I've been to Battered Boar several times and my appreciation for this place increases with every visit. OKC is home to some truly fantastic breweries but Battered Boar seems to fly under the radar. I only found out about them when they opened just down the road from me, so I had to try them out. The first trip was odd, since they are so different from any other brewery/taphouse I've visited. First, the place is very small, dark and eccentrically decorated with some pretty cool stuff. They have the usual colorful board menu describing all of their beers but you have to look at the tiny whiteboard on the counter to see what they actually have on that day, and it's usually a fraction of what is on the wall. One of the things I don't like is their presentation of the beers. They seem to have a rehearsed spiel they go thru to describe the beers and although they are descriptive, as a beer enthusiast I like a more detailed description I can relate to standard beer styles. But, this is where Battered Boar really stands out, because most of their beers are unique and don't seem to fit into traditional beer categories. I'm not a big fan of all of their beers, but they are extremely creative and all of the beers are very well executed. Their brewers really have their craft honed to perfection. This is some of the smoothest and most flavorful beer I've had and there is zero evidence of any "off-flavors" present. They also have some really cool water chemistry going in that greatly impact the experience of their beers. My favorite beer in their lineup is the Lime Salten. Very bizarre at first, but quickly addictive. Their coconut cream stout is also amazing. For beer lovers, I can highly recommend Battered Boar Brewery. Don't go there and expect to find the latest IPA, Pilsner or Brown Ale. Battered Boar's beers don't really fall into those categories and are so unique. The location is in a little strip mall now. I did not see their previous location but this one is not great. It's divided into two small rooms. It's very dark and no air conditioning. They had two fans going instead. The seating was not comfortable and it was kind of a weird set up. They only had 4-5 of their beers available when we went in. You order and then wait awhile for someone to bring it from a back room you can't see. It was the longest I've waited for a beer at any brewery I've been to anywhere in the US. The staff were friendly. I tried the lime sultan and it was like drinking salt. I wouldn't recommend. My friend had one of their fruity beers which wasn't bad. I would not go back. Hope their set up gets better. They said they had moved there the first of the year and it is now August. read more

They only use the best ingredients so sometimes they are low on inventory but what they have is amazing! Just check back often for new releases, they don't last long. read more

As an avid craft beer enthusiast, have been to this place three times thinking it will get better. Only a handful of beers available out of their menu, always poured in the back room, why? Plastic cups? Nope! You better like what they serve you as no samples offered, or even allowed to purchase one 4oz pour in case you don't like and don't want to risk it with a full pour, it's either that or a flight. And the cherry on top, the rudest people in the industry, specifically the lady behind the counter. On another note, if you are sensitive to certain smells, avoid this place. Great if you like desert beers. Very sweet! Their full beer list is often not available, you cannot get flights, full pours only, so hopefully you like it. Also, it's kinda weird that after you order, they go to the back and bring it out in plastic cups. Really?? Being a brewery for so long, you would think they can afford some glass. You'll never have beer like this anywhere else! The owners are super nice and always willing to have a chat or explain their beers. If they say something is in the beer you are going to taste it. The beers are some of the best in the area, for sure! I have always loved Planetary Cherry and have only had one instance where they had run out of it. They do a good job of keeping their core beers available year round, but sadly do not have several beers on their menu, which look to be equally delicious. I also used to think that they had the best service, but was disappointed the last time I went in with friends. They acted like they had plenty of other things to do. Some do not like the serving style or the fact that one cannot see beer flowing from taps. This is unfortunate, but understandable. A tap system could have been a welcome addition rather than awaiting an axe throwing venue. However, their slogan "you do you" certainly applies. read more

This place a grown by leaps and bounds! Beers are so flavorful! Lime sultan is refreshing and their best seller. The planetary cherry should be served in a punch bowel and ladle at a party! (Maybe my next bday!?) stumbling goat is a fantastic dark roast coffee flavored beer with a hint of Marshmallow ! The Boarchata is their classic cinnamon vanilla caramel beer, which is amazing in the fall and winter! This is the most underrated brewery I've been to in the greater OKC area (rivaling Prairie) and I think it's an actual shame that they aren't more well-known or better rated. Anyone who posted a negative review was looking for something basic that you could find in a grocery store. This place is anything but. The variety here was excellent, the staff was so friendly, and they took the time out to walk us through the flavor profiles of every beer. The space is small, but felt like a cool hole-in-the-wall as a result! They're working on getting flights and taps soon, since Oklahoma has only allowed taprooms in the past 2 or 3 years. Mrs. Pancakes wasn't overly sweet and was very pecan-forward. The Lime Saltun straight up tasted like a margarita. If you're looking for a new spot that puts care into their beers and their customer service, this is your spot. Most unique and amazing brewery experience I ever had. Every beer is unlike any other I've ever had and we're all extremely tasty.

If you're willing to wait for beer, then this is the place. It took about 15 minutes to get our beer. They said that the kegs all needed to be changed. IMO if you're open at a certain time, be ready to go. Several of their beers advertised online were not ready to be served either. We drove 2 hours after reviewing you on the internet and studying all the beers you had posted online. We LOVED the beers we tasted today, slightly disappointed in the sweetness on the pancake one but TOTALLY loved the coconut one that tasted just like an almond joy. We were NOT thrilled w the service. Yes your bartender was friendly but he didn't hear us when we said we knew what we wanted he just kept going through his spill of each beer. The owner sat at his computer in a lil corner til someone he knew walked in and he went to sit w them. My husband spoke to him and he should have introduced hisself and spoke to us but he kept talking over his Friends who only got louder. I think this olace never opened. We found it on a website and went to the address listed. (We like to stop in and support breweries as we travel across the US.) There was a glass business at the address listed on the website. My husband went in to find out where they were located. The woman asked him "why do you want to kmow?" Answer: "because we want to drink" Question: "where are you from?" Answer: "California" Answer: "The police showed up yesterday and closed them down..
