It's been over a year since completion of our window replacement. I didn't want to write anything until I some time has past and I was certain the result was to my expectation. The company and the crew did great work , certain things had to be fixed but over all experience is extremely positive. We had our windows installed a number of years ago. At initial glance it seemed maybe the windows were leaking. THEY WERE NOT LEAKING. Felix sent someone out who said it wasn't actually the window, but insisted on re-caulking anyway. He had his worker nail up our tarp over the area that might have been the source of the problem. Throughout, he constituted calling and checking in even though it WASN'T the window. That's great service! read more

Let me start by saying that we ended up not using this company. This review is more about cost and pricing and to help people who are "window shopping." The rep that came out was very nice and professional and took time to explain things. He also answered any question we had. As usual, we explored other companies, at least three, and the interesting thing is that bay area window pros is the only company that said our windows needed new construction. All the other companies that came out inspected everything and said that new construction was not necessary and that our wood was still good. I'm not a window expert but I found it interesting why this company wanted to do new construction which would have costed significantly more. Ultimately, we decided not to use this company due to the extremely high prices quoted for everything. And I'm talking like almost double other companies were quoting, not including all the extra fees that may have been incurred which was stated at the very bottom of the proposal (e.g. scaffolding cost to be billed separately if required, Cost of permit is owners responsibility). I like to know exactly what is required and the FINAL amount I will be paying and not end up having to spend hundreds of more dollars for unknown expenses. DON'T DO IT!!!!! What a horrible, horrible, company. They installed ELEVEN windows incorrectly, we have MOLD IN OUR WALLS (including my young kids' bedroom!!), and FELIX - who stood in our kitchen embarrassed and apologetic in front of the REAL window professionals and 2 contractors - refuses to return calls and make this right. Seriously - how do "window pros" install the flashing backwards so that it dumps water INTO your walls??? You had ONE job to do and you screwed it up royally. And when I talk about the "window crew" I'm talking about 2 older guys who chain smoke and act irritated when you tell them the cheap, crappy screens don't even cover the windows and we have tons of mosquitos now. My review is solely upon consultation, and not work. Strongly recommend for any consultation. Bill came in and looked at all my questionable windows and doors and told me what they all need, and what it would require. They actually didn't need any replacements, but some repairs. I appreciate the rare companies that are out there like this one, that tell you the honest truth about what needs to be done rather than tell you to trash your old stuff and just buy their product. We had a very interesting situation of which the previous owners of our home, of which told us that the windows were just done for some insane amount from a recent remodel, completely lied! Honestly at this point I was infuriated and began to imagine how much the replacement and repair would cost me for our 3 bedroom home. On to the better part of my story. I called into Bay Area Window Pro's and happened to reach one of the owners. He was possibly the most knowledgeable and easy going individual that I have ever dealt with, at least when speaking of windows. The owner gave me peace of mind by coming out to take a look and promising to take care of me and my home. Prior to calling in I had done my own research online and found out that the previous owners really went down the cheap (Lets just make it look good) route, instead of putting in a quality product that would last. The owner worked with me and gave me a few options that would fit my budget and give me quality and peace of mind knowing that the windows would last for a while; wow that was a burden off my shoulders. Honestly, I could go on and on about how much I despise the previous owners and the problems they have caused me, but the bottom line is that the owners of this great company truly do care about the customer. They are honest and 100% believe in customer service. Minus the few negative reviews I have read, of which may even be rare cases, I had a positive experience and will recommend this company to those that I come across that, hopefully are not going through what I went through, but may need a helping hand. read more

love these guys. we first heard about Bay Area Window Pros from our friends and decided to find out for ourselves. We worked with them to replace multiple windows, a patio door, and front door, in a 1950's house with all "original parts." Everybody was really great to work with: Felix was very patient, knowledgeable, and thorough and made recommendations we haven't even considered to ask for - like - "we'll match the trim to the accents on your house" (really? that's awesome). Seriously though, he helped us pick the right windows for us, in style and price range, and explained the differences we never knew existed. The crew was great, they worked fast and left the place spotless (BIG PLUS in my book). I'm not saying I want to have to need more windows replaced..... but if I ever do, I'll know who to call. We've now had 2 houses in the city that required all new windows and both were under specific San Francisco historic guidelines. Bay Area Window Pros provided us with the most cost-effective, highest quality and beautiful windows for both houses. In the first house, we put in Marvin Wood Clad windows....one of which was over 13 feet wide and over 5 feet tall. It took 5 very strong men to lift it into the position, and a better part of day. I can't imagine another company that would've ensured that this could still be a single frame. Most companies would've taken the easier way out, and split the frame into sever Our 2nd house also had its own quirks and we put in Milgard fiberglass windows. From the moment that Chaz from the front office called to set up an appointment all the way through the project, working with Bay Area Window Pros was a very pleasant experience. Chaz set up an appointment for me at a time that was convenient for me so that I did not have to rush and grab the kids from school. Bill showed up the following Tuesday and went through my house to see exactly what I was looking for. He gave me a range of options that would allow me to choose a brand that I was comfortable with, and that did not cost me an arm and a leg. Bill gave me a quote before he left and called to follow up the next day. I had already received estimates from 2 other companies, but felt most comfortable selecting Bay Area Window Pros. As soon as the contract was signed, the production manager called to set up an appointment for final measurement. We went through each window and I told him how I wanted each one to open, and the pattern of the grids. Our two unit condo used Bay Area Window Pros to replace all the front windows in our place. That was 2.5 years ago and we couldn't be happier with the windows. Today, I just booked another appointment with Felix to change our rear windows. BAWP is knowledgeable, honest and efficient. They sketch out all the options and challenges for each type of window including permitting and possible building modification. Felix won't let you spend money on expensive types of windows where it doesn't make sense. They even brought samples of the different windows to our house so we could see how the looked and operated. The installation of our font windows was a breeze. Starting in the morning, two guys installed 9 wood windows by mid afternoon. The even beat the impending rain on a December day! The windows are beautiful, easy to clean and so quiet. I had one question figuring out how to clean them but one call cleared that up. I didn't hesitate to call BAWP again. I had a huge issue with replacing windows on a town house in an HOA. The strict rules required very specific materials and frame colors. I shopped around and would either get replies saying they cant do it or outrages prices. When I called the Bay Area Windows Pros, they not only said no problem but also gave me the best quote I had so far. They got everything ordering installed and completed the job on time as promised. I just have three windows and a patio door installed by Bay Area Window Pros. Such a pleasant experience... Firstly, one of the owners, Felix, provide an estimate from the pictures and dimensions via email. Then he personally came over and checked everything and confirmed the estimate, which was about 30% lover than others. Then the production manager, Mark, came over and took detailed measurements, which were up to 1/8 of the inch presiced. Two weeks later they emailed that the windows arrived and scheduled installation for Saturday, the only convenient day for me. And finally, the installer, George, came to do the job. That was the most amazing experience I ever had. George was so accurate, professional, and nice person that 10 hours fled away like one moment. Yes, he worked for 10 straight hours and even didn't take a break. He left my house spot clean, like nothing was just done here. He even vacuumed the driveway form the saw dust. I had the pleasure of speaking with Felix and requesting a window change. I was looking to replace all the windows, including non-standard size glass sliding door leading to the deck. Felix provided the most reasonable prices for the project, followed up promptly with suggestions and answers to my questions, and provided replacement options explaining the benefits of each, without trying to sell; I felt Felix and his team were really looking for my best interest in terms of the pricing, the quality, and options. I was a bit worried, as the work was to be performed in a condo complex with strict rules. However, Bay Area Window Pros provided all the necessary documentation that satisfied all the requirements. When I scheduled the actual replacement appointment, my initial good feeling about Bay Area Window Pros was confirmed. The window installers were on time. It took them a bit more than a day to change all the windows, including the non-standard size sliding door. After the installation, the place was clean. So Bay Area Windows didn't do my windows... why am I giving them 5 stars? Because when Felix (the owner) came out for a free consultation, he didn't try to upsell /hardsell as is common with many vendors (for window installers- see the yelp reviews for Renewal by Andersen) . For windows that I thought had no hope, he directed me to places that can install new hardware or do reglazing. He set me up with a contact for one of the more directed services I will need. He's not beholden to a single manufacturer (Pella, Andersen, Marvin, etc.) so he can truly give an honest assessment of your needs without bias. Finally, it's pretty clear that he isn't starving for business, so he's not going to milk you for unnecessary work because his mortgage payment is due. If that isn't worth 5 stars, I don't know what is. read more

BAWP made a good estimate for the front windows our 120-year old Italianate SF house. We needed historically appropriate, custom built wood frame windows with lots of soundproofing. Every bid we got proposed Marvin windows, so there's no variation among local window companies. What gets BAWP 5 stars is first off, the service -- nice work by the office staff: Bill, Alex, and even Isaac (the president) dropped by when there was a hitch in what Marvin sent vs what was needed to get the windows built. BAWP stayed in touch, there were no surprises, and it happened approximately in the time they said. The real pros here were George and Mike, the installers. Our house is old and everything is slightly out of square, but these guys got the tracks in and framed smoothly in about 1.5 days, and they left the jobsite clean. They're both terrific craftspeople. We recently (May/June 2015) had Bay Area Window Pros install 31 windows and 4 sliding doors; one back door and one atrium door at our house in Hillsborough. n May of 2016 I had Felix come to our home to get an estimate to replace 18 wood windows in our home. After going through our house and discussing the best options to match the style of our home we decided to go ahead and order with BAWP. The windows came as promised in about 6 weeks or so. The 2 installers that came were courteous and professional. The job took 4 days as projected. I can not be any happier with my new windows and the job they did. I highly recommend BAWP. I spoke to Bill about a window replacement and it became immediately apparent that they would not be able to help me but yet Bill gave me 20+ minutes on the phone of thoughtful, accurate information when most people I spoke to just try to be as me and sell me something. These guys are really knowledgeable and far more honest and direct than most people I spoke too. I see one person gave them a one star review because they will not replace less than four windows but I actually appreciated the honesty in that regard because it is just not cost-effective for them given the size of their crews.
