They lose points for many issues- The service is insipid. Despite being a regular, there is no smile of recognition from the ladies behind the counter. Like some of the other reviews, I agree, too often they "don't have" items that are on the menu! Strange! Habitually asking for cash "to get a discount". And one day the owner was on the premise and they did not push the cash purchase... I would track sales to ensure accuracy in numbers! I have been here a few times while in the area. Rating is only based on the food I ordered (veg Biryani) and may/may not represent the overall rating of different food items available. Having word Biryani in its name, I was expecting delicious and aromatic Biryani. Unfortunately, it was a big let down. They didn't put an effort to fry the onions and they were not even thinly sliced. I had big chunks of carrot, capsicum (bell pepper) and potatoes as well. Biryani's aroma was missing and the spice level was a bit low. They were frugal in mixing different spices which gives Biryani its distinct aroma and flavor. I was able to see only 2 green cardamom in my Biryani and no other whole spice. They added orange food color as well in place of saffron, which looks artificial and adds no taste. Yogurt is an essential ingredient in preparation of Biryani and it was completely missing. Only positive thing was the quantity option. They had option of Lunch/Regular size. Lunch size is ideal for a person and Regular should be enough for 2 people with moderate diet. I ordered regular thinking that lunch size might be small but I was looking for quality rather than quantity. I may visit to try few other dishes, but never for Veg Biryani. read more

This is a pretty awesome Biryani spot in Cool Springs, TN. I dined here with some friends after work and it was a very nice time. The Boneless Chicken Biryani special was amazing! I will say that the vegetable samosa could use some serious work and had a not very pleasing combo of flavors that I wouldn't serve to anybody. Just skip the samosa for now and enjoy some awesome biryanis here and you'll love it. The staff was very cool and respectful. Also very well dressed! This place was suggested to me by a friend, so my wife and I decided to give it a try when we were in that part of Cool Springs. Overall the food was excellent and they would have earned 5 stars had the service been friendlier and more organized. For appetizers we both had vegetable Samosas which were really tasty and had the right amount of spuce. For entree I had the Boneless Chicken Biryani. The reviewer who stated that he hardly got any chicken baffles me. The portion size was generous with lots of chicken on top of a really nicely flavored rice. I usually don't take food home but this dish was so good that I could not resist packing it up in a to go box for lunch the next day. My wife had chicken tikka masala and she was delighted with the quality. I tried some of hers and thought the sauce was of a very high quality. All of this came to $27 which for an Indian meal other than a buffet is excellent. My one negative is the service. You order at the counter and then take a seat and wait for them to bring it out. The girl at the order desk was not that helpful and just waited for our order as if we were at a fast food burger place. My main gripe was the timing, my wife's order came out a good 5 to 10 minutes before mine. She was half way through when I was finally served. i also noted that people who ordered after me were getting their food. I am sure the food is made fresh but some communication as to why my food may have taken longer would have been helpful. This will not stop me going back since the food was well worth it. read more

Disappointing and horrible food. They don't even make real naan(To my surprise, it was a NaN bought from local costco). Biriyani are not really authentic in every way . Horrible food. Lassi was stale. Their chicken biryani is nothing but biryani rice with a layer of chicken curry on top of rice. Tasted really bad. All the people working there are just students and lack the least of empathy when a customer highlights any mistake. YOu are good at one thing though: when anyone (particularly indians) comes to you counter as ask for Chicken Dum or Natukodi ; suddenly you say all Biriyani is done. When asked when we can have it again, the girl speaks to kitchen person and says 30 or 40 mins and later the food is served in 15 mins. This happened to me twice. I really enjoy going to Bawarchi for a quick lunch! My favorite is the chicken biryani because the chicken is always tender, the spices that are used are traditional indian spices, and the aroma from everything blending together is delightful! I used to be a regular customer. There have been times when i gave eaten twice a week here but now the quality is not that good. They are not at all consistent. If you give an honest opinion about the food or question them, they wil argue with you in return (atleast that's what happened with me). Worst service . They spoiled my Birthday party .We ordered Butter Nan and they packed Pita bread with so called Paneer Tikka Masala ,hardly 2 paneer cubes in the watery gravy. I had read some of the reviews, so I made sure to check my order before leaving the restaurant. For a takeout place, it took a while to prepare the food, but I had called ahead so it was ready for me when I got there. We had the chicken biryani (they were out of the goat, as I heard that was their speciality), which was better than any my wife and I had tried in the Nashville area. We really liked the Chicken Tikka Masala, and I really liked the Chili Chicken (a bit too spicy for my wife, so we'll have to tone that down a notch, next time). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing I didn't care for was that the naan seemed to be nothing more than some heated pita bread - not at all like the naan I've had in India and in places in Nashville. I won't get that again, unless they improve drastically. Also, the prices seemed a bit high, but we did get decent portions. We will be back, particularly when we just want to pick something up and not go to a sit down buffet (more options and greater likelihood everyone can find something they really like). read more

My wife and I hadn't been here for several months but decided to give it a try today. We came on a Saturday at 115 pm and the restaurant was about 30% full. Looks like new people are here running the place. It is much cleaner than we remember but the server was nicest ever here. The food is well priced for the portion size and quality you get. My husband & I love the biryani here! I work in Franklin & love being able to place an order online to grab on my way home - very convenient. Service: When I arrived to pick up my food, it was ready & waiting to be bagged. The man working the counter had noticed that I specified names on my order, one shrimp biryani & one boneless chicken biryani, & was waiting to ask if I wanted them placed in a separate bag in case I indicated names because of an allergy. I was pleasantly surprised that he had picked up on such a small detail because this is in fact the case. Very impressed with customer service! Food: My husband served in the Middle East, living close to locals, and became accustomed to this type of food, so he loves to find a good biryani. After recently moving from Chicago, he's been searching & has declared this his favorite! The food was excellent! The biryani has large portions with the perfect amount of heat and spice.
