It's our first time here. I took my niece for a root canal. The whole process was fast and done in less than an hour and a half. My niece said the experience was fast and easy. It wasn't even that painful to her. She said the dentist was super nice and made sure she was at ease. Dio was super nice and welcoming. I had a root canal done here and unfortunately experienced complications afterward. At my recent visit, I was told the tooth now needs to be extracted. This was very concerning for me, as I was not expecting this outcome and did not feel I received a clear explanation of what caused the failure or whether there were alternative options to save the tooth. I also felt uncomfortable being asked to proceed quickly with additional treatment and charges without having enough time to fully understand my situation or seek a second opinion. At this point, I am in the process of consulting another provider to better understand my options. I hope the office can improve communication, transparency, and patient support in situations like this. read more

After cracking a tooth with an old crown, my dentist told me I needed a root canal--right before I was scheduled to fly out of town in two days. The stress was real. I called Bay Area Endodontics and was so relieved when someone answered right away. They arranged for a same-day consult in San Carlos, and then scheduled my actual treatment at the San Mateo office the very next day. The coordination between offices was flawless. At San Mateo, the team was just as professional and kind. Dr. Sohn handled the procedure with such skill and care. Everything was clearly explained, including imaging results and treatment options. I don't have dental insurance, so I really appreciated that the full cost was discussed up front--no surprises. The front desk, the assistant, and Dr. Sohn all made me feel cared for and respected. The level of professionalism and compassion really stood out. Hopefully I don't have to come back for another root canal--but if I ever do, I'll be calling Bay Area Endo again without hesitation. I spent 2 days at the Bay Area Endodontics office in San Mateo trying to have a root canal done. The endodontist was very pleasant and I do not want to name him at this time. He was unable to complete the root canal because the root canal was infected. I paid $2500 for this unsuccessful procedure. I later went to my dentist and was shown the X-ray of this tooth. I could easily see the infected area of the root so obviously the endodontist should have been also able to see the infection. I talked to the business manager of the practice re: refunding my $2500 but to no avail. Today I am filing a civil suit against Bay Area Endodontics in San Mateo. It's unfortunate that one has to resort to a lawsuit for something so trivial and so obvious. I have 2 friends who had a similar experience with an infected root canal. In one case the endodontist extracted it and in the other case the endodontist tried a root canal which was unsuccessful and ultimately refunded my friend's payment. read more

With a dearth of in network endodontic providers in the North Bay I made the trip down to San Mateo to have what I thought was going to be a root canal redo. Check in was easy and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Dr. Michael Ian was very thorough and discussed the CT scan. In the end a redo was not needed and I left with a CD of the scan and a good feeling. I can't speak to Dr. Michaelian's operative skills but his bedside manner is amazing. If I need endodontic procedures in the future, I will make the drive back to Bay Area Endodontics,it's worth it. read more

I just received a Root Canal Treatment here at Bay Area Endodontics in San Mateo.  I reached out to them and received a call back promptly and was able to book an appointment with them very quickly.  I had referrals to a total of 3 different places and the other 2 places were not as quick to help me with returning my phone call (2-3 days later). Alex from Bay Area Endodontics called me back on the same day and was helpful with gathering all my pertinent information before my appointment (insurance) which made the process very easy once I showed up to their office for my appointment. I was a bit nervous going into my appointment wondering if it would be painful and of course, yes the cost.  Alex explained everything to me and I left feeling happy, relieved, and most of all not in pain. Walking through the door of their office, Alex greeted me with a kind smile and was extremely nice and thorough in explaining things to me.  During my procedure, Cathy assisted Dr. Michaelian and made me feel comfortable with everything that was happening.  I was at a point where I was so relaxed she tapped me on the shoulder to ask if I was doing okay.  I could not say enough about how the procedure went so smoothly that I honestly was so relaxed and at ease. Cathy was there the entire time making sure that I was comfortable while Dr. Michaelian was working on me and explaining everything with his expertise of what exactly was happening. Meeting Dr. Michaelian & his staff for the first time was such a wonderful experience for me.  They are professional, understanding of your needs, and most importantly friendly and kind. This was probably the most fun dental appointment Ive ever had. Claudia was great, not only did she coordinate the appointment, but she kept in touch from beginning to end, including checking-in with me the day after. Mona was fun, she was very communicative and clear on what to do and what needed to be done, very efficient with x-rays and alternate tools. Her working relationship with Ellie Shadmehr was very easy, they understood each others processes and needs, almost non-verbally. Dr. Ellie was amazing. She was very thorough, and quick with the root canal. Dr. Ellie ensured I was taken care of, ensuring I wasnt able to feel anything, providing me with 4-5 injections, including one in the bone. She made jokes, gossiped, invited me out with the entire crew. It made the appointment, fun and enjoyable. The team made me wish I worked here. It is definitely a place I would recommend. It seemed like a very low-stress, non-toxic environment to work in. Can they be my everyday general dentist, not just for endodontics? Con: Too bad theyre corporate playlist is only 15 songs that plays on a loop. Lets change that for them! :) read more

I got a referral from my primary dentist to do a root canal under my four tooth splint across my four lower front teeth. This was with the San Mateo office of Bay Area Endodontics. After numerous xray and drilling and probing my tooth for 2 hours she gave up and was unsuccessful with the root canal said the next step was to remove the tooth cap and try again!! She was totally unaware that there was no tooth cap and she was working on a four tooth splint. I have lost all confidence in Bay Area Endondontics. The office is run smoothly. Very sanitary especially through these COVID times so there was never a concern there. Dr. Victor and Mona took care of me with open arms. This is coming from a guy who doesn't really like going to the dentist. They work so well together it was funny to see them have mini conversation to help ease any tention I may have had during the procedure (Which did not take that long). The receptionist was so helpful and focused at her work, I didn't have any questions afterwards. Root Canals are not painful for anyone who is wondering :). No one likes paying, but aside from that, this was a fast, fun, and friendly experience. I recommend anyone who is looking for dental work to try them out. I was a patient here a couple years ago, was sent as a referral, they did a root Canel. And I paid a lot . They didn't fix the problem. But only adding to my life this horrific issue , he shot my anesthesia and hit one of my main nerves . I now suffer from tri germinal neuralgia ( nerve damage ) ! I had the best experience here!! From scheduling my appointment with Stephanie at the front desk to coming in and being so kindly greeted. I checked in and filled out my paper work and was quickly taken to the back by Alex who made me feel instantly comfortable! I should add that I totally dread going to get any kind of dental work done as it always causes me to be anxious. This time was so pleasantly different. Alex got me x-rayed and soon after Dr.Michaelian was taking a look at my mouth and thoroughly explaining what needed to be done and was very informative & patient with each question I had. I was done in no time and got to chat with the ladies at the front desk Ani & Stephanie who helped me understand what my next steps would be. Went here because my dentist referred me for a root canal retreatment. After waiting in the waiting room for 40 mins I was finally taken in. The Dr. said that it looked like there wasn't much left of my tooth left but they were going to try to save my tooth. After numbing my mouth, taking the cap off, and drilling pretty much my entire tooth off, they said there was nothing they could do and that i need to schedule an appointment somewhere else to get it extracted. I then had to pay $300 for them to have basically done nothing. I felt like I got completely ripped off because they could have just told me that I needed to get it extracted from the x rays and could've saved me $300. Won't be going back here. read more

Had a less than stellar experience here. Doctor was ok, but front desk staff was mostly awful. Lots of attitude and excuses about their front desk processes, procedures and how they bill insurance. Customer service is so important these days and it's falling by the waste side- it definitely is here. Little if any. There is a veil around the care team so it is very hard to reach anyone who gives endodontic advice. The docs and anyone else are not reachable at all. It is such a shame as I know how hard it is to deal with the public as I do it daily in my profession. It is best to lead with compassion and kindness, but it is not always possible. Especially within the dental industry. This place prides itself on care and kindness - they even say so on their outgoing voicemail message. This is not the case. They lead with frustration and anger and that never helps anyone. Especially in a care giving situation such as this. I hope no one else experiences what I did. No one ever should. read more

I am writting this review cause i feel the need to embrace specific office that includes from the reception until the doctor, Dr. Perittore. I had a very bad experience with another office that my dentist suggested me. So I had to do my own research and found this office. Since the moment i arrived i felt very welcoming even that i was very scared because of my previous experience. Receptionist welcomed me very warmly even that she was extremelly busy she wanted to make sure that everything is ok. When i was inside to do my scanning, checks etc the assistant doctor was very sweet and welcoming as well. Talking nicely and treating me with the best way to feel comfortable. When doctor Perittore came to examine my teeth, he was very sweet and kind and was willing to explain everything with details to answer all my questions and take any fear that i had with him. When we proceed with proceedure, I didn't feel a thing. Both Doctor and his assistant were amazing professionals that wanted to do their job greatly, as they did! P.S. i found very important prices also to be friendly to me, as dentistry can become very expensive. I can assure you that the prices were very friendly. For example the same procedure was $1000 less than the one that was offered from other endodontist that i had bad experience. Everything about this place is amazing - from informative and quick receptionist (Stephanie), friendly assistant (Cathy) to the best endodontist (Victor Peritore). Entire team takes this traditionally unpleasant experience and elevate it like you are in the 5 star hotel with the spa center. Doctor was making sure that I didn't feel any discomfort and this process was as painless as possible. And it was! I had an excellent experience here. Nobody enjoys getting a root canal, but Dr. Tandon and her staff took good care of me. They were able to get me in at the last minute, there was no pain during the quite long procedure, the price charged was reasonable and they even worked out a payment arrangement for me since I was a bit short of money and couldn't pay in full at the time of my appointment. Dr. Michaelian was professional and kind. He walked me through my options and was through in answering any questions. His office was also great about keeping my general dentist informed of my diagnosis and treatment. The actual root canal was amazingly quick and painless. Even when the painkillers wore off, I was in very minimal pain. I got the root canal in the late afternoon/early evening and was back to work with no swelling the next morning. read more

Dr. Peritore and his staff, particularly Mona in the San Mateo office, made me comfortable from the moment I walked in the door. I've had root canals in the past which made me very concerned about my appointment today. I'm happy to say that I needn't have worried. From the minute the doctor adjusted the pain injection for my comfort, through the balance of the process, I was surprised at how I relaxed during the treatment. My general dentist from Southbay Dental Care sent me to Bay Area Endodontics for a root canal treatment that I should've gotten a month ago by my previous dentist, but I'm glad that I did it with Doctor Leung as she was incredibly helpful, friendly and explained the process and what was going on with my tooth that was easy for me to understand. Right from the start, Stephanie at the front desk made it very easy for all of the insurance/billing paperwork to be processed smoothly. Then I have to say that the office is beautiful and it uses very modern equipment (no more X-rays!) I had a tooth extracted in preparation for an implant. Fast, efficient and pretty painless!
