Slow flavorful food. Food is a punch in the face of flavor. I tried both the masala and the biryani, both are good. FYI: most dishes take between 15-25 minutes to cook. Make sure you have time to enjoy the food. We were the only 2 ppl there and like 5 take out orders happened while we were there. Staff are friendly. Place is very clean. I got the egg biryani, the egg is hard boiled but it's got some kinda coating that is a bit chewy to get through. You get 3 eggs.Without the coating I would have loved it. It was hard to cut even with my fork. The biryani is very flavorful and fluffy. Delicious food! We ordered take out here after a friend recommended it. She said, "everything we have ordered here has been amazing!" We also had a person in our group that is allergic to dairy, so we wanted to make sure her food contained no forms of dairy. The service staff was so helpful in talking through the menu items to make sure we had dairy free food for this person. We ordered garlic naan, Tikka Masala, Saag Mutton, and Dal Gosht! They all were incredible. The mutton and goat were bone-in, which made the flavor so delightful but also made us eat a little slower as we removed the bones. Is was great! We went here recently and the service was great. The server was super patient and friendly. The place had nice lighting and the mood was pretty chill. We got a chicken fry, royalu vepudu, and goat fry biryani. The chicken fry was really good. The prawns were alright and the biryani wasn't that good. Here is the story. We literally ordered food 10 minutes before closing, arrived there 5 minutes after they closed. When the call was made he informed us that it would be too late to eat inside but he will provide enough plates and utensils so we can eat out in the parking lot. For about 10 of us we ordered 2 chili chicken, 1 lamb biryani, 2 chicken biryani and 1 vegetable biryani. The food was tasty and abundant to fill 11 of us who were very hungry after bar hopping in the Palatine area. The owner was really a pleasure to work with. We ordered online and called us when out of politeness as he wanted to know the heat level on our dishes. Absolutely terrible food! It shouldn't matter what time of day you make an order, if the restaurant is consistent and, well, actually good at cooking....the food will always taste fresh. The food is surprisingly good here. I wasn't sure what to expect going in and I didn't think it would be so noisy at 2 on a Sunday afternoon. It's a family space with lots of families and children, so it's a happy volume. Food was outstanding all around. Gobi Manchuria was crisp and with a sauce reminiscent of Buffalo and not sweet (thankfully). The Avakai curry was even better. It's spicy by default, but not ridiculously so. We ordered it medium (with the server's warning that it's a Southern Indian dish and more spicy) and it was roughly medium-hot, a comfortable level. Very flavorful beyond the heat and the sauce had a nice texture as well. Against our better judgement (from a dietary perspective), we had the Double Ka Meetha dessert which, roughly translated, means double sweet and sticky dessert. (Actually, it doesn't mean that at all, sorry!) Anyway, it's something that they make on weekends and it's a very sweet honey bread with nuts and I can't do it justice. We enjoyed it. The food is overpriced for what you get. Chicken masala was very tasty, however you get a small container with 6 small pieces of chicken for $14.50. The butter naan was burned to a crisp. It was hard and even dipping it in the sauce didn't make it soft. I had to air out my car from smelling burnt just from transporting the food to my house. I wish I would go back and show them the naan. Very disappointing. The green chili chicken was dry. Overall, we paid $75 for not enough of food. In regard to the restaurant, it was the first time I ordered from there or visited the place. The first impression of walking through the door is not pleasant. The glass door is dirty, sticky looking and it looks like it has never been cleaned. To be honest, opening that door made me feel gross. It only makes me question the cleanliness on the inside. Liked buffets for its array of choices. But ethnic buffets places are hard to find. Mexican, hard find; Polish/Eastern European smorgasbord, if able to find, meat heavy though have one or two veg-friendly noodle, few app options, great salad & dessert spread, but extremely pricey; Chinese, truly ethnic ones hard to find & too Americanized-bland; Japanese, seafood dominant & veg-lite; Korean, meat-heavy & near veg-nil; Italian,maybe can find Pizza joint (miss Pizza Hut ones); & American, nearly extinct (Golden Corral) or expired (Souplantation, Sweet Tomatoes-family favorite , Old Country Buffet). Glad Indian Buffets re-starting back up! Growing up in South Tamil/Andhara Indian family, chili spiced home food was high even for most typical Indians. After marriage my wife got me more in tune in enjoying and more appreciating spice minus the heavy chili dependent tongue I grew up with. Below are breakdown rating of dishes tried, service, & discrete observations throughout the establishment. I'm an open minded grader. But tough to get 5 score, yet if decently palatable minimum 3, & must have really blown to get lower than 3. Last time I went here was about a couple years prior pre-pandemic for weekday lunch. It was just ok. Nothing memorable to warrant coming back anytime soon. March 26, 2023 Brunch Masala Tea: Mild flavor, tepid temperature and wished was hotter, so lost point. 3.75 Banana Shake: Real Banana, flavorful. Wish colder. 3.75 Egg Drop Soup: Temp-wise was perfect, spice-heat level high, good balance of broth, veg, and perfect swirl of egg. Awesome! 6 Ketchup: Not your corn-syrupy American version, decent & not overly masala flavor. 4 Mint Chutney: Not watery like most places & good, without being overpowering mint. 4.5 Raita: not watery & just right Indian-flavor-style creaminess, veg quantity, and salt level! 6 Veg Cutlet: Over-fried good non-potato veg mix &nice bits of nuts. 3.75 Karampodi Veg Ball: Very good balanced mix of non-potato veg, nice bits of nuts and delectable, superb balanced savory not overly sweet sauce! 6 Paneer 555: Sauce delectable, perfectly balanced savory sweet sauce with just the right amount of cashew bits & paneer didn't see battered, but did have good firm chew. 4 Sooji Rawa Punugulu: Not bad, not super, but average and decent. 3.75 Green Chili Noodle: If expecting it to be spicy, then oops? Likly made towards children taste buds. So to be fair. 3 Paratha: 1st time horrible 10"x2" very thick, cold, cardboard like strip(-1/5) .  2nds trip was what expected, round 6" diameter warm flaky, butter, tasty paratha(6) So even-outed. 3 Butter Naan: Dry,thin, hardly any butter. But then table next to me was not buffeting & ordering off menu got basket of very aromatic, very puffy, cloud-like, and glistening, dripping butter. Truly butter naan (6) Sorry, so. 3 Saag Paneer: Wasn't saucy spinach as most typical saag curries. Paneer, firm & good chew, but bit large had nice flavorful coat of chunky spinach but not enough spinach. 4 Jackfruit Dalna: Good chew bite-size jackfruit.Sauce excelled in its garlicy, gingery, curry balance flavor. 4.25 Egg Do-Payaja: 1st run, had no egg?! Took just sauce & was very good oniony-garlicy, & just right salt level factor. Notice during dessert trip it had boiled egg ! 2.5 Methi Malai Matar: This blew my moms matar paneer out of the water! SORRY MOM! This would be awesome with paneer! 6 Veg BirYani: Thorough coating of spice mix throughout rice & amount of mixed veg, though it seemed bit less on salt making it 3/5? But aha!! The super Raitha was the key! 4.25 Gajar Halwa: Watery flavor with no distinctive milky, cardamon, or nutty flavor expected. Missed! 1 Gur Ka Rasgulla: Used to plain rasagulla in clear cardamom infused lite syrup. Rasgulla was nicely firm good squeaky chew. The jaggery flavor bit much. 3.75 Kheer Jamun: Used to typical gulab jamun in its rosewater /cardamom infused semi-thick syrup, and was thrown off by kheer graininess. Jamun was just right. 3.75 Rasamala: Spot-on! Not too sweet, nice creamy, thick base Soft, firm & fluffy balls Bonus-loved little bits of true homemade-like milk-skin! 5.5 Service: If was Karen/Kevin, may've been annoyed that table runners servicing the next table, used my table placing to-be-served dishes & to-be-taken-away dinnerware. Didn't mind, but other patrons may. Runners were prompt clearing my table. Host inquired about food. Fair replenishing of buffet (sans egg curry!) 4 $wise: Bit high($25) vs other posted Indian Buffets ($14.95 to $20) Like 2+ options each of included drinks, apss & especially desserts. Overall solid 3.75+, but after review of others, reserve right to re-evaluate. read more

( $25 plus taxes and tips ) one drawback the buffet table is on the right hand corner by the wall , straight down . . Pros: The food was absolutely delicious! We had so many appetizers and entrees that I was too busy eating to take pictures. The Karampodi Kodi Chicken was an absolute favorite! It's super spicy but so addicting and delicious! If you don't like spice I wouldn't recommend that dish at all but that is a dish that, even though it clears your sinuses, is just too good. We also had some chili shrimp for an appetizer and that was really good too! The shrimp was cooked to perfection and the blend of spices were excellent. For the entree, we had hyderbadi Chicken dum biryani, paratha, ghee dosa, chicken Hakka noodles, and a lot of other dishes (we were a party of 20). I had personally tried the ghee dosa and Hakka noodles. I really liked how crispy the dosa was. The noodles were really good as well! Cons: I had soup in the beginning which was the sweet corn chicken soup. The chicken in the soup was a bit too off in my opinion. Also, most of the dishes had the same type of flavors to it and the cilantro element was a bit overpowering on each of the entrees and appetizers. I enjoyed my experience here! Great food and service. There was a good mix of north and south Indian food. I loved the biryani, idli, and dosa. The staff clearly works really hard, which is much appreciated. The food was flavorful and didn't have any issues with uneven cooking, bones, or lack of meat like other reviewers wrote. Pricing was fair compared to other Indian restaurants. I would return to try other entrees and biryanis. The service was very good. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, except for the spice level request (see below). The manager was fun to talk to. The service here was much closer to service at higher end restaurants, which was really impressive. I took off a star because the food wasn't spicy. I suspect that might be because my friend and I were clearly not Indian, so maybe the restaurant erred on the side of caution. This happens often when I dine at Indian restaurants, so I always ask for them to make it spicy. It was a bit disappointing that they held back on some of the spices despite my request, but not a huge deal. The food still tasted great. I'd like to return and try other menu items. First time ordering from this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The samosas were delicious and perfectly spiced. We also ordered the Butter Chicken and Green Chili Chicken. Both were delicious. Food was decent overall, some great dishes and some missed the mark. The goat vindaloo was tasty but the lid was not closed correctly for our carry out order and half of it spilled all over the take out bag and the rest of our order. All of our food was cold. Placed the order at 4:30 and was supposed to be ready at 6:30. It was not ready until after 7:00. So not sure why food was cold as we only live a couple minutes away. Always on the lookout for new Indian restaurants, I drove almost an hour to get here. Entered the restaurant and found it spacious and inviting. So great! The server was great, very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered chicken 65 and samosas as the appetizer. The chicken 65 was good, crispy, amalgamation of all spice and good bite sizes. I enjoyed it. The samosas were crispy but bland. Wasn't a fan of it. In the main course we ordered the Gongura Mutton Biryani. I would rate the taste as 3/5, the texture 3/5. The mutton was well cooked, but did. It blend in with the rice and spices. I also ordered Chettinad Chicken curry. The chicken was well cooked, but the spices had not percolated inside the chicken, so it tasted bland. The curry had also not mixed well with the spices etc, so had a rough taste to it. I did not enjoy this dish. Accompanying the curry was a bread basket. It included tandoori roti, garlic naan and plain butter naan. The naans were soft but uneven in thickness and therefore unevenly cooked. The tandoori roti was harder than what it should be. I did not enjoy the bread basket either. The restaurant was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, we were seated right away. They have a massive menu, there is a large selection of items. and the one thing that caught my eye was the Chicken Tikka Dosa. Now I have had many different type of Dosa's, but never with Chicken Tikka. We've had the best dosas ever. The potato filling had great flavor and the size of the dosa was massive. We also had samosa chaati which is smashed veg samosa topped with chickpeas sweet diced onions and a tamarind sauce: delicious! The service was excellent because there weren't too many people in the restaurant at the time. Some one came by often to check on what we thought of the dishes. The ambiance is quite nice. The flavor of the food here was good, but there are a handful of things that definitely bugged me. First, the good: we got 5 different dishes to share in the party. Goat Biryani, Butter Chicken, Lentil Vegan Dish, Saag Paneer, and a Vegetable/Aloo dish. The flavor was spicy but not too spicy, and each dish was true to the original Indian Recipe. The bad: service was not very good. We could barely hear our waiter because he was so soft spoken, and he could not speak English well. He also did not check on us frequently. The rice was not a good quality rice and was slightly over cooked and kinda mushy for basmati. The Goat Biryani, where we specifically asked if there were bones or not, and told no bones, actually did indeed have several tiny bones. There were also chicken bones in the butter chicken dish. Lastly, a few things that made me feel sketch about their food practices: a dark hair found in my food (the worst!!), there were a few gnats flying around the restaurant (mind you this is December too- how are there bugs?), and the bathroom had a leaking toilet with water all over the floor. Pricing was fair but not cheap especially for the type of food and the food quality. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant unless you are really lax on food prep practices. read more
