Bawarchi has great food - don't let the three stars fool you. The biryani bowls are great and really hit the spot. They are flavorful, filling, and the price is right. They also have a great variety of dosa and other dishes from throughout India. The food is made to order with fresh ingredients. The Hakka noodles is a great example of this. Five stars for the food, four stars for the prices, except as noted below. The dining area is simple fast casual, decorated with posters of Bollywood stars. There is a nice outdoor patio as well. It's clean, and even during rush times I have never had trouble finding a seat. Note: I usually eat late dinners and this is the only place I have been in Cool Springs where 8 PM was a busy time - like line out the door. Don't worry, the line usually moves fast. Two cons: 1) They have a large digital menu, however it is not up to date. Of my five visits, only twice have they had everything I ordered. Not a good hit rate for a digital menu, even if some missing items (not all) are limited to ensure freshness. Minus one star. 2) I ordered a family pack and picked an appetizer, included in the family pack. Then the bill came out higher than expected. The cashier neglected to tell me there was a $2 surcharge for a change of appetizer - and the appetizer only had a $1 price difference on the menu! It was remedied with a refund, but the surcharge was ridiculous and the lack of transparency was unethical. Minus one star. Barwachi is a great addition to the growing Cool Springs international food scene, and I hope they'll improve on the two cons above. read more

Decent spot but the consistency varies at times. They do push biryiani dishes. The menu can be pricey, be careful. One order can serve two, don't over do it. It's a very relaxed atmosphere don't get the fountain soda it's consistently flat. Go for the can or bottle beverages or simply water. You will need to cool down if you have a spiced dish. I ordered the Masala Omelet and vegetable samosa. The samosa ($1.25) was served with a dipping sauce. It was quite filled as well as flavorful. Spicier than expected but good. The omelet was a bit disappointing. Although it was tasty it had quite a bit of black pepper in it and, again, more heat than expected. It was served just an omelet, no rice or bread. Granted, it was only $4.99, but a small scoop of rice or small piece on naan would've been nice to cut some of the heat. I did not ask about heat levels but they also did not ask. I came lunchtime it's quite busy. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I would return (especially since I'll be working nearby) and would recommend. read more

The biryani is amazing. I don't think you will go wrong with that option however, I am giving 4 stars because my favorite dish was removed from the menu. It was called Andhra Chicken and it was the best thing since sliced naan. Please bring this back. Also, the chicken 555 could also use a little bit more flavors like it used to be made because it is not as good as it used to be. I really enjoyed my idlis sambhar, it was spicy and flavorful, 2 big idlis. The restaurant has a case of easy grab'n go items to select and since my samosa wasn't hot I suppose that it was one from the display case. The flavor was yummy but it wasn't crispy and made to order. It definitely go here for outstanding idlis. read more

If you like authentic Indian food, this is your jam. I went for lunch and had their Dosa Masala, and it was the best I have had since living in India. It was perfect. They also offer Norther Indian cuisine. The menu isn't set and they make new dishes every day. Run to this place! read more

Tried this place for the first time today. It was ok. I tried to order mulligatawny soup and he had no idea what I was talking about. I tried ordering mint chutney and same answer. Yes different regions have different food but chutney is universal. We ordered chicken korma which was quite good. I ordered Masala dosa, it was ok. Pancake was huge compared to fill, tomato chutney was good! Now the part that really killed me ,hence the 3 stars was the garlic naan. It was store bought bread, not homemade at all. What a fabulous little restaurant. I stumbled upon this place while getting my truck detailed. There were over 30 patrons inside when I walked in....it was packed!!! OMG!!! I had the boneless chicken Biryani, a recommendation from the gentleman at the register.....It was amazing ! He added a side of yogurt to tame down the spices along with a side of Jalapeno Saalan to heat things up. The Saalan is the way to go ;) The service was outstanding and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. After eating here twice, I really can't imagine eating anywhere else in middle Tennessee for south asian food. Located very near Cool Springs Galleria, Bawarchi is casual with counter ordering and table delivery. The menu is ambitious, with a wide variety of appetizer and entree choices. The food is the star. All of entrees were served hot and were rich and loaded with flavor, meats all tender without being overcooked. The rice and naan were both simple and delicious. As an added bonus, beverage selections are awesome. In addition to fountain soft drinks, there is a pretty good selection of bottled beers and they serve a decadent mango lasi, basically a non-frozen mango milkshake- crazy good! Prices are very reasonable and portion sizes ample. Although this restaurant is part of a chain, it does not feel like it. Excellent. read more

This eatery is a hidden gem in Cool Springs! I stumbled upon this Indian restaurant tucked away in an inauspicious strip mall slightly off the beaten path of Williamson County's restaurant mecca. The Basmati rice was perfect, the naan was warm and very soft, and the tikka masala sauce was so creamy and spicy it made my day. Wow! But is it authentic? 1) It tasted just like the food I ate when I lived in India for several months. CHECK 2) A number of my Indian friends have certified its authenticity. CHECK 3) There were 32 lunch patrons and 29 were Indian. CHECK!!! There are at least four Indian restaurants in this area, but obviously this is the go-to place! read more

A fine biriyani establishment in the heart of Franklin. As a South Indian, believe me when I say that this is authentic. The preparation is filled with efficacy and love for the food. For vegetarians, veg dum and paneer biriyani are simply superb. Non vegetarians can have an amazing variety of choice from tender chicken marinated and served in rice, appetizers such as Chicken 65 and they also have a rotating special menu. The food is served hot. The only disadvantage is when they are packed and unable to meet the requirements of the customer base in terms of time of service. To avoid this, please order in advance. Staff is very friendly and allows for mixing and matching of orders. They will also help you if some dish turns out not to your liking. We ordered the Chili Chicken, Mysore Masala Dosa, Paneer Tikka Masala, and Chicken Pepper Fry, as well as a few naans. It was so delicious! Compared to the many Indian restaurants that I've eaten at (and worked at) in the DC area, San Diego, and Denver, this place was spicier, less expensive, and offered a variety of dishes that I've never seen anywhere before! I don't generally eat Indian food; I don't like it. With that being said I was next door and the smell forced me to open the door and peek inside. Mmmm! They were not very busy so I walked up and asked the lady what she recommended for someone who did not like spicy at all and rarely ate Indian food. She was so very polite and understanding. She recommended (I think it was) the Bawarchi Chicken. It was still spicy to my standard, but I ate EVERY LAST BITE! To say it was delicious doesn't do the dish justice. She did tell me it would be a few minutes since everything was cooked fresh, but I still have waited longer at a McDonald's than I did here. Not knowing much about Indian cuisine, I had a lot of questions. The man working at the counter was very knowledgeable about each menu feature. He described several dishes in a way that made it easy to visualize and understand. My Dad and I ordered and sat down at a window table. There was only 2 other people eating in the restaurant. Our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and was hot and fresh. The food was delicious in every way. The combinations of flavor really amazed me.
