The back of my house was covered with decrepit asbestos shingles. I finally decided to get those removed (with an environmental contractor) and then replaced by something good. Peninsula Siding Company was an awesome company to work with. Pete was an excellent communicator and really listened what I wanted. All the guys that worked on the job were skilled, and good communicators as well. They cleaned up. The job came in on budget and in the planned time frame. And everyone was so nice! The old asbestos shingles were replaced with Hardie planks. It looks great, is fire resistant, and just overall is such a good product. I am so happy we decided to go with Peninsula Siding Company! Over 20 years of Coastside weather had taken a rough toll on our house and I could not put replacement off any longer. Like many people whose homes were built in the 90s, I found Weyerhaeuser siding fell short so I knew I wanted Hardie board this time. I gathered bids from a few qualified companies and chose Peninsula Siding because of their price, their ability to start significantly sooner than others, and Pete Campanile. I met with several people in the vetting process, and all appeared knowledgeable and competent. Pete stood out for his explanation of the process and his breakdown of the known and unknown costs. In addition, he is just a pleasant person to work with - this would prove especially valuable when he had to bring me the very bad but not entirely unexpected news that there was some serious dry rot. The crew started every morning at 0800, worked hard all day, and were diligent in cleaning up at the end of the day. They carted away all the debris and even let me toss in some old lumber and debris of my own. On the back end Kristina Suey did a great job of keeping me posted on progress, the payment and inspection schedules, and answering the occasional question I might have. She also directed me to the cool 3D model showing how our home would look when it was finished. Over the course of the project we ran into delays and curve balls like the holidays and the aforementioned dry rot. Communication was good throughout all of these. Perhaps most importantly, in the end the house looks amazing! The siding and trim colors look great. The nails securing the trim are essentially invisible. I was presented with differing opinions on whether or not to cover them with touch-up paint; Pete recommended against it as the touch up paint fades and stands out against the trim color. I am glad I deferred to his experience. While the gingerbread shingles under the gable may have been cute in their time, Pete was also right that a new straight pattern updates the look. In sum, I thought the house would look better but I could not imagine how much better! For those looking to replace their siding I strongly recommend Peninsula Siding Company. read more

Though we have ended our work with Peninsula Siding Co (PSC) by many months I have long felt compelled to write a review and that was renewed this week by them providing yet another example of EXCEPTIONAL professionalism, beautiful work, and next level customer experience. I have volumes of details I could include here but to try and keep it reasonable length, I'll just call out 3 PSC Stars! - Pete (stellar human and construction lead on our project), Jovani (phenomenal and communicative executor of our work) and Kristina (brilliant administrative lead on our project). These 3 collectively made the high stress experience of home renovations, in a pandemic, feel manageable. I felt heard and appreciated throughout this journey. And I will just say that other aspects of our overall exterior renovation project were being managed by... well, challenging and less professional people than PSC. They diligently transformed the entire exterior of our home; so much so, that we feel as if we have a brand new house. We went from old, dark and deteriorated wood shingles to beautiful Hardie boards. Pete and Kristina are exceptional at what they do and as an added bonus, they are wonderful people. I always felt comfortable talking with them. Pete estimated the job would be done in about 3 weeks and sure enough, it was. Jovanni and his crew (especially Ivan) are to be commended for their work on our home (which by our choice, was in March of 2021). They arrived daily at 7:45 am and worked hard all day and cleaned up at the end of each day. It was obvious that they genuinely cared about their work and they wanted us to be satisfied with the end result.There were a few minor things that needed to be corrected and those were taken care of promptly. There is no outside access to the back of our home, so they had to go through our kitchen to work on the back. They were considerate and respectful to my family, which was especially appreciated during a pandemic, when health and safety are forefront in our minds. We got to know them well and by the time we said our good-byes, I told them we would miss them. Everything was itemized so it was easy to delete and add-on. If a work was not necessary, they took it off the bill. Ethan (project lead), was a gem!!! Excellent at what he does, caring, and truly detail oriented. All of the crew members treated my property and me with respect. We had few issues but Ethan was on top of the situation every time, handled it so I never had to worry. 2019: half-bath remodel. This was another successful remodel. Happy as I can be. Steve Albert at SEA Construction/Peninsula Siding was recommended to me by a colleague that has worked with him on many builds and remodels. We needed to have a large part of our siding replaced. Overall, Steve, Rich, and their crew were extremely professional and did great work! Steve was thoughtful and clearly knew what he was talking about. Rich was an excellent manager -great communication and follow-through and their crew did a great job well within the timeframe they set out. I interviewed 5 other siding companies/contractors, and SEA was above and beyond. Their estimate was right in the middle, and they worked with me on the price (we decided not to change an exterior door because it seemed too expensive, and they were fine with removing that from the estimate). They recommended a great painter. And they offer a guarantee on their work. I'm not sure how they could have such poor reviews here on Yelp. I was surprised to see it. They put together a team that had the skills to remove and perfectly restore redwood siding, wainscoting, coved plaster ceilings, and more. The result was modernized rooms that looked like they always were that way. Somehow, with cabinetry magic, even drawer dishwashers look like they belong. We had SEA perform a major remodel on our entire 2nd floor 3yrs ago. Steve Albert was a pleasure to work with during the estimate process. We had a very specific cost target we were looking to achieve, and Steve was very accomadating going through multiple revisions of the estimate on a line item basis to get exactly what we wanted done for the targeted cost. SEA then completed the job on time and on budget. They provided a 2yr warranty. We had some tile damage in one of the showers that occurred due to improper sealing by the tile manufacturer. Steve replaced everything required at no cost to us. I would obviously recommend them for consideration to anyone contemplating a design/build provider. read more

Watch out for this one. The "design" process was us overpaying for a rookie draftsman while Steve tried to figure out how much he could extract from us on a build price. When we couldn't come to agreement on a build price, new "design" invoices began appearing - well after the design had been completed and paid in full. My advice is to stay away from design-build deals in general (you need a good architect who can be your advocate with the builder), and to stay away from this crook in particular. read more
