After coming in for a consultation and to find out it's $1,700 to lose 20 lbs, I felt really lazy and silly for not trying to lose the weight myself by alternate cheaper routes such as the gym or eating more healthier! Apparently you get tapes and you have to listen to different tapes each week everyday for like 1-2 hours. Supposively after listening to these tapes enough you'll lose weight. But, again for $1,700 good grief! They do not allow payment plans either. If I knew the price was $1,700 I would've never came in. read more

After some consideration I am rescinding my previous review of The Bay Area Hypnosis Center dated 3/25/11, and am offering this re-evaluation. I am doing this of my own volition, for I feel I was a bit hasty in my previous review. I enrolled in the Bay Area Hypnosis center's Weight Loss Program in November 2010. After about two months, the center's founder and hypnotherapist, Robert Harrison and myself, came to understand that my stubborn inability to lose weight was greatly due to my propensity to drink alcohol. Once we discerned this, Robert changed "programs" for me to one of a drinking cessation program. He did this at NO additional cost to me. He made it clear that he would continue to help me, again, at no additional cost. After a month, I personally came to the decision that i was not ready to stop drinking (I work as a bartender.) Robert made it clear that when the time came that I was ready to do so, he and the program would be there, ready to work with me. Thought it was about time to write a review about the results my wife and me had regarding smoking cessation hypnosis. We both decided to quit together and had tried many times on our own but with no luck. We signed up together end of June in 2011. I highly recommend Mr. Harrison's Bay Area Hypnosis Center. He is honest, compassionate and careful to individualize to your needs. I felt badly after seeing the reviews that I read here on yelp after I had referred another friend of mine to quit smoking today. I have referred many people over the years, and still will- because I truly believe that if Robert Harrison could help me quit smoking a pack a day, anyone can be helped... you just have to want to quit. Here is my story... A coworker/ friend of mine came to work one day telling us how he was going to quit smoking through hypnosis. I had heard of it before through a friend that had tried this years ago but it didn't work for her, so I was pretty skeptical. A few days later a group of us were outside smoking and over walks my friend- the new non smoker! I was in shock, especially since he was able to hang out with us smokers and not crave these awful cigarettes. He actually said our smoking didn't bother him- except that it smelled bad, and that he felt sorry for us smokers. I had tried quitting a few times on my own with little success and many cravings. So... 3 months later after I had finally gotten sick and tired of smelling like smoke and being really depressed about this awful habit I have had for 15 years- I made a call to Robert Harrison for myself and (my ex-boyfriend at the time)- I had nothing to lose. Robert met with us together to do some sort of a pre-screen, and then took us individually into a room for the hypnosis part. The first part was a lot of interesting information about smoking, the 2nd part was relaxing in a comfy chair while he quietly spoke to me. So I have been really happy since I decided to go to bay area hypnosis. In the last 6 months I lost 57 pounds. The hypnosis helped to stop the cravings and allowed me to change the way I look at food. I now make food decisions based on how food will make me feel instead of how it tastes. I feel like the last 6 months of weight loss has been easier than 2 days of dieting by willpower alone. I still eat some unhealthy meals from time to time but instead of feeling like it is a reward it serves to remind of how much better I feel when I eat healthy. I used to lose weight by exercising a lot and using portion control but I always wanted to eventually lose enough weight that I could eat high fat foods again. I also never realized the reason I did not have more energy even though I was exercising was related to types of food I was eating. My husband signed up for hypnosis about 6 months ago. The first couple of weeks, I was very skeptical on the process at first. However, I thought it was super important that we go through this process together so that I could better understand it and be able to support this life changing event. I have never tried dieting before, but I have heard how people struggle with this process. This is not the case with hypnosis.
