I put off writing this review for a long time since I was so upset, but finally decided other people need to know what they are getting into if they hire Misty. First, to be fair, Misty took good care of our cats upon several different occasions. However, I now think this was more good luck than anything else (they're two indoor-only cats with no health problems, so taking care of them really isn't the hardest job in the world). However, when we went out of town for a week in October 2014, we came back home to find one of our two cats LOCKED IN THE CLOSET! She had peed in the closet (and this cat has never had litter box accidents before) and had rubbed her nose/mouth RAW and BLOODY trying to get out! She destroyed several items trying to get out (understandably) and some belongings had to be tossed, and many more things had to be scrubbed clean. I don't know how long my poor cat was in there with no food or water, cut off from the other cat in the home, and completely terrified and alone. I immediately contacted Misty and she apologized and said she hadn't seen the cat for two days and figured she was just hiding. I'm sorry, but the whole point of having a cat sitter is to make sure the cats are okay - NOT to just shrug it off when you can't find them! Completely irresponsible and inexcusable. I don't even think I can trust it was "just" two days since I really have no way to know for sure and no longer have any trust in her. Misty said she'd waive her fee for this visit and did offer to pay for damages. I just wanted to put this all behind us and asked for my key back - she curtly responded "yes" to my request and mailed it back in an empty envelope with no note or anything. Not very professional in my opinion, but not surprising at this point. I understand that everyone makes mistakes but this is completely unacceptable. Checking on the cats and making sure they are accounted for is one of the most basic tasks of a cat-sitter and I can't understand how any "professional" would just decide NOT to do that. read more

I couldn't be happier that I found Bay Area Pet Patrol! We recently had to go out of town for 10 days and really didn't want to put our doggies in a kennel. Too expensive and too stressful on the pups. Thanks to Yelp, I got in touch with Misty who came to our house twice a day while we were out of town to feed and walk and love the babies. She was super flexible and accommodating, and very responsive to all my emails. She came over to meet Sarah and Lucky and they loved her immediately. I LOVE that she texted me updates while we were out of the country so we knew what was going on. When we got home, the dogs were SO relaxed and happy, completely opposite to how they would have been had we put them in a kennel. They seem to miss Misty though because Sarah keeps on looking for someone. We have had a summer full of short trips, and, as a result, have greatly appreciated the services of Bay Area Patrol. We typically just have a weekly walk or two for our three dogs... typically done by Misty. Since we've had some out of town nights here and there, we've also needed some longer term stays and house sitting. By a really happy coincidence, we found Bay Area Pet Patrol from Misty's license plate cover, and we're glad we did! Misty took great care of our 2 kitties while we were gone on an extended vacation. From the initial call, email updates, voicemail, and note at the house when we returned, Misty provided updates so we knew all was well at home. Misty is awesome! I have a diabetic cat, who is on insulin shots and special diet, but still is difficult to regulate. When my diabetic cat got sick while I was on business trip (it was not her fault, of course), although she was supposed to visit only twice a day in the morning and in the evening, she made an extra visit to my place to see how my cat was doing. She also learned how to test his blood glucose using a glucometer, especially for him. I can't ask for anything more. read more

We admit it. Mina and Sebastian are somewhat high maintenance furry kids. Sebastian requires regular doses of "cat crack" to keep him happy. And, Mina, well, she has legitimate reason being 15 years old and all. None-the-less, it goes without saying that we fully entrust Misty in caring for our furry kids when we are away. She has always been very professional and response to us as well as very attentive to the needs of our cats, and we couldn't ask for more than that. read more

Bay Area Pet Patrol is awesome! We have a 5 month old puppy and he loves Misty. Misty seems very patient even though our 45 pound bundle of energy is sometimes very active and is still working on walking on a loose leash. Misty is super reliable even in this recent rainy weather. She always leaves a note and sometimes even sends cute pictures of our puppy during the day. She responds to emails very quickly. Our schedule is very unpredictable and she is very flexible and understanding of our last minute changes. One night I came home late in dark rainy weather. I was so happy and surprised to realize that Misty had already pulled in our garbage bin from the curbside so I didn't have to deal with it in the rain. We have been using BAPP's dog walking service since September '09, and have been very happy with it. A soon as Misty stepped into the door it was clear that she genuinely cares about dogs, and Pepito liked her instantly. She always leaves a note about her visit, and sometimes even takes pictures of Pepito and emails them from her phone! Misty has always been super reliable - not to mention flexible. My schedule is sometimes unpredictable, but she always does her best to accommodate us (once even with only a few hours notice!!). We had to leave town for 10 days and were desperate to find a sitter when the two pet hotels/kennels we were considering didn't meet our expectations. We called Misty the day of our departure and she cheerfully agreed to meet our dog and be his sitter for the next week and a half. Besides being a sweet person and a pro with animals, while we were away she texted us regular status updates. Our dog is normally skittish around strangers but loved Misty. Upon our return she left a kind note for us. We hate to leave our beloved four-legged friend for extended periods but the next time, we will definitely give Misty a call! In April, my husband and I rescued a Rhodesian puppy that was returned to a breeder due to poor eye sight. We needed someone to visit our little one, Charlie, during the day to make sure he is safe. Recently, we rescued another pup; a Redbone Coonhound that had been terribly abused. With two puppies in our home, we really needed help. Misty to the rescue! She is phenomenal.
