Came here for dinner with a friend. Made a 5:30pm reservation through OpenTable and was offered a complimentary champagne toast option when booking. We had our choice between prosecco or blanc de blanc. We ordered one of each. I also got a passionfruit mojito mocktail. I informed the server I had celiac / gluten allergy. He seemed very knowledgeable. We shared the burrata. They unfortunately do not have GF bread but offer GF pasta. I had the GF penne alla vodka. The entree comes with your choice of salad or soup. I had the side salad with Italian dressing. The server indicated all dressings were GF. He said everything would be safe for me. My food was delicious. My friend had the GF chicken Alfredo. She said the pasta was really good. They have a few GF options for dessert - we opted for the GF chocolate cake. Happy Hour Review! Chicago Prime Italian offers happy hour in the bar area daily till 6pm. Their menu has discounted bites, wines, mixed drinks, and martinis. My husband and I each got a martini for $10; espresso martini and dirty gin martini. Both were very well balanced yet spirit forward. For food, we shared the Pasta Three Ways which also came with a bread basket to share. The plate lets you sample their most popular pasta sauces: vodka with rigatoni, marinara with penne, and alfredo with cavatappi. This was a good portion for a quick bite. Had booked bridal shower, and from the beginning Carol Denotto was kind, helpful, accommodating and always willing to go thd extra mile. The food, service and ambience was spectacular. Special shout out to Alexi, Alejandro and especially Rosie who did an amazing job at keeping everything just right. Carol eased my mind when I had to make decisions. Another facility wasn't allowing us to complete the bridal shower theme of having a flower cart with actual flowers. Carol had no problem with it. I took my husband to prime Italian to celebrate his birthday. He said the lasagna was the best he's had . The minestrone was delicious!! It had so much flavor and quality veggies without the pasta . There are expectations that come with a restaurant when they have a certain price point. There is a huge disconnect with Chicago Prime Italian. The quality of their food does not match the price points. We celebrated Mother's Day here and split the Shrimp De Jonghe appetizer (forgot to take a picture). That was delicious. The sauce was very flavorful. If I do ever find myself back here, I would just order this and a salad. For mains, my mom and I ordered the chicken Marsala, my husband ordered the veal parmigiana, my brother ordered the lobster ravioli, and my dad just had a wedge salad and calamari. My brother said he enjoyed his dish, my dad was fine with his, nothing above and beyond, pretty average, the chicken Marsala and veal parmigiana was average. The highlight of the dish were the veggie sides of broccolini and organic veggies, and the mashed potatoes that came with the chicken Marsala were delicious. The dishes themselves - chicken Marsala is one of my favorites. They charge $34 and I've had better chicken Marsala for under $20. I feel like I've read somewhere they make everything fresh and in-house, my sauce didn't taste that way. It tasted like it was pre-made and wasn't velvety smooth like good chicken Marsalas I've had. The texture of the sauce was just very off, and the flavors were nothing to scream home about. My husband was disappointed in his veal parmigiana. The red sauce wasn't that great, and the pasta was very dry. If it's true this was all homemade in house, they need better protocols. Nothing tasted like it was made from scratch. This was the only restaurant that had full availability for us to book a last minute Mother's Day reservation (shame on us for waiting until last minute), and I can see why. I would be shocked to see this restaurant still here in 10 years if I'm being honest, unless they up their game. We love splurging for special occasions, and this place is just not it. Nothing was terrible, just average. No restaurant should be charging premium prices for average food. Service was average with some hiccups, which is totally fine. We weren't upset at all - forgot to bring us a couple of things, took about a half hour to receive our salads which seemed a little long, then the wait for our mains did feel a bit long. We know things can happen, but again, when you charge a premium price, that comes with expectations. This is more of a reflection on management than the wait staff. Would I go back? Only if one of my friends or family members said they really wanted to go. I wouldn't willingly go out of my way to eat here again. read more

Turns out it was "sparking wine" was bad and needed a new bottle, Food was good, but the organization was awful and was a mad house to get food. Only half the food was labeled too so you had no clue what you were eating. The waitstaff was in an awful mood as well and could barely speak English besides the hosts. AWFUL Mother's Day! My boyfriend and I came here for New Year's Eve and had an overall great experience! We had a reservation for 7 (it was strictly by reservation only), and had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. It was super busy so I imagine that didn't help. Our waiter provided incredible service and the food was excellent quality, so we had a really good time and I would definitely come back in the future despite the wait. We ordered the bruschetta to start and it was just perfect. I ordered the lobster tail and steak with vegetables on the side for dinner. The lobster tail is huge and delicious (they offered a 9oz and 8oz). I ended up ordering the 8oz with my steak (it was a better deal). I ordered my steak medium well and it was cooked perfectly until I got more towards the middle. No big deal! It was so good regardless and we had already eaten quite a bit of food. My boyfriend really loved the rigatoni allá vodka. He ordered it with the Italian sausage and he was raving about it! Another 5-star experience at Chicago Prime Italian! I met an old friend and we dined the night away. The service is always primo at the Chicago Prime Restaurants (there is also a Chicago Prime Steakhouse about a mile away). We had reservations and were seated right away, presented with menus, and offered drinks. My friend had a glass of Malbec and I stuck with soft drinks. We ordered our meals, I had the branzino and my friend had a chicken salad. Both came with side salads. The branzino was fantastic. It was Sautéed with Asparagus, Sun-Dried Tomatoes, Fresh Herbs & Garlic White Wine Sauce and was an absolute hit. For the salad, I had their vinaigrette dressing, which was probably the best I've had. Their prices are a little high for what they offer, though. I stopped here with a few friends for a drink on a Saturday and we sat at the bar. The vibes are of a cozy, old school Italian restaurant. Lights are dim, kind of makes you feel like you're at a speak easy. Christian was our bartender and I ordered an espresso martini. It definitely had me wired for the rest of the night. It was smooth with a very strong coffee taste. He was telling us he won an award for his espresso martini a few years back, this version is not on their menu however he was kind and made that 1 for me. This was genuinely the best I've had in years. The desserts were unbelievably fresh. We actually split the sampler and too half home. I'd do that again. My husband was here for a company dinner recently, and he RAVED about it, so this was the place he decided to take me for Valentine's Day since I've never been here before. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! When you get to the parking lot, there is valet at the main entrance area, but we decided to park ourselves because the parking lot really isn't that big and there were tons of spots when we got here. Although we didn't use valet, the guy working valet was extremely nice and held the restaurant door open for us. When we walked in, I noticed how large the dining rooms looked and how it looked pretty elegant inside. The hostesses were friendly, and we, of course, had a reservation. We didn't come here on Valentine's Day, but instead came the Saturday evening before, and they still were serving the Valentine's Day menu specials. We were seated within 5 minutes of waiting by the hostess desk, and throughout our entire meal, we had a great waiter who took awesome care of us and consistently checked in on us and filled our water glasses. For my drink, I ordered a glass of Moscato, and for my entrée, I ordered the salmon alfresco. The salmon was melt-in-your-mouth delicious and had a wonderful pan seared crust. It came with asparagus, which was also cooked perfectly. In my opinion, I did love my food, but I ended up taking off a lot of the tomatoes on top of the salmon because they overpowered the dish a bit (and tomatoes aren't my favorite anyway), so next time I'd probably ask for easy or no tomatoes. My husband ordered the bone-in Kansas City strip, and he really enjoyed it. I tried it too, and it had such a good pan seared crust with tons of seasoning. We then ordered the chocolate lava cake, which turned out to be extremely small, but it was light, fluffy, and had ice cream on top. When it comes to pricing, it's at par with most fancier places. My salmon was $38, and my husband's 18 oz steak was $64. Soup or salad came with our entrées, and I ended up choosing their soup of the day, which was the roasted bell pepper soup, and I wish I had more of it because it was amazing. The cup was very small. My husband was also able to choose a soup or salad, and he chose a Caesar salad. FYI, all entrées come with soup or salad. You also get a complimentary basket of delicious bread with cheese and oil for the table. One thing I would say is that there really isn't a dress code and that it wasn't too enforced when we were there. There were plenty of couples in more casual clothing, including jeans, flannel shirts, and even baseball hats. My husband and I were much more dressed up, and I wore a skirt and dressier shirt with black heeled boots, so I guess it really fluctuates. The staff members are dressed more dressy, though, which adds to the aesthetic. Overall, we had a wonderful experience here. When I inevitably come here again, I'd love to try the different pastas because their menu has many options. I also want to try their grilled calamari because my husband said when he tried it with his coworkers, it was amazing. read more

Went in today for mothers day celebrations. We went with menu not the brunch. They were very busy! Brunch was on one side and the table distributed all around but One thing that I didnt like was that if I was not doing brunch, and had reservations ahead of time and were dining in regular, why we had to wait 30min for our table to ready, along with other guests who were brunching. Other than that our experience was very good Waited for 30min Place was very busy. We ordered the mothers day special vodka drinks-they were a failure for our table. We order mushroom and bruschetta for appetizers. Mushroom was a big hit. We all loved it! We ordered shrimp pasta, cheese ravoli, gnocchi and fettuccine. They all were a big hit. The event planner worked with us to find the right room at the best price point -it worked out fairly well but to our surprise the end time was cut short because the manager decided to book a second party. To our surprise we were told .you have four hours and you have to leave. Seems enough but he didn't leave any buffer room so when time came and we thought a cup of coffee would be nice for our guests we were told to leave because the others were waiting . How unfortunate . It could have easily been resolved by leaving a buffer time and allowing us a little quiet exit instead of having the waiting folks upset because we were keeping them waiting. read more
