The food is impeccable. But the staff seems really inexperienced. I've been here several times and have had a different server every time and they have all been equally unknowledgeable and spacey. My first time here I had to ask for a glass of water 3 times before I gave up and just ended up never getting one. The food really truly is good, if you know what you're ordering. The menu is not in any way "American friendly" by that I mean there aren't descriptions for anything and nothing is in english, and don't bother asking the staff because they just straight up don't know. In their defense they seem underage. Definitely worth coming for the food but I recommend take out so you don't have to deal with their waiters, also do your research prior because the staff wont be able to help you. read more

Generally I do not leave negative reviews, but the food here was shockingly bad. We love Indian food and have eaten authentic Indian food. Our food was ordered for takeout at a set time and arrived 5 minutes early. We live minutes away. The food was COLD when we got it home. Of the five entrees we ordered, one was edible. The staff here was very nice, and the service was fast. But the food was so incredibly spicy! I love spicy food normally, but had seen other reviewers warn about this, so I ordered the mildest they could make it. It was still so hot that I could only eat a few bites. My husband was pouring sweat trying to eat his! Good flavors but so hot it's hard to even eat. Doesn't justify spending that much money for a meal, in my opinion. read more

Omg!.... I love authentic ethnic food and this doesn't disappoint. Had lunch here for the third time in a month and it was cooked perfectly and super tasty. Had lunch here today for the first time, the food was awesome. We had the lunch special which was way more than I could eat. You get a variety of different dishes served on a tray, so you kind of get your own mini buffet served at your table. Every single dish was amazing. Indian food is probably my very favorite cuisine- this place NEVER disappoints. I'm vegan and my boyfriend is a meat eater, which can get in the way of our dining experiences. Outstanding! The service is really good and the food is beyond amazing. My fiancee got the chili shrimp appetizer. I tried a little of the sauce, because I'm a wimp with spicy food. Okay, was the food bad? No. It wasn't. There just wasn't enough of it. At all. Seriously, the portions are a joke. We ordered two of the entrees, both were about the size of a normal side dish. Maybe we just ordered the wrong thing, but I doubt it. Out of the 5 pieces of meat in the Gougora Mutton, 2 of them were practically solid bone covered in sauce. The Mauli Kofta consisted of about 4 small meat-ball size pieces and about a cup of sauce, definitely not $12 worth of food. Be careful with the spices, because even the "mild" is still relatively hot. Wait staff were difficult to understand: NOT because they had an indian accent, but because they spoke so softly and stood 4 feet away from the table. I really would like to go back, but paying about $36 for two people to go home hungry isn't my idea of a good time. read more

Treat yourself to awesome, authentic Indian fare! This place is a winner - three thumbs up! Wandered in on the advice of friends (who are of Indian dissent) and couldn't have been more pleased. Started off with several appetizers - my fav was cauliflower and onions deep fried with some amazingly flavorful and perfect heat. (Warning: food spice/heat is not dumbed down for the restaurants geographic location so "eater beware" if you can't take the heat - order mild and stay in the shallow end !!! ). Now anybody who reads my reviews religiously - and I know you are out there Mom... You raised a boy who likes the heat. I wasn't disappointed. I also enjoyed the Spring Daashi (no heat at all) which is like a pancake with sautéed veggies rolled up into it (enough to share ) and awesome dipping sauce. I also tried my standards by which I judge all Indian cuisine (most likely incorrectly :) ) - chicken tikka masala and saag paneer... The first is tandoori chicken cubes cooked in a creamy tomato based sauce that screams "I have butter in me too" - outstanding. Similarly the Saag which is Indian cheese cubes in Paneer which is like a creamed spinach was off the charts - both are fantastic over rice and meant to be scooped up with hot fresh naan (Indian flatbread). Just for kicks I also ordered a sampler plate because I wanted to try goat ... Also amazing ! I recommend a sampler plate (I don't recall what it's name is but ask because the servers are amazingly helpful ) it has little dishes of about six items and dessert - outta this world. I absolutley love the food they serve. It is always tasty and comes right away! I can only give 4 stars due to the service I have had in the past. Sometimes we have to wait to get our check and once I waited 1 whole hour before someone came and gave us a check. We asked around and they said they would be right back, but noone was around. It wasnt until our server/waitress was walking out of the front door to leave for the day, that she remembered she still had customers. Other than that this place is very delicious! I recently dined at Bawarchi with a friend. We ordered a Biyarni bowl and the chicken tikka masala. The flavors of both dishes were very good. The portion of the tikka masala was small for the money. The Biyarni came in a very large bowl with a copious amount of rice, but little chicken. I recommend increasing the portions of the key ingredients in the dishes, and/or serving a vegetable with them. A water pitcher on the table would be appreciated. The price of a local beer seems steep. Despite these recommendations, in the end I was pleased with the tasty food. I will return for another meal. read more

Bawarchi is nothing short of amazing! Five of us went to dinner and decided to try as many things as we possibly could. We started with Baby Corn Machurian which was quite tasty. The next thing that appeared at our table was the Chicken Tikka Dosa. Until now, I had to wait until we visited family in Houston to get my fix of South Indian food. The dosa (big crepe) was filled with Chicken Tikka and served with coconut, tomato, and tamarind chutney. The spicing on each of the chutneys was quite unique from each other, and that trend continued with the rest of our dinner. Chicken Vindaloo, Butter Chicken, and Guthi Vankaya/Bhagara Bhaigan (eggplant) were next. All were served with rice and of course, we had to have naan to accompany our meal. Each dish was different and very delicious. Our final entree appeared, a vegetable Biryani, and sadly we were too full to enjoy it--we packed it home and I am sure it will make a wonderful lunch tomorrow. We all like our food spicy, but elected to have it seasoned medium. Things were all spiced well, we perhaps could have handled medium spicy, however, it was a nice way to get accustomed to the spiciness level of a new restaurant. Medium ensured that our dishes were spicy, but not so much that you couldn't taste the subtleties of the other spices. The other bonus of Bawarchi is that the majority of their items are gluten-free. Aside from the naan, everything that we sampled tonight was gluten-free, a bonus for our gluten intolerant member. Our service was excellent. The hostess that seated us was very helpful in explaining the menu to us and offering suggestions. Our food arrived as it was cooked, and it provided a nice, steady meal without the table becoming inundated with dishes. The owner also stopped by as well to answer any questions with the menu and then later to ensure that we were enjoying our meal. Without a doubt, we will be back. The only problem will be deciding what to do eat! Do we have the dishes that we loved tonight, or do we branch out and try something new from their extensive menu? The only solution is to come often, such a problem to have. read more

Probably the best Indian around here. So nice to have a place closer to the heart of town with different food offerings. Not wild about the distracting giant TVs in a restaurant for Indian cuisine but overall, we all liked it. I'm guessing those people giving this restaurant five stars have never eaten Indian food. Being a huge fan of Indian food I was expecting more from this place considering the reviews it has received. Fort Collins has a couple of Indian restaurants, none of which are amazing but are definitely better than this place. My first complaint, portion size. We ordered two meals, two breads and soup to go. With our order we received two small 3/4-full styrofoam boxes of rice, totaling about 1.5 cups. Not enough for one meal let alone two. The soup was about 1 to 1.5-cups as well. The bread was cold and tough. You could almost pull your teeth out biting into it. The taste was very Americanized. Too sweet and too much cream. We ordered heat level 5 which basically was NO heat at all. Our bill was over $40 and this was the most expensive and worst Indian meals we've had in Colorado. For Fort Collins stick to the Taj Mahal. In Denver go to Little India. They're a WORLD of difference because they're not a chain, but actual local restaurants with family influence. read more

Visiting Fort Collins and stopped by Bawarchi; since then, been there three times in one week. Food served is in huge portions and with less waiting time. Very good customer service, especially the young lady in spectacles ( sorry didn't get her name). The ambience is clean, bright and inviting. A variety of both south and north indian food items. This is the first restaurant where chai was served almost instantly after ordering and it tasted very fresh. Will return again on my next trip to town. read more

Got the goat khorma and plain naan. Khorma was over salted, but flavorful and with the actual "sauce" being nice and thick. The goat was also tender and so good. BUT. There were 6 different small pieces of bone in the curry that I bit down onto! No meat on it, just bones floating in the sauce. That was awful and I had to toss it for fear of breaking a tooth. Honestly I'm not sure if you can ask for it "bone-free" but I don't trust them. Unfortunately they taste pretty good but have bad quality control. read more

Most Americans are accustomed to North Indian food (saag, naan). Bawarchi has those things but specializes in biryani and South Indian food, which is much more rice-based. Having spent time in South India, I'm delighted to have a place to get dosa and idly and sambar. Don't miss the gobi Manchurian, which is an Indo-Chinese appetizer that remonds me a little of tangy General Tso's cauliflower. (Sounds weird but it's delicious.) The biryani has a lot of rice, less meat, and a hard-boiled egg, which is traditional but might seem odd if it's not what you're expecting. read more
