I went with a middle quote, E-Mora Construction, and I'm so glad I did! I was anxious for the sump pump work to be completed before the rains began. Although E-Mora Construction had a full schedule, they managed to squeeze me in and completed the work ahead of schedule. The workers were great, and tidied up after work finished for the day. The sump pumps and moisture barrier were installed in two days. Ernesto Mora himself came to offer the initial quote, and returned once the work was completed for a final inspection, and to collect payment. When my electrician went into the crawlspace to install a dedicated circuit, he came out and said that if it were his house, he'd be "very happy with the work, and I've been in a lot of crawlspaces!"

While we hope we won't have the need, if so at another property, we would hire Mark again in a second if ever we were faced with a flooding, drainage or related issue. We live on a slight hill and our garage flooded the past 4-5+ years. It was horrible. (See photos) It had been getting worse each year. At first we tried fixing on our own by making some drainage improvements. That did not work. The next year we hired a general contractor but, as we later realized, he did not have the expertise in this specific area. He did install some new drainage and waterproofing, etc., but his "solution" was really no solution at all. Sadly, the flooding in our garage persisted just as before. After that experience we realized that our drainage and flooding issue needed a true pro with this specific experience and expertise. Therefore, the following year we interviewed several contractors who "said" they were experts at drainage and flooding issues. Mark stood-out amongst the group when we met him. His many years of experience, and specifically working on properties with drainage and flooding issues, allowed him to have a more clear vision than any other contractor for a solution to our problem. We scheduled the work for summer 2023. Mark and team were in/out in less than two weeks, just as he said, and his team was very professional, hard working, and courteous. While we never doubted Mark and his team, we felt it was more honest to wait and write this review after the 2023/2024 rainy season. It's now mid-March 2024 and we've had many, many big rainy days and nights that, in the past, would absolutely have flooded our garage and had my wife and would be down there sweeping out the water. He was able to identify the rot had been previously trimmed over, and was able to identify what went wrong to cause the dry rot, and how to prevent it from happening again in the future. He was also able to help out with a few other smaller issues that I had problems with. He has a depth of knowledge on what can cause water leaks and dry rot, and makes sure that work is done correctly from preventing any water leaks and water damage in the future. I requested 3 inspections before picking a contractor- of…read morethem Avant Garde did the most thorough inspection and also offered the most competitive price. (Note however that they provide a rough initial emailed estimate based on house info like sq footage- for an in person inspection there is a fee, but it is credited towards the final cost if you go with them. They do an extra thorough inspection and provide full documentation so in my experience it is worth it even if you don't go with them.) Other free inspection contractors by contrast ran through quickly and provided few to little details on the actual reinforcement plan. My crawlspace had a section of perimeter foundation that was blocked by concrete and required drilling a hole to properly reinforce- none of the other contractors noted this. Avant Garde not only noticed this but also did not charge extra for it. After the work they worked quickly with us on the documentation to get us our grant check. I did crawl the crawlspace just to inspect the work and it was done neatly and the area was left clean. Very happy with the experience and would not hesitate to recommend.
