My friend ordered the vegan burger and did not want the bun. The guy at the register said he can't do that. Multiple times. Until he finally said ok he'll do it. Fine food, I prefer their neighbors, nice staff. I got the chicken rice bowl. Rice is a dry version of biryani, much less flavorful, just one noted. The chicken was grilled well but much more dry than I enjoy. Smothering it with garlic sauce helped a ton. It was a decent garlic sauce, not super strong though. The staff are very friendly and made sure we felt respected. My picky eater has spent his year expanding gus tastes and tonight he found one of his new favorite places. Unfortunately we found he has a wheat allergy, but their chicken is cooked without breading which is perfect for him. He likes the mild spicy flavor, but his favorite was the lemon herb. Also he likes the casava fries. He ate so much! My wife and I also enjoyed the chicken. It was so moist and tender, perfectly cooked. It was my first visit to Vasco's Peri Peri and the food here is fresh and flavor-filled. I love that you can choose from mild to very hot ("dynamite") I believe seasoning. I can't handle spicy foods so I was glad the lemon pepper flavor isn't over spiced. The cassava fries are unique, but the spice is a little hot for me. I still ate a couple because they are so good. Holy moly, what a flavorful experience! I really had no idea what to expect as I've never had Portuguese food before but because it's a fusion with Indian food at this restaurant, I decided to give it a try. First of all, they have the BEST vegetarian "wings" that I've ever had!! They were crispy and oh so delicious! We chose "medium" for the spice level and paired it with the white garlic sauce that's available on every table. Man, how I wish these restaurants were available in Texas! I also tried one of the wraps (can't remember the name of it, sorry ) with paneer as the protein and was very satisfied with that as well! wonderful new fusion spot in schaumburg got to try it out with my girlfriend through using some class pass credits. got ourselves a 1/2 chicken with lemon and herb sauce, medium sauced falafel rice bowl and a medium paneer bowl to go. delicious food and the chicken was so flavorful, cooked to perfection and just was so juicy i was shocked. all the food tasted wonderful and honestly what made the place the best is the staff and cleanliness of the establishment class pass is a little confusing to use but the manager of the business was very understanding and extremely polite. class pass orders were only to go but we didn't know. manager had said it's ok and allowed us to dine in. it's refreshing when a business cares about all its customers no matter the situation. he made sure we were taken care of and the food came out in excellent quality. such a satisfying meal and we are 110% coming back for more thank you vasco's peri peri! read more

Vasco's Peri Peri packs flavor and the heat. If you're not familiar with what Peri Peri is, its a seasoning, flavoring, and style of chicken that was originally produced by Portuguese explorers in Portugal's former Southern African territories, particularly Mozambique and its border regions with South Africa, and then spread to other Portuguese domains. And yes, I totally stole that last sentence from Wikipedia. Vasco's has a variety of stuff on their menu, including burgers, paneer, falafels, chicken and rice, and chicken sandwiches, to name a few. You go up to the front, order from either a paper menu or the overhead menu, pay, and grab a number and table. They will bring out the food for you. Pro-tip: the burgers, are not ones made with beef, to my son's dismay, but made of chicken. Why it's not called a chicken burger, I don't know. In either case, the sandwiches come in this very fluffy, very tasty ciabatta bread. I ordered the "Samarai Burger", which had peri peri chicken, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, samurai and garlic sauce. It was scrum-diddly-umptious! The got the chicken in a mild sauce, and it had the right kick. Note, one of my friends got the hot, and dude was in pain. I believe the hottest there is is "Dynamite" and you need to sign a waiver for it. No joke. I ordered a side of seasoned fries and it was pretty good. Food came out fast, chicken was mildly dry, but still tasty, and overall, great food. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located around the corner, opposite wall to the kitchen, the bathrooms are single-person bathrooms. Inside the mens, the urinal was broken, but kudos for the sign. As a lover of Peri-Peri Chicken, I was very excited to see Vaco's opened near me. This was a delivery order. Real problems with Doordash, but that's for another time. They have a nice menu - a mix of Portuguese, South African and Indian. Dinner was a chicken (medium hot), hummus and Pita, rice, and esquites. The food simply doesn't make the cut to others in the area. The Chicken: Nicely charred and not dry; a little spare with the sauce but good; and the pieces sizes were big. The esquites: nicely done. Great spicing; good but very small portion. Mexican mayo. This was probably the best item we had. Rice: cooked just right. It was very bland, though. Pita and Hummus: I reconsidered. The Pita was my favorite of dinner. The rice was also a tiny portion. Hummus: "Where's the hummus? There was probably a couple of tablespoons. (Notice a pattern?) Overall, I'd rather drive to Oakbrook. If you go, giving the quantity of food they serve, it's very expensive. Although, overall the food tasted good there just wasn't enough of it. read more

We hadn't been to Porto's/Port of Peri Peri in a while. It was a place we had a love/hate relationship with, because while the food was super good, the service was often terrible. Recently my craving for peri peri reached the point that we were willing to pay them another visit, but alas, Yelp informed me that they had CLOSED. I saw elsewhere that they may yet re-open in Schaumburg under new management, but I digress. In the meantime I was worried about how I was going to get my peri peri fix. Luckily for me, a single Yelp review clued me into the fact that I could still find peri peri at this same location in the form of Vasco's Peri Peri. Phew! I could still get my peri peri fix and try out a new restaurant at the same time. A quick visit to Vasco's website revealed a menu that was even more extensive than the old establishment, so my husband and I were spoiled for choice. Vasco's is definitely a place we will need to visit again - and maybe even a few times more - to really get a feel for. There are just so many tempting menu items, but only two stomachs between us. For our first visit, my husband got the lamb kofte burger and I got Vasco's "Unreal" Wings (which are meatless). Usually my peri peri order consists of a spinach paneer wrap, but this time I decided to give the unreal wings a try because I was just so happy that Vasco's was offering this chicken-free option. Back in the day the "mild" sauce was reasonably spicy, so I went with that sauce for my wings as well. Additionally, we got the Peri Mogo (cassava fries) as a side to share. I am also happy to report that Vasco's is still selling the legendary Hank's Root Beer! I grabbed one of those for another day, and a Limca to try today (it tastes like a slightly better Sprite). My husband's lamb burger was really tasty, flavorful, and had something of a faint Indian spice profile. It also had a pretty hot and spicy sauce, which is good in my view, but a little bit of a trial for him. He still liked the burger well enough to eat the whole thing, runny nose and all. I can't say I loved my wings too much. The mild sauce really wasn't spicy at all, and given how much broader the "spice spectrum" is here at Vasco's, I guess that makes sense - I should have gotten at least the medium sauce or higher. I also thought the wings were a little salty. I am glad I had two sauces on the side for dipping. One was like a ranch/garlic mayo and the other was like a chili mayo. The cassava fries were really good! I liked them much better than at the old place. So far the customer service has made a much better impression (though it is not hard to clear Porto's very low bar). The counter service was polite and attentive. It took them about 20 minutes to make our food fresh to order. I certainly hope Vasco's will get plenty of business so we can continue to enjoy peri peri when the mood strikes. There are so many things from their menu that I want to try, so we'll have to visit again soon. read more

This place is new, the minute you walk in you can feel a breath of modern take on the ambiance. Great touches with the wall art and color scheme. I ordered the chicken tenders with rice. The chicken was tender, moist and a good amount of sauce on each tender. The quality is beyond expectations and the rice was nice. We went to Nando's peri peri in Naperville before and we liked Portugal-inspired chicken there. We saw this place and wanted to try another "peri peri" chicken. We arrived at 11am on Monday, when they just opened. No customers there, we could order and get a table right away. Bathroom was clean, no music in the shop, so we could enjoy the meal nice and quiet. Our order: Stacker chicken burger with Vasco Rice. (Mild sauce) Veg stacker burger with falafel (lemon herb sauce) Chicken burger - 3.5 stars out of 5 Chicken had a good smoky charcoal flavor but was a little overcooked, so it was dry. Buns were fluffy and chewy, it could soak up a lot of sauce from vascoslaw garnish (their coleslaw salad) which I liked. Vasco rice - 4 stars out of 5 Rice was long grain steamed rice, which was gently spiced, and finished rather drier than wet. I liked it. If it had more punch of flavors, it could be 5 stars, I think. They offered us two complimentary sauces, which were garlic cream sauce and chili sauce. Both sauces had a good flavor and matched well with each other. I did put both sauce and vascoslaw into the rice together, oh my god, that was good! Veg stacker burger with falafel - 4.5 stars out of 5. 0.5 minus point was my personal feeling that "missing a little bit of punch". But this was the meal of the table. Loved it, and would order it again. I like this was more like Portugal - Indian fusion dish. I am not really familiar with falafel in my daily life, but this was one of the best I have ever had. This location used to be a Porto's Peri Peri, but now it's called Vasco's Peri Peri. The interior is largely the same, down to the colorful Porto's plates. The menu items are similar, with some unique Vasco's items. We ordered chicken tenders w/ lemon & herb sauce, a lamb kofte burger, cassava fries, and far far (colorful, fried crunchy loops). The tenders were smaller than Porto's, but they gave 9 pieces instead of just 7. Vasco's lemon & herb sauce wasn't as flavorful as Porto's. Sadly, the white sauce also was not as flavorful as Porto's white sauce; the garlic punch wasn't there. I should also note that they wouldn't mix mild sauce with lemon & herb, so I had to go with the latter only. Other than that, the tenders were decent. The lamb kofte burger was slightly spicy and very flavorful, though rather pricey at $15. The cassava fries were good and cut differently than Porto's cassava fries, but the regular size is a pretty small serving (although reasonably priced at $3). The far far were decent; it's just an Indian snack food, nothing special, but we got those for my son and he liked them. Overall, not bad, but not as flavorful as Porto's. 3.5 stars overall. read more

Vasco's is my favorite restaurant in the Schaumburg area and if you know the area, there are MANY restaurants to choose from! First, let's talk about the food. I am OBSESSED with the vegetarian options, and particularly the Un-Real Wings. You can choose your level of spice--I usually go with lemon and herb but the hotter ones are great too. The garlic dipping sauce is to die for--I always request extra! The rice is flavorful and well-cooked. I love the paneer, the falafels, the hummus, just seriously all of it is so incredible. My mouth is watering as I type this review, for real! The service is quick and friendly. I normally do takeout since I live close by, and always get greeted with positivity and recognition when I walk in the door. There are ample tables and space inside for those who want to dine in, including bigger groups. It's located in a strip mall so parking is never an issue. Next time you're turning in for Taco Bell, go to Vasco's instead--sorry TB, you know I love you boo! But Vasco's is unique and delicious and you should not miss it. read more

Went here for lunch, service/reception could have been better. Only one table was occupied but all but 1 tables still had leftover food from prior customers. I ordered 4 piece Chicken tenders, they were huge pieces. I picked the 'hot' sauce which was amazing and had good spice. I think I would go the next sauce up if I were to get a pita sandwich or a wrap. Tenders were dry, they could have thinned them out a little for even cooking probably. I walk in and noticed signs everywhere that say "sauces in the restaurant are for dine in customers only, do not take sauces out of those bottles, if you are seen doing so, you will be charged" am I the only one who finds this kind of sign outrageous? I go to order and asked the guy if I can have chicken tenders and he asked what sauce would I like on it? I said I would like medium sauce but I'm sharing with kids so can you put the sauce on the side? The answer I got..."we cannot put sauce on the side because it is a secret recipe" wtf does that mean? The husband and I stopped in this week for the first time because we were in the area and needed to grab a late lunch. Having never been there before, we were a little leery of what we would find because we have a lot of dietary boxes we need to tick. We eat low carb / keto which means little to no sugar, starch, or grains so no breading or potatoes or rice. Meat and green veggies are usually a safe bet unless sugar is added via rub or sauce. Atmosphere was casual but contemporary, and clean. Happy to see Coke Zero in the serve-yourself machine, but a little bit disappointed no iced tea option. Nutritional info was not readily available, so I wasn't sure if the spicy sauces were sweet-hot or vinegary-hot. I went with the lemon and herb sauce (usually a safe keto bet) on a breast & wing combo, side of coleslaw, and appie of halloumi for us to split. Hubs ordered six wings with mild sauce and a side of steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrot coins). He would have been happier if there was an eight- or ten- wing option. Six is a very small meal for him, but twelve is too much. Pricing was the higher end of reasonable, but not out of line with the cost of everything lately. Food came out quicker than I expected, within 10 minutes for sure, but it was not crowded at 3pm. Dine-in was served on real plates with real silverware, which was a nice surprise in a strip mall joint. No lids for the drinks, so maybe bring a sippy cup if you have littles - they DO have a kids menu. The food was REALLY good, and plated appealingly. Portion size was medium to large. The meat was tender and charred at the edges but still juicy inside without being mushy (which I HATE). The lemon sauce was phenomenal. At first glance, I thought "that's not enough sauce!" But it actually was more than enough. Hubs dipped his halloumi in my sauce to try it and there was still plenty of extra at the end of the meal. The slaw was good, but nothing different than almost every slaw out there. The medium sauce on the wings was on the upper end of spicy for our weak palates, but deliciously flavorful and thankfully, not sweet. The garlic sauce they brought to the table was AMAZING. So good, in fact, that we bought a container of it to bring home. We dabbed it on the chicken, on the halloumi, and on the veggies, and it brought the already-wonderful flavors to the next level. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options (meat-free burgers, falafel, and wings), but I would like to go back to try the lamb chops and maybe their salad (sans corn, hold the olives). It will be hard not to order more of that amazing chicken though! We live 30 minutes west, but we will be happy to make a detour to eat there again. With the way we eat, if there were anything I would change, it'd be to have more than one salad option, and offer a lettuce wrap on the sandwiches instead of a pita or bun. Plus perhaps a spicy green bean side, or cold cucumber salad, or chili-seasoned brussels sprouts, lemon pepper zucchini? - Lower carb veggie options, really. I went with 5 stars (Great) on my review. When we said hello, he essentially seemed bothered that we were disturbing whatever he was doing with his phone. The other guy there also was rather curt and not particularly pleasant. The food itself was not bad though. I had the leg/thigh with herb sauce which was relatively tasty with the fries. The other party had chicken breast with no sauce but liked it. Ambience is ok.
