Bay Area locksmith ( aka JD Locksmith) is grossly incompetent and irresponsible. ( DO NOT get arranged to these guys via KeyMe Menlo Park!) They sent an unqualified kid, Eric, to unlock my house door yesterday. The kid struggled but did not know how to unlock my door. He then tried to work on windows and screen doors and failed. ( A 2nd red flag that I should not have overlooked! ). An hour wasted before he offered to install new locks by destroying the original as that was the only way he can open door and tag on more fees. After the install, I forgot to check the new keys/ lock until this morning. What a joke! I now know that I was given a wrong set of keys as these won't open the new door lock! I called and texted Bay Area Locksmith and JD Locksmith for help but they remain unresponsive. And instead of owning up to his own ignorances, Eric texted that I did something which explains why the key won't open the door. Really?! Unsound and shady business practice! So while I've access to my place yesterday, but I still cannot open my newly installed door lock since Eric had given me wrong set of keys! Be warned. Bay Area Locksmith/ JD Locksmith misrepresented themselves as locksmiths and refused accountability; as Eric, or one of their own, clearly had no idea what he was doing on the job. read more

My key broke in half in the lock at 10:00pm on a Saturday night. My dog was inside and it was a very frustrating and high stress situation. Chris with Bay Area Locksmith arrived within 30 minutes and saved the day. He was quick and efficient. Since it was a very stressful situation I was very aggravated and upset. Difficult to write a review, let alone a positive one when the company fails to call back twice within 4 days. I called last Monday morning to get a key fob replaced...gave all the information to whoever answered the phone. He told me a technician would be calling me to set up a time shortly. Crickets. So I gave them another chance and called again Thursday and the man that answered apologized for his tech's failure to call and assured me that a tech would call me back. Well it's midnight Sunday and...yep, you guessed it, no calls. When you are in a service industry you have to provide service, unlike Bay Area Locksmith. Suffice it to say, I won't go for another round. I contacted another locksmith and was answered on the second ring, appointment made and I feel confident that the owner will be here as promised. Mike came out and was efficient and polite. I had trouble with my front door lock. It became difficult to lock and unlock the door. Mike discovered that a part in the lock had been installed incorrectly. He reinstalled the part correctly and it now works wonderfully. I saved a lot of money because I was sure I was going to have to buy a whole new lock system and I did not. read more

My cousin locked herself out of her house and we thought we had her spare key but we were incorrect! The doorknobs were changed. My husband contacted this wonderful locksmith and the locksmith not only saved my cousin's door knob because it was a special security lock (which would break if he tampered with it) but he kindly offered to jump through her window from the 2nd floor to open the front door and provided us a spare key for emergencies. I called Bay Area lock smith for help to open up a home office locked from inside. They were prompt in responding, prompt in showing up and getting the job done. There was a situation where I left a two star review for lack of clarity in communication and the pricing. However, the owner immediately contacted me and listened to my feedback. He really went above and beyond not only to listen but also get it right. Things sometimes don't go perfectly but how the owner reacted to it says a lot about the business. This is an update from my original post from 3/26/2022- The manager contacted me and provided a full refund for the situation. He apologized multiple times for the issues and stated would look into them. He also provided a full refund as the initial price of $250 was reduced to $169. He didn't want me to worry about the charge. It's little things like following up and showing a business cares to get repeat customers. After speaking with Timo, we will give it another shot.
