We have looked high and low for a clean, friendly, affordable and safe self storage. And we have found it with Bay Area Self Storage! We have used other self storage companies but this one has upheld their standards. The facility is always clean. I don't have to worry about my items getting dusts or bugs. We have an inside unit and i have never seen any foot prints of mud or debris from the outside. We have walked around the facility and the outside looks clean. The pavements are even unlike other outside facilities. The staff are super friendly! The man to ask for is Christoper, he is very helpful and has a very caring tone even if i ask him the same question every month. He even offers water or candy! This storage place is affordable, the price doesn't go up because of the economy. We have tried other self storage companies and our rent goes up because "the need of space or demand of space" as what they call it. We usually go to our storage in the day time but even going during night time doesn't bother us anymore. The facility is crawling with cameras and someone is in the office until 6pm. The lights are bright and i never have to bring any flash light. Highly recommend and will continue to use this facility. read more

I contacted several storage facilities for a long term storage unit, and selected Bay Area Storage. The staff, Liz and Melanie are amazing, knowledgeable, professional and super nice! I spoke to Liz before coming in to book. She helped me decide what size unit I needed according to the items I had. She held a unit for me to see, and was so nice! When I went to the site a few days later, Melanie showed me the different units and informed me of the need to know information including the best type of lock to use. She was friendly and super professional. It has been a pleasure working with the staff and the facility is kept very clean. I know I made the right choice! read more

Be aware that the location in Belmont has flooded at least twice. It is located next to a river that floods due to high tides and storms. Our unit flooded this spring. They did not notify us. Even though we paid for the insurance they offer, nothing was covered. The insurance has no value that I can see. Read the contract and see if you can find a scenario where the insurance would actually cover your loss. Its hard not to feel ripped off when you find out this has happened before and they did nothing to fix it. Go somewhere else if you don't want to throw out moldy boxes that were once your belongings. read more

Our office has used Bay Area Self Storage since 2000. We have been very happy and satisfied with this service. The management is friendly and accommodating. There was even one time we accidentally left our key in the lock to our storage unit and they called us right away. We finally decided to downgrade/get rid of our storage and the management was so easy to work with. We were scheduled to move out at the end of September but needed another month and she was just so nice about everything. Would highly recommend this storage company! read more

We have had the some items in a sm/med size storage room for several months. They have easy access to most units and trolleys are always available. The prices are slightly higher, but it was so close to home.. I believed my items were stored in a safe and secure storage unit. The staff is also extremely nice and friendly. Why the 3 stars? During the monsoon of 2008 my friend's storage unit leaked all over her items. It was extremely stressful and sad to see 90% of what she owned potentially water damaged. The staff handled the situation very well and moved her into another unit immediately. However, storage units should go to ALLLLL costs to ensure people's items are protected from the elements. A roof leak is completely unacceptable for a storage unit. read more

The staff was really friendly and helpful, their rates competitive and they even threw in a free lock. In searching for a place to store some of my belongings, I came across this place. Took a tour of the facility, and was about to sign the paperwork when I realized that I had wanted to check out one other place that was close to this location, and was cheaper. So I told the guy I would be back, and left. I went to the place down the street and was totally not impressed. The differences between these two places were like night and day. Bay Area Self Storage is nice, clean, professional, safe, and secure looking. The place down the street that was slightly cheaper looked like "the ghetto". I mean it seriously looked like people were actually living in some of the storage units. I quickly left the second place and went back to Bay Area Self Storage where I signed my paperwork happy to know that my things are going to be in a really good storage facility. Amenities: elevators, individual unit alarms, heavy and secure gates and walls, coded entry, video cameras, and carts to move your stuff around. No golf carts or garbage dumping capabilities. read more

I used Bay Area Self Storage to store my client's case files and to also store personal things like furniture, books, baseball cards, etc. I found Bay Area Self Storage to be a very reliable and convenient storage facility over the years. The units are extremely clean. I felt their on site security system of video cameras and alarms were more than adequate. In addition, management was professional and very easy to work with. Pros: Lots of carts to haul stuff up to the units; in door facility to keep things clean and minimize potential water damage; huge elevator ; really nice staff to work with; and 24 hour security. Cons: It might cost a little more than other storage units but if you are storing valuable things it is well worth the value. read more

Bay Area Self Storage is clean, well maintained, safe, and in a great location for other errand running and shopping. It's near Costco, Sigona's Market, restaurants on Woodside Rd, and downtown Redwood City. Christy, the manager, is friendly, efficient, very knowledgeable, and goes beyond the call of duty to help customers. She helped me figure out how to get a large heavy area rug from my storage unit into my car and then helped do the lifting! I could not have done it without her. She gets to know her customers and their needs. I live in San Mateo but Kristy and the facility make it worth the drive to Redwood City. I have been using Bay Area Self Storage for about 6 years, and have been very happy with the cleanliness, security, and my feeling of safety - even when I am there at night. I recently consolidated from two units into one, and was amazed at how helpful everyone was, especially Chris W. He remembered to call me when the size unit I wanted became available, held it for a few days because I was on the east coast, gave me ideas for how to make a large heavy item portable, and went out of his way to find my ladder that someone had moved. Awful, Racist, inconsiderate I have had unit 2194 since last March or so which is how long weve been homeless and told this establishment we were tight on finances never worked out a payment plan once only delivered theats Now our units up for auction even with a means to pay and a realsitic payment plan with a steady job no consideration for the common man but you know thats Pro trump america establishments that benefit from our struggle so this situation im far from surprised from the treatment hatred and racism of todays society. I moved out of bay area self storage due to them raising my rent $20.00 per month after I had asked if I paid for 12 months in advance could I receive 1 month free which I have done the last 2 years. I was Told NO I could no long receive that special. I felt like I was being punished for asking for one month free because I got a rent increase the same day I had asked. Neither of the two quoted "5x10" lockers were actually 5x10... more like 4x9 or 4x8... very misleading and false advertising. I started ranting one storage, now I am ranting 3 storage spaces as my business has grown. This facility is safe, clean and quite. The people work here are very friendly and reliable.
