I informed Melody that it was my first time having a facial, and she asked if I wanted her to talk through each of the steps she was going through or if I wanted total relaxation. Given it was my first time, I preferred to have Melody talk me through what was going on. Throughout the entire process, I felt relaxed and comfortable. Melody appears very well versed in what she's doing. Overall, I had a great experience. Of course, my face was a bit red afterwards from the extractions, but after a couple days my face was feeling and looking a lot better than before.

What reminded me to post it was another compliment on my beautiful skin that I just received from a total stranger while waiting in a doctor's office. I'm in my early 70's. I don't look it. Yah, some of that is genes but a lot is due to care. I *know* a good facial; I've had many over the years. Most are mediocre, or just adequate, or suffer from a poorly designed environment. The two times I found incredible estheticians, I saw each for years (until I couldn't bc of location/life changes), even though they were rather stern (imagine a brusque Russian affect ). Luckily their location was not terrible to find, as there was ample street parking. When I walked in, the warm and friendly receptionist greeted and made me feel right at home. Throughout my visit, Shannon shared me with her wealth of knowledge of the various AHAs as well as retinoid products. I love that we were able to geek out on which products to use to achieve brightening effects. She also made some recommendations based on my skin type such as mandelic acid instead of glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation. Without trying to oversell me her products, she suggested that I try over-the-counter Nizoral antifungal wash for possible white-heads that pop up occasionally as well as prescription tretinoin since I had a few hyperpigmented spots that I wanted to fade/brighten. Given it was my first time there, she did allow me to use my credit card to pay but informed me that she only accepted cash or checks to help keep operating costs down. Since my back issues were minor based on her assessment, I did not schedule a return visit. I so very much appreciate her sound and scientifically backed advice (I also follow various certified dermatologists on IG for general aging skin care maintenance); I definitely will be making a visit if future skin issues arrive!

The service felt amateurish and inadequate: minimal effort beyond basic cotton-pad cleansing, no real massage or care, only one warm cloth at the very end, followed by being left alone on the table for a long time. Having had many facials, this was by far the most disappointing and unprofessional. Save your money--skip the Groupon here. Proper customer service, communication, passion, and trust-building are essential for a great experience, and none were present. Mind you, I have a dark brown hair color. Some time has passed and I've consulted multiple hair stylists and they all confirmed I DO NOT need bleach to get my roots the same color.
