - I guess I should have stayed at that trusted brand that summer night. read more

Once again another great stay thanks to staff. Each time the customer service has been friendly, professionals and kind. This allows me to recommend this hotel location for work, family etc. However it seemed to be short staffed and not enough luggage carts. This hotel offers happy hour, fitness center and had a small pool. Inside aesthetically offers perfect selfie and or picture sites. read more

Freeway noise woke me up 3 mornings in a row and in the afternoon it was not enjoyable to relax in my room due to the freeway noise. I would never stay here again. This Marriott is undergoing a $45M face lift. I gave it a 4 bc there is no pool, no fitness center and the restaurant was in the conference room, and no proper check in lobby currently. The service was great as is expected from a Marriott. We got a renovated room and addtl towel promptly. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We only stayed on night while passing through. This was booked under Express Deals on Priceline.com for $75/night. The lack of amenities explains the rate. Which suited me just fine. :) read more

I prefer Hilton's because the rooms tend to be newer or at least more recently renovated. That said, this Marriott is A-OK. The rooms are not as old an may Marriott's I've been too. It's clean and the beds are comfortable. The service is good, free breakfast and lounge for Marriott Rewards members. read more
